notesA Vibrant New Vision in Atlanta
There’s something exciting in the air, and it’s about to give
Atlanta a whole new point of view. Discover the shimmering
Loews Atlanta Hotel soaring above a perfect location at 11th and
Peachtree, in the heart of the Midtown arts district. With a front
row view of Piedmont Park and within easy walking distance
of the High Museum, Fox Theatre and other world-renowned
cultural venues, the city’s newest hotel is a natural choice for a
Loews site. “Atlanta is really the epicenter of everything that’s
going on in the southeastern United States,” explains Valerie
Ferguson, Regional Vice President. “It’s the cultural heart of
the Southeast, it’s the educational center and it’s very much
the center of commerce.” As a business hub, the city has the
third largest concentration of Fortune 500 headquarters, and
has long been considered a top meeting
planner choice for its outstanding convention
facilities, services and a convenient location
within a 2-hour flight of 80% of the U.S.
population.
Now, Loews Atlanta Hotel is making its
mark as a centerpiece of a luxury mixed-
use development that spans four city
blocks. Highlights include magnificent floor-to-ceiling window
views from every guest room, 25,000 square feet of windowed
function space situated on one floor, eleven restaurant—
featuring farm-to-table cuisine—and an Exhale spa. “This hotel
opens absolutely without peer in Midtown in true Loews style,”
says Dale McDaniel, Managing Director, “celebrating the city’s
unique spirit and catering to group and individual guests with
the Loews brand of genuine hospitality that now has a new
home in Atlanta.”
Pure Magic
Even if you haven’t read the books or seen the movies, it will be hard
to resist the spell of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. After all,
it’s not every day you get to ride a hippogriff or have a magic wand
pick you as its master. Debuting June 18 at Universal Orlando, The
Wizarding World is a 20-acre park set within Islands of Adventure
that re-creates the experiences of the world’s most famous wizard.
At Ollivander’s Wand Shop, visitors can experience the magical
trial and error of finding the right wand. Take to the skies in Flight
of the Hippogriff, a coaster that simulates a ride on the powerful
creature that protected Harry during a duel with Severus Snape.
More thrilling twists await with Dragon Challenge, a twin high
speed roller coaster with elements from the Triwizard Tournament.

Broadway Comes to Feinstein’s
If guests of the Loews Regency Hotel in New York City confuse
Park Avenue with Broadway, it is certainly understandable.
Feinstein’s at Loews Regency, the city’s most intimate cabaret
space, seems to have as many Broadway performers as,
well, Broadway. Some dance and some play instruments,
but all showcase their vocal talents, singing to a small, close-up
audience in an elegant venue.
Stars from the Great White Way that have graced Feinstein’s
stage include Brian Stokes Mitchell, Sutton Foster, Gregg
Edelman, Cheyenne Jackson, Barbara Cook, Victoria Clark, Rita
Moreno, Jackie Mason and dozens more. In December, Tony
Award winner David Hyde Pierce joined Michael Feinstein in a
lively holiday engagement. Wowing critics and audiences alike
with their comedic chemistry, Pierce’s mellow baritone offered
a fresh take on Cole Porter standards and, Feinstein, of course,
masterfully handled the classics.
Countless more stars performing this season include the
multi-talented Tyne Daly, whose Second Time Around show
won raves with its mix of hit Broadway tunes and more obscure
gems. Betty Buckley, another returning face, sang the Broadway
tunes she has always most wanted to perform and plans another
engagement. Meanwhile, Jane Krakowski stepped away from
30 Rock to her Broadway roots for a show that combined both
song and dance. Other Broadway stars scheduled to appear
soon are the versatile Alan Cumming and fan favorite Linda
Eder. For a performance schedule, visit the club’s Web site:

Classic Charms at Loews Philadelphia
Talk about a rich history: in 1816, the Philadelphia Savings
Fund Society (PSFS) became the nation’s first savings bank,
and in 1932, it built the first modern skyscraper designed in the
international style. PSFS no longer exists, but its architecturally
significant headquarters just celebrated another milestone: its
tenth anniversary as Loews Philadelphia Hotel. Preserving the
building’s character, original touches have been repurposed,
from wooden tellers’ counters—that now form the reception
desk—to original vault and safe deposit boxes on display. The
bank’s Cartier wall clocks grace elevator lobbies on every floor,
while the rooftop’s 27-foot red neon PSFS letters remain a bright
icon of the city’s skyline. The bank’s gorgeous marble is on
display in the hotel’s exceptional restaurant, SoleFood.
But maybe the best remaining asset is a marquee location
conveniently across from the Reading Terminal Market, one of
the country’s greatest food markets and a must for any visitor.
The market serves up every imaginable regional specialty, from
Philly cheesesteaks to Amish whoopie pies. Other attractions are
just steps way, including the Liberty Bell, Independence Hall, the
Philadelphia Museum of Art and the National Constitution Center,
where you can take the Presidential oath of office and render
Supreme Court decisions. Loews guests can see these sights,
along with City Hall and the William Penn statue, from many
guest rooms, while the Club Level and Club Floors offer the city’s
best panoramic views.
