•James Taylor’s famous song “Fire and Rain” is
an autobiographical story narrating Taylor’s
fight with depression, substance abuse, and
fame. The first stanza talks about how Taylor
dealt with the death of one of his close friends,
Suzanne Schnerr. He sings, “Suzanne, the plans
they made put an end to you.”
