YOUR REGION
Every corner of our unique area has its own
local treasures. We’ve put together a list of four
major centres in this region and highlighted
some of the best things to see, do and
experience so you can feel like a holidaymaker
a stone’s throw from your own backyard.
Kempsey
A beautiful mix of seaside landscapes and open spaces makes Kempsey one of the most spectacular places
in our region. It’s full of friendly people who love a good get-together so, whether you prefer a party or a quiet
walk, there is something for you in Kempsey.
Hat Head National Park
This is one of the most spectacular spots in our area, encompassing beaches, sand dunes,
rainforest areas and wetlands in one picturesque place. The mix of terrain makes Hat Head ideal
for those who enjoy walking, camping and water pursuits. The park is also packed with wildlife so
keep your eyes peeled for creatures great and small.

Trial Bay Gaol
Located within the spectacular Akaroon State Conservation Area, Trial Bay Gaol is an attractive
relic with an ugly past. The gaol was built in 1886 and subsequently used as a public works
prison and a WWI internment camp. Today, only its stone walls stand, surrounded by pretty
landscapes. A beautiful but somber spot to visit, camp and explore.

Slim Dusty is a national treasure special to
Kempsey’s heart. Be part of one of the most
