A couple, Anna and Syed, had a child with Down syndrome caused by an extra copy of chromosome 21. A genetic test was run on the child to determine if the extra chromosome came from Anna or Syed. The test results show that lane B best fits the child's genotype, indicating that the nondisjunction event occurred in Anna during meiosis I, giving the child an extra chromosome 21 from her.
