The Meaning of Passover
Most are familiar with the
events of the passover in
the Old Covenant and
how the blood of the
lamb upon the doorposts
and lintels brought
salvation to the
individuals in that
household as the death
angel passed overhead
The Meaning of Passover
The people of God
under this blood
then went out on
an epic exodus
crossing through
the Gulf of Aquaba
and over to Midian
in a magnificent
deliverance from
the bondage of
Egypt.
The Meaning of Passover
The Meaning of Passover
At the center the Passover we see the atoning blood of
Israel’s promised Sacrifice Lamb,
the price of our redemption
The Passover Lamb,
Behold the Lamb of God
Slain from the foundation of the world
The Meaning of Passover
The redeeming blood of the Lamb of God, Israel’s
Suffering Servant, brings salvation and deliverance from
the wrath to come.
The Meaning of Passover
The atoning blood of the Eternal Covenant was
shed, and right on schedule. This all came down
into history during the Passover of 32 A.D..

Exodus 12:3. Speak to all the congregation of Israel, saying: ‘On the
tenth of this month every man shall take for himself a lamb, according
to the house of his father, a lamb for a household. 5 Your lamb shall be
without blemish, a male of the first year. 6. Now you shall keep it until
the fourteenth day of the same month. Then the whole assembly of the
congregation of Israel shall kill it at twilight.
Passover Lamb
“Messiah the Prince”, as the
prophet Daniel refers to Him
here entered Jerusalem for
the Passover. It was the
tenth day of Nisan. This was
the only time He presented
Himself to His covenant
people in any political way.
“Messiah the Prince” came
in through the eastern gate
and entered Jerusalem
precisely on time
Passover Lamb
Messiah came in at the end
of the 69 sevens of Biblical
360 day years. Nisan 10,
Palm Sunday was precisely
173,880 days from the edict
of Artaxerxes in his 20th year.
This authority to restore
and build Jerusalem was
issued to Nehemiah in the
month of Nisan in 445 B.C..
(See Neh. 2)

But his first coming was
not without purpose. The
Bridegroom of Israel was
coming to His own with
an offering of betrothal.
And there upon that
humble donkey He was
bringing with Him the
Bridal Price. It was a
costly Gift. He was
offering His very Life.
Three days later the Bridegroom sat down with just a select few of
His covenant people. He presented His disciples with the cup of
communion. This was an invitation to enter into a blood covenant
relationship with Him. He was offering them His Eternal Covenant.
Passover Lamb
At the Last Supper, Messiah was courting His disciples in the manner of
the Hebrew wedding engagement. He was offering them the cup of
betrothal in the realms of Agape’, the love of God. It was back then
a proposal.
Passover Lamb
Judas would have none of this. At that moment he deserted and set about his
task of betrayal. The Bridal price was rejected by the earthly religious hierarchies,
the earthly “father of the Bride”. Instead they paid out thirty pieces of silver to a
betrayer to have Israel’s visiting Bridegroom delivered over to the powers and put
away. Judas later returned the blood money, throwing it back at them.
Passover Lamb
At that time and during those days before the feast the
Passover lambs were being brought up for inspection. They
were to be found faultless and without mark or blemish.
Passover Lamb
Messiah too was being inspected, first by the
religious powers
Passover Lamb
And then by the civil governmental powers. At that time
it was Rome. They could find no fault with Him.
Passover Lamb
And so on the 14th day of the Nisan moon, as the
Passover lambs were being slaughtered, Israel’s promised
Passover Lamb was also taken to the slaughter.
Passover Lamb
The Passover in the year of the Passion passed by with tears..
Sadly they laid Him in the grave. The sun set on that awesome day
and another began. The 15th day of the Nisan moon began the
Feast of Unleavened Bread. And the sinless Unleavened Bread of
Heaven was in the grave, fulfilling the feast.

Yom Ter’uah
Day of Blowing – sounding the ALARM
h8643. ‫ה‬ָ‫רוּע‬ ְ‫תּ‬ ṯ rû'â ; from 7321; clamor, i. e. acclamation of joy
or a battle- cry; especially clangor of trumpets, as an alarum:—

