 Incubation process - begins with 4 month program - defined monthly
milestones, (focus on R&D, prototype, market research, find pilot customers
– get to Beta)
 Monthly peer to peer check-ins and constant feedback
 Leverage community, education toolkit(s), Mentors/Advisors, Network
contacts
 Regular Events to connect with corporate partners other stakeholders
 Constant iteration of on-going programming and partnerships
 Output: Graduate to Accelerator or remain in Zone cover costs

6. Accelerator: The funding part…..RFI / DMZI
 Investment Target: Up to 15 web and mobile start-ups per year, seed and
early stage financing ranging from $50k up to $750k, with opportunities to
match investment with other sources
 DMZ Investments (DMZI) - a seed-stage fund. DMZI will make
investments in existing DMZ startups and new companies brought into the
incubator.
 Goal – to invest $50,000 each in up to 50 startups over the next 3-4
years. No management fees but, RFI takes a small equity stake in each
investee company.
 We look for mobile, web, data, business to business and business to
consumer companies backed by innovative intellectual property that can
scale massively.
 We are invested in five DMZ companies, ranging in industries from
Healthcare to Financial Services, and hold equity in seven companies
currently. In addition, approximately five companies are currently being
considered for investment.
