1. Getting your website indexed by the search engines is a
good idea so that people can find you. Let's pretend that
your site is a shop that is located on the high street of your
local town in which case, when people walk past and see
your displays, they would shop front and maybe pop in.
Unfortunately, this isn't how it is in the web. The way the
internet is made - there is no such thing as passing trade.
So what if you have the best site in the universe? Or if
your product is so revolutionary that it will change the
way millions of people search the Internet? It doesn't
matter if you have a very important message that
everyone should read because unless people know where
it is, then no one will come.
2. People need to know where they can find you in order for
them to visit your site, read your message, and buy your
products. They should be able to follow a link to your site,
know your website address, or even your URL.
3. Any ideas how to tell people about your site? Have you
tried word of mouth? You can only tell so many people
face to face even though this technique works. Maybe you
should send out an email to a list of people that you have
recently bought from someone on the Internet. In one
simple word - NO. This is the easiest way for you to lose
your website, your credibility, your hosting - even your
email and internet account. Spam is what this is called.
4. Even though you personally may get tons of spam in your
mailbox each day doesn't mean you should do it too. It is
something protected by law. Yes, you can be in serious
trouble if you spam. You should only people who have
sent you emails or if they asked you to send them
information and this is the rule of thumb that you need to
be aware of. It would be a waste of time sending someone
an email about automobiles if they are only interested in
stamp collecting. Even though there could be an exception
to the rule where someone could be interested in stamps
with automobiles on them.
5. By searching for web sites in a search engine, most people
can then visit websites. The thing, they would still type in
into a search engine even if someone already knows what
your website address or URL is. Almost everyone has
either a search engine as their homepage or they use the
one provided by their internet provider and that almost
always has a search box.
6. What they do is type your URL into the search box and
press enter. If you aren't listed in the search engine they
are using, guaranteed one of your competitors will be.
7. The question is, how do you get your site indexed? A fairly
good job of finding and including your site in their results
is what most search engines do. If you want to help them
along, then make that you get links to your site. Add links
from your Facebook, Twitter, or other page you use. Make
sure that your website is indexed quickly.