A. alarm of war, war- cry, battle- cry
B. blast ( for march)
C. shout of joy ( with religious impulse)
D. shout of joy ( in general)3
Three different sounds made
with the Shofar
• Tekiah “Blast” One blast
• Shevarim “Broken” 3 consecutive blast
• Ter’uah “Alarm” 9 short quick blast
Three Series blown three times during the feast
They blow the series eleven (11) times through
9 x 11 = 99 sound of the shofar
Then the “Last Trumpet” or “Great Blast”
Tekiah Gedolah - blowing and holding a final blast as
long as he can (basically, until he runs out of
breath).
Three different sounds made with the Shofar
• Yom Teruah basically means a day of noise/blasts
• The sounding of the shofar on Yom Teruah is a wake-up blast -- a
reminder that the time is near for the Day of Atonement. It is time
to teshuvah (repent, turn back to YHVH)
• Yom Teruah begins a ten-day period leading up to the holiest day of
YHVH's calendar, Yom Kippur -- the "Day Of Atonement.“
• the shofar warns us we need to examine our lives
• Traditionally, the Baal Tekiah (shofar blower) begins with one held
blast called Tekiah; followed by three broken blasts called Shevarim;
followed by nine even faster broken blasts called Teruah. The
Tekiah, Shevarim, and Teruah each last the same length of time.
These are repeated three times. Then the Baal Tekiah concludes by
blowing and holding a final blast as long as he can (basically, until he
runs out of breath). This final blast is called Tekiah Gedolah.

Exo 19:
15 And he said unto the people, Be ready against the third day:

16 And it came to pass on the third day in the morning, that there
were thunders and lightnings, and a thick cloud upon the mount,
and the voice of the trumpet exceeding loud; so that all the
people that was in the camp trembled.
17 And Moses brought forth the people out of the camp to meet
with God; and they stood at the nether part of the mount.
18 And mount Sinai was altogether on a smoke, because the Lord
descended upon it in fire: and the smoke thereof ascended as the
smoke of a furnace, and the whole mount quaked greatly.
19 And when the voice of the trumpet sounded long, and
waxed louder and louder, Moses spake, and God answered
him by a voice.

6. DAY OF ATONEMENT
26 And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying:
27 "Also the tenth day of this seventh month shall be the Day of
Atonement. It shall be a holy convocation for you; you shall afflict
your souls, and offer an offering made by fire to the Lord.
28 And you shall do no work on that same day, for it is the Day of
Atonement, to make atonement for you before the Lord your God.
29 For any person who is not afflicted in soul on that same day
shall be cut off from his people. 30 And any person who does any
work on that same day, that person I will destroy from among his
people.
31 You shall do no manner of work; it shall be a statute forever
throughout your generations in all your dwellings.
32 It shall be to you a sabbath of solemn rest, and you shall afflict
your souls; on the ninth day of the month at evening, from evening
to evening, you shall celebrate your sabbath."
Day of Atonement
Leviticus 23
27 Also on the tenth day of this seventh month there shall be a day
of atonement: it shall be an holy convocation unto you; and ye
shall afflict your souls, and offer an offering made by fire unto the
Lord.
28 And ye shall do no work in that same day: for it is a day of
atonement, to make an atonement for you before the Lord your
God.
Day of Atonement
Leviticus 23
29 For whatsoever soul it be that shall not be afflicted in that
same day, he shall be cut off from among his people.
30 And whatsoever soul it be that doeth any work in that same

31 Ye shall do no manner of work: it shall be a statute for ever

32 It shall be unto you a sabbath of rest, and ye shall afflict your
souls: in the ninth day of the month at even, from even unto even,
shall ye celebrate your sabbath.
How is the Day of Atonement a
“shadow” of the 2nd coming of Messiah?
Leviticus 23
29 For whatsoever soul it be that shall not be afflicted in that
same day, he shall be cut off from among his people.
• If you have not repented before the Lord
returns, it will be too late, the door will be shut
• This day may be the day of the return of the
Messiah
Feast of Tabernacles
7. FEAST OF TABERNACLES
33. Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying,
34. "Speak to the children of Israel, saying: 'The fifteenth day of this
seventh month shall be the Feast of Tabernacles for seven days to the
Lord.
35 On the first day there shall be a holy convocation. You shall do
no customary work on it.
36 For seven days you shall offer an offering made by fire to the Lord.
On the eighth day you shall have a holy convocation, and you shall
offer an offering made by fire to the Lord. It is a sacred assembly, and
you shall do no customary work on it.
37 These are the feasts of the Lord which you shall proclaim to be
holy convocations, to offer an offering made by fire to the Lord, a
burnt offering and a grain offering, a sacrifice and drink offerings,
everything on its day--
38 besides the Sabbaths of the Lord, besides your gifts, besides all your
vows, and besides all your freewill offerings which you give to the
Lord.
39 'Also on the fifteenth day of the seventh month, when you
have gathered in the fruit of the land, you shall keep the feast of
the Lord for seven days; on the first day there shall be a
sabbath-rest, and on the eighth day a sabbath-rest. 40 And you
shall take for yourselves on the first day the fruit of beautiful trees,
branches of palm trees, the boughs of leafy trees, and willows of the
brook; and you shall rejoice before the Lord your God for seven
days.
41 You shall keep it as a feast to the Lord for seven days in the year.
It shall be a statute forever in your generations. You shall celebrate
it in the seventh month.
42 You shall dwell in booths for seven days. All who are native
Israelites shall dwell in booths,
43 that your generations may know that I made the children of
Israel dwell in booths when I brought them out of the land of Egypt:
I am the Lord your God.' "

