  2. 2. Files Required <ul><li>Versions used in this illustration </li></ul><ul><li>Apache 2.2.2 </li></ul><ul><li>Php 5.2.8 </li></ul><ul><li>Mysql 4.1.11 </li></ul><ul><li>Joomla 1.5.8 </li></ul>
  3. 3. Install Apache
  4. 13. Test Apache installation: Open any web browser and type http://localhost in the address bar and press Enter Feather icon on System Tray with a green arrow indicates apache service running. Feather with a red dot indicates that apache service is stopped
  5. 14. Open httpd.conf file with any text editor
  6. 15. add index.php here
  7. 17. add at the end the following code: LoadModule php5_module “c:/php/php5apache2_2.dll” AddType application/x-httpd-php .php PHPIniDir “c:/php”
  8. 18. Save the file
  9. 19. Extract Php files to C:php
  10. 21. Extracted folder ‘php’
  11. 22. Extracted files in C:php folder
  12. 23. Copy php.ini-recommended file
  13. 24. Paste it in the same folder
  14. 25. Rename it to php.ini
  15. 27. Open php.ini with a text editor
  16. 28. Delete semicolon (;) at the beginning of include_path line
  17. 30. Add “C:Program FilesApache Software FoundationApache2.2htdocs” as doc_root
  18. 32. Add “C:phpext” as extension_dir
  19. 34. Delete Semicolon (;) at the beginning of line extension=php_gd2.dll
  20. 36. Delete Semicolon (;) at the beginning of line extension=php_mbstring.dll
  21. 38. Delete Semicolon (;) at the beginning of line extension=php_mysql.dll
  22. 40. Delete Semicolon (;) at the beginning of line and add “C:TEMP” for session.save_path
  23. 42. Save the file and close
  24. 43. Set Environment Variable for Php Go to Start > Settings > Control Panel
  25. 44. In Control Panel, double click on “System”. In System Properties window, Click on “Advanced” Tab and Click on “Environmental Variables”
  26. 45. In “Environmental Variables” window, Click on Path variable under “ System Variable” and click “ Edit” button
  27. 46. Add C:php; at the end of Variable value. Click OK Click OK for Environment Variables And System Properties
  28. 47. Test Php Installation Open Notepad and type the following code: <html> <body> <?php phpinfo() ?> </body> </html>
  29. 48. Save the file as test.php in C:Program FilesApache Software Foundation Apache2.2htdocs
  30. 50. Restart Apache: Right Click on feather icon on System Tray and click on “Open Apache Monitor”
  31. 51. Click Restart and then Exit
  32. 52. Open web browser and type http://localhost/test.php in the address bar and press Enter. The php information page appears Delete the file test.php soon after confirming about php installation. Do not leave it in web server.

  34. 58. Change destination folder to c:mysql
  35. 63. Mysql Server Instance Configuration

  37. 66. Enter password for the root user
  38. 70. Open Command Prompt Type cmd and click OK
  39. 71. Change directory to c:mysqlin
  40. 72. Enter mysql as root user
  41. 73. Enter root password
  42. 74. The mysql console
  43. 75. Create the new database ‘joomla’
  44. 76. List the databases
  45. 77. Quit mysql console
  46. 78. Exit the command prompt
  47. 79. Extract Joomla files to web server
  48. 80. Extract to C:Program FilesApache Software FoundationApache2.2htdocsjoomla
  49. 81. Extracted ‘joomla’ folder
  50. 82. Open Web browser Enter http://localhost/joomla or http://localhost/joomla/installation/index.php
  51. 83. Joomla Installation Stages
  52. 86. GNU GP License. Click Next
  53. 87. Enter Host name, database username & password, and database name
  54. 89. FTP Settings not required for installation on Windows. Click Next.
  55. 90. Enter Site Name, admin’s email id, a new Password for admin. Click “Install Sample Data” (recommended for beginners)
  56. 91. Sample data installed successfully. Click Next
  57. 92. Joomla installation complete. Remove “installation” directory from Web Server & then click Site or Admin
  58. 93. Open ‘joomla’ folder in web server & remove “installation” directory
  59. 94. Click “Site” to view Joomla installation site or “Admin” to login as Administrator
  60. 95. Newly installed Joomla site
  61. 96. Click “Administrator” to login as Admin
  62. 97. Enter joomla admin username & password and click “Login”
