woman Physician in Italy.
 Dr. Maria Montessori became an educator and devised this system based on actual scientific
observations of children.

 Academic transition
 In most cases, the children fare much better than most of their peers.
 The only con would be the homework and ‘test’ that the child is not used to. Will need some support from the
family.
 Social / Emotional transition
 Research studies have also shown that Montessori students demonstrate a greater sense of fairness and
justice
 They are more likely to choose positive responses for dealing with social dilemmas.
 These skills serve them extremely well as they move into their new classrooms and begin making
new friends
