1. Introduction: You are moving with your family from Europe to the new
colonies. In Europe your family was under harsh social classes and your
family wanted to move to the colonies to gain prosperity and success. Once
settled in the new colonies you can sense many differences and similarities.
Task: Your task is to find out what colonial life is like. You will explore women
and men’s role in the colonies, education, food, clothing, transportation, and
housing. After finding out how society life was in the 13 colonies, we will
compare colonial life to daily life now.
Process:
1) You will find your assigned group and I will give you an assigned
topic.
2) You will then search through the following websites to find your
information.
a. http://www.pbs.org/ktca/liberty/perspectives_daily.html
b. http://education-portal.com/academy/lesson/13-colonies-colonial-
life-economics-politics.html#lesson
c. http://www.socialstudiesforkids.com/articles/ushistory/13co

d. http://www.let.rug.nl/usa/outlines/history-1994/the-colonial-
period/society-schools-and-culture.php
e. http://www.landofthebrave.info/colonial-society.htm
3) You will place all this information on a Powerpoint slide to share
with the class. In your Powerpoint presentation there will be a total
of two slides:
a. One slide talking about daily life in the colonies
b. One slide dealing with how it compares/contrasts with life
today
4) Your Powerpoint slides should be neat, organized and appealing to
the eye. You are permitted only to have no more than three pictures.
Evaluation: The rubric for your Powerpoint will be the way I evaluate your
work. You will be graded individually for your work and presentations.
