What they did do was accept this morning’s gracious window
of beautiful February weather while thanking neighbor and
guitar-shop owner Jim Normandy as he opened his doors to
provide some extra space in which carousel carvers can work.
The shop is located at 217 State Street, directly across the
street from the carousel.
“Basically, what we are doing here this morning is saying
‘thank you’ to Jim for allowing this to be done,” said chief
carver Bill Mills.
Normandy made about a 10-by-10 feet area, for which a
gathering of several dozen people – and Normandy’s stately
long-haired pup “Coco” -- turned out for a mid-morning ribbon
cutting.
The event coincides with a new project in which elephants are
currently being made for the carousel.
