AirMotion Big Smart Fans™ make
large facilities comfortable to increase productivity
while reducing HVAC energy costs significantly,
                      in all seasons.

                     INNOVATION ▪ EXPERIENCE ▪ KNOW-HOW
Moving and mixing
massive amount of air.
AirMotion Big Smart Fan (US Patent No.
8,066,480) is the Next Generation HVLS fan.
HVLS technology works on a simple concept.
On a hot, humid day you feel cool when a breeze
is blowing; the breeze causes evaporation of
moisture on your skin surface and you do not
need to be a rocket scientist to know that
evaporation takes away the latent heat off your
skin so you feel cool. Air has significant mass,
and once it starts moving - as inertia is
overcome - the momentum of the moving air
mass allows for a continuous air circulation
requiring little effort to maintain it. HVLS fans
- with their large blades and low speed - move
and mix large masses of air using very little
energy.

                                                   2
Increase comfort and productivity
while reducing HVAC energy costs significantly.
Energy efficiency is fundamental to the design of AirMotion Big Smart Fans. It is common knowledge in fan design that
the power required to drive a fan varies approximately with the cube of the average air speed through the fan - i.e.
doubling the air speed requires eight times the power. Accordingly, a fan delivering air at 20 mph requires 64 times as
much power as one delivering air at 5 mph. Thanks to the combination of our proprietary Variable Pitch Technology (VPT
™), Rotatair™ Composite blades, and MultiMode Smart Control, AirMotion Big Smart Fans move and mix massive
amounts of air to create a more comfortable and healthier facility environment, resulting in greater productivity and
operational efficiency while significantly reducing energy costs.

With continuously increasing energy costs, the immediate energy saving benefits of AirMotion HVLS fans provide some
of the most compelling reasons to install them. Apart from the financial benefits, reduced energy usage and
corresponding greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions makes for a better environment now and for future generations.

Packed with the Smartest Technologies
to ensure complete and more effective air movement
throughout your facility.

       VPT™ (Variable Pitch Technology)
Lets you control the reach and direction of the air movement
equally effectively up or down by reversing the pitch of the blades
from ±0° to 20° (while the fan is operating).

       Rotatair™ Composite Blades
Lightweight, yet stronger. Low turbulence design.
Equally effective in moving air up or down.

       MultiMode Smart Control
Provides manual to fully automatic fan control in five modes of operation
with on-board smart electronics and temperature sensors.

                                                                           4
By using Variable Pitch Technology™ AirMotion Big Smart Fans
provide you Adjustable Air Movement with one fan...

             6 Lower Pitch – Down
When set in Lower Pitch, the fan provides a
             columnar air-flow for narrower focus.

                                                            Higher Pitch – Down 7
When set in Higher Pitch, the fan provides you
a conical air-flow for broader reach, better air mixing, and
bigger performance (than old generation HVLS fans).

             6 Lower Pitch – Up
You can also get the columnar air-flow upward
with the same degree of pitch set in reverse.

                                                              Higher Pitch – Up 7
You can also get the conical air-flow upward
5 with the same degree of pitch set in reverse.
...and Complete Facility Movement of air with multiple fans
arranged in an array at your facility.

Air down Air up Air down

With three or more fans arranged in an array you can get an all-encompassing, wave-like air movement and mixing
throughout your facility by adjusting some fans to move the air upward while others moving the air downward. We call it
Complete Facility Movement of air.

MultiMode Control Capability
Manual Mode
The user sets the fan speed (20-120 RPM) and blade pitch angle (0° to 20° up or down).

EcoMode
The fan is programmed to select the most energy efficient pitch for a user set speed.

DeStrat Mode
The fan turns on automatically at user set speed, pitch, and direction (up/down) when there is a pre-set temperature
difference between the fan and the wall box control unit and turns off when the temperature difference is reduced by air
mixing.

AutoMode
The fan selects the combination of optimal speed and pitch based on temperature differences, and runs automatically. The
user just sets direction (up/down). This feature was first developed for the US Navy, now incorporated in all AirMotion big
fans.

External Input Mode
The fans can also be run by user specified external devices such as thermostats, timers, sensors, or other devices.

                                                                                                                        8

Innovative Fan Sizes
The innovative sizes of AirMotion Big Smart Fans (available in 9 ft, 12 ft, and 15 ft diameters) don’t interfere with most
lighting and fire suppression installations and help eliminate the counter-productive strobe effect created by big fan
blades spinning underneath lights, helping avoid issues and concerns of fire marshals and/or insurance underwriters. We
move lots of air with our fans - thanks to our Variable Pitch Technology and Rotatair blades they don’t need to be so big.

A 15 ft AirMotion Big Smart Fan
is designed and capable to meet all your
needs better than the older generation
24 ft HVLS fans.

It doesn't need to be So Big,
if it's Smart.

Energy Efficiency : Summer Cooling
1.5 hp vs. 7.5+ hp
Move more air with less horsepower

By replacing up to 15 or more standard high-speed industrial fans one AirMotion Big Smart Fan
provides all the breeze necessary for a natural cooling effect of 6°F to 14°F or more for happier, healthier,
and more productive facility personnel or livestock, while significantly reducing HVAC energy bills in the
summertime. 12

Energy Savings : Winter Heat DeStratification

When the air is heated it goes up. In colder seasons and climates AirMotion big fans can provide better
heating comfort in large facilities by moving otherwise wasted hot air down from the ceiling and mixing
it with the colder air at floor level, helping to maintain a more uniform temperature throughout the
facility while saving a Guaranteed 20%* or more in heating costs by reducing heater cycle time and
related fuel usage.