  • 21. The Meaning of Passover
  • 22. Most are familiar with the events of the passover in the Old Covenant and how the blood of the lamb upon the doorposts and lintels brought salvation to the individuals in that household as the death angel passed overhead The Meaning of Passover
  • 23. The people of God under this blood then went out on an epic exodus crossing through the Gulf of Aquaba and over to Midian in a magnificent deliverance from the bondage of Egypt. The Meaning of Passover
  • 24. The Meaning of Passover At the center the Passover we see the atoning blood of Israel’s promised Sacrifice Lamb, the price of our redemption The Passover Lamb, Behold the Lamb of God Slain from the foundation of the world
  • 25. The Meaning of Passover The redeeming blood of the Lamb of God, Israel’s Suffering Servant, brings salvation and deliverance from the wrath to come.
  • 26. The Meaning of Passover The atoning blood of the Eternal Covenant was shed, and right on schedule. This all came down into history during the Passover of 32 A.D..

PASSOVER Nisan 14 Yeshua/Jesus is our Passover sacrifice - lamb NIGHT HOURS DAY HOURS Mat 26:24 The Son of man goeth as it is written of him: but woe unto that man by whom the Son of man is betrayed! it had been good for that man if he had not been born. Now you shall keep it until the fourteenth day of the same month. Then the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill it at twilight. Passover Lamb
  • 29. “Messiah the Prince”, as the prophet Daniel refers to Him here entered Jerusalem for the Passover. It was the tenth day of Nisan. This was the only time He presented Himself to His covenant people in any political way. “Messiah the Prince” came in through the eastern gate and entered Jerusalem precisely on time Passover Lamb
  • 30. Messiah came in at the end of the 69 sevens of Biblical 360 day years. Nisan 10, Palm Sunday was precisely 173,880 days from the edict of Artaxerxes in his 20th year. This authority to restore and build Jerusalem was issued to Nehemiah in the month of Nisan in 445 B.C.. (See Neh. 2) Passover Lamb
  • 31. Passover Lamb But his first coming was not without purpose. The Bridegroom of Israel was coming to His own with an offering of betrothal. And there upon that humble donkey He was bringing with Him the Bridal Price. It was a costly Gift. He was offering His very Life.
  • 32. Three days later the Bridegroom sat down with just a select few of His covenant people. He presented His disciples with the cup of communion. This was an invitation to enter into a blood covenant relationship with Him. He was offering them His Eternal Covenant. Passover Lamb
  • 33. At the Last Supper, Messiah was courting His disciples in the manner of the Hebrew wedding engagement. He was offering them the cup of betrothal in the realms of Agape’, the love of God. It was back then a proposal. Passover Lamb
  • 34. Judas would have none of this. At that moment he deserted and set about his task of betrayal. The Bridal price was rejected by the earthly religious hierarchies, the earthly “father of the Bride”. Instead they paid out thirty pieces of silver to a betrayer to have Israel’s visiting Bridegroom delivered over to the powers and put away. Judas later returned the blood money, throwing it back at them. Passover Lamb
  • 35. At that time and during those days before the feast the Passover lambs were being brought up for inspection. They were to be found faultless and without mark or blemish. Passover Lamb

  • 39. The Passover in the year of the Passion passed by with tears.. Sadly they laid Him in the grave. The sun set on that awesome day and another began. • 59. Three different sounds made with the Shofar • Yom Teruah basically means a day of noise/blasts • The sounding of the shofar on Yom Teruah is a wake-up blast -- a reminder that the time is near for the Day of Atonement. It is time to teshuvah (repent, turn back to YHVH) • Yom Teruah begins a ten-day period leading up to the holiest day of YHVH's calendar, Yom Kippur -- the "Day Of Atonement.“ • the shofar warns us we need to examine our lives • Traditionally, the Baal Tekiah (shofar blower) begins with one held blast called Tekiah; followed by three broken blasts called Shevarim; followed by nine even faster broken blasts called Teruah. The Tekiah, Shevarim, and Teruah each last the same length of time. These are repeated three times. Then the Baal Tekiah concludes by blowing and holding a final blast as long as he can (basically, until he runs out of breath). This final blast is called Tekiah Gedolah.
