2 Technical Features of 2V AGM Battery
2.1 Operating Principle
2.1.1 Chemistry Reaction during Charge and Discharge
The chemistry reaction during charge and discharge of sealed VRLA batteries is as
follows:

We can get conclusion from the above reactions:
 Discharging: PbO2 in positive plate reacts with sponginess Pb in negative plates
and H2SO4 in electrolyte. This reaction generates PbSO4, and the density of H2SO4
decreased.
 Charging: PbSO4 is deoxidized to PbO2 and Pb. The density of H2SO4 increased.
2.1.2 Chemistry Reaction of the Final Charging Stage
1 At the end of charging, the voltage of battery is up to a certain value, and the
positive pole will give off O2, because of dissolution of water. The reaction is:
2 The generated O2 is transferred to the negative pole through the separators, and
then reacts with Pb.
3 PbO is alkalescence oxide, which reacts with H2SO4 immediately and generates
PbSO4.
4 PbSO4 is transformed into sponginess Pb via charging.
5 The reaction at the negative plate is:
During charging, the water wasted on positive plate will be supplemented by the water
produced on negative plate, so there is no need to add water, which makes battery easy
to be maintained.

2.2 Charging Characteristics
 Float and equalization charging range:
Float charging: (2.23~2.27)V/cell
Equalization charging: (2.30~2.35)V/cell
 Maximum charging current:
Float charging: 0.20C10 A
Equalization charging: 0.20C10 A

 Charging temperature compensation:
When the temperature is over 25℃, the float or equalization charging voltage will
decrease 3mV when the temperature goes up by 1℃, and the float or equalization
charging voltage will increase 3mV when the temperature goes down by 1℃.

2.3 Discharging Characteristics
 Rated capacity: Under condition of ambient temperature 25℃, discharging with I10
until the terminal voltage is down to 1.8V, the discharging capacity is rated capacity.
 Discharging characteristics curves: The discharge curves of 2V AGM battery at
different discharge rate are shown in Figure2.

The general principle is: at the condition of 25℃, AGM battery’s effective capacity would
decrease 8% when the temperature drops per 10℃. Therefore, it is necessary to
consider the influence incurred by the temperature of working condition when calculating
the effective capacity.
 Self-discharge characteristics: The capacity could remain above 90% after storage
3 months at 25℃.

ZTE Confidential Proprietary Battery reaction: Pb+PbO2+2H +2HSO- 4 discharge charge 2PbSO4+2H2O We can get conclusion from the above reactions:  Discharging: PbO2 in positive plate reacts with sponginess Pb in negative plates and H2SO4 in electrolyte. This reaction generates PbSO4, and the density of H2SO4 decreased.  Charging: PbSO4 is deoxidized to PbO2 and Pb. The density of H2SO4 increased. 2.1.2 Chemistry Reaction of the Final Charging Stage 1 At the end of charging, the voltage of battery is up to a certain value, and the positive pole will give off O2, because of dissolution of water. The reaction is: 2 The generated O2 is transferred to the negative pole through the separators, and then reacts with Pb. 3 PbO is alkalescence oxide, which reacts with H2SO4 immediately and generates PbSO4. 4 PbSO4 is transformed into sponginess Pb via charging. 5 The reaction at the negative plate is: During charging, the water wasted on positive plate will be supplemented by the water produced on negative plate, so there is no need to add water, which makes battery easy to be maintained.

All rights reserved. 5 Figure 3 Relationship curve between capacity and temperature The general principle is: at the condition of 25℃, AGM battery’s effective capacity would decrease 8% when the temperature drops per 10℃. Therefore, it is necessary to consider the influence incurred by the temperature of working condition when calculating the effective capacity.  Self-discharge characteristics: The capacity could remain above 90% after storage 3 months at 25℃.  Relationship curves between remaining capacity and temperature: Figure 4 Relationship curves between remaining capacity and temperature