Increase Comfort and Productivity with Energy Efficient AirMotion HVLS Fans

  • 1. AirMotion Big Smart Fans™ make large facilities comfortable to increase productivity while reducing HVAC energy costs significantly, in all seasons. INNOVATION ▪ EXPERIENCE ▪ KNOW-HOW
  • 2. Moving and mixing massive amount of air. AirMotion Big Smart Fan (US Patent No. 8,066,480) is the Next Generation HVLS fan. HVLS technology works on a simple concept. On a hot, humid day you feel cool when a breeze is blowing; the breeze causes evaporation of moisture on your skin surface and you do not need to be a rocket scientist to know that evaporation takes away the latent heat off your skin so you feel cool. Air has significant mass, and once it starts moving - as inertia is overcome - the momentum of the moving air mass allows for a continuous air circulation requiring little effort to maintain it. HVLS fans - with their large blades and low speed - move and mix large masses of air using very little energy. 2
  • 3. Increase comfort and productivity while reducing HVAC energy costs significantly. Energy efficiency is fundamental to the design of AirMotion Big Smart Fans. It is common knowledge in fan design that the power required to drive a fan varies approximately with the cube of the average air speed through the fan - i.e. doubling the air speed requires eight times the power. Accordingly, a fan delivering air at 20 mph requires 64 times as much power as one delivering air at 5 mph. Thanks to the combination of our proprietary Variable Pitch Technology (VPT ™), Rotatair™ Composite blades, and MultiMode Smart Control, AirMotion Big Smart Fans move and mix massive amounts of air to create a more comfortable and healthier facility environment, resulting in greater productivity and operational efficiency while significantly reducing energy costs. With continuously increasing energy costs, the immediate energy saving benefits of AirMotion HVLS fans provide some of the most compelling reasons to install them. Apart from the financial benefits, reduced energy usage and corresponding greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions makes for a better environment now and for future generations. 3
  • 4. Packed with the Smartest Technologies to ensure complete and more effective air movement throughout your facility. VPT™ (Variable Pitch Technology) Lets you control the reach and direction of the air movement equally effectively up or down by reversing the pitch of the blades from ±0° to 20° (while the fan is operating). Rotatair™ Composite Blades Lightweight, yet stronger. Low turbulence design. Equally effective in moving air up or down. MultiMode Smart Control Provides manual to fully automatic fan control in five modes of operation with on-board smart electronics and temperature sensors. 4
  • 5. By using Variable Pitch Technology™ AirMotion Big Smart Fans provide you Adjustable Air Movement with one fan... 6 Lower Pitch – Down When set in Lower Pitch, the fan provides a columnar air-flow for narrower focus. Higher Pitch – Down 7 When set in Higher Pitch, the fan provides you a conical air-flow for broader reach, better air mixing, and bigger performance (than old generation HVLS fans). 6 Lower Pitch – Up You can also get the columnar air-flow upward with the same degree of pitch set in reverse. Higher Pitch – Up 7 You can also get the conical air-flow upward 5 with the same degree of pitch set in reverse.
  • 6. ...and Complete Facility Movement of air with multiple fans arranged in an array at your facility. Air down Air up Air down With three or more fans arranged in an array you can get an all-encompassing, wave-like air movement and mixing throughout your facility by adjusting some fans to move the air upward while others moving the air downward. We call it Complete Facility Movement of air. 6
  • 7. AirMotion Smart Controller 7 Low voltage 7 Easy to operate 7 Manual to fully automatic fan operation 7 Provides full information on all fan functions 7 Can be placed in any convenient location 7
  • 8. MultiMode Control Capability Manual Mode The user sets the fan speed (20-120 RPM) and blade pitch angle (0° to 20° up or down). EcoMode The fan is programmed to select the most energy efficient pitch for a user set speed. DeStrat Mode The fan turns on automatically at user set speed, pitch, and direction (up/down) when there is a pre-set temperature difference between the fan and the wall box control unit and turns off when the temperature difference is reduced by air mixing. AutoMode The fan selects the combination of optimal speed and pitch based on temperature differences, and runs automatically. The user just sets direction (up/down). This feature was first developed for the US Navy, now incorporated in all AirMotion big fans. External Input Mode The fans can also be run by user specified external devices such as thermostats, timers, sensors, or other devices. 8
  • 9. A Fan For All Seasons – keeps you cool in summer, and warmer in winter. Cooling Heat DeStratification AirMotion big fans provide a natural cooling In colder seasons and climates, effect of 6°F to 14°F - or more - by creating a most large facilities can pleasing, non-disruptive breeze. With the low to experience a 15°F or more high speed capability of our fans (20 to 120 difference in temperature from RPM) one can also adjust the fan speed to create floor to ceiling (as hot air always goes up). Innovative Fan Sizes The innovative sizes of AirMotion Big Smart Fans (available in 9 ft, 12 ft, and 15 ft diameters) don’t interfere with most lighting and fire suppression installations and help eliminate the counter-productive strobe effect created by big fan blades spinning underneath lights, helping avoid issues and concerns of fire marshals and/or insurance underwriters. We move lots of air with our fans - thanks to our Variable Pitch Technology and Rotatair blades they don’t need to be so big. A 15 ft AirMotion Big Smart Fan is designed and capable to meet all your needs better than the older generation 24 ft HVLS fans. It doesn't need to be So Big, if it's Smart. 11
