1. From my Primary Search it shows that the Parents would be my main target audience because they
would more likely read the magazine more than the students would. But from my research I know
that the students would more likely read the magazine if the information inside included topics that
they were interested in, this is the same for the parents they would read stories that would involve
their children and also the schools achievements, so I will produce a magazine that will meet all
these standards but also a magazine that’s fun and exciting so it doesn’t just appeal to the parents
but the students also.
Colour Scheme: Black, Red, Blue (dark blue) and White
I’ve picked these colours because I think that they will fit with my main image and that they won’t
look out of place but also the colours really contrast against each other and this help on my
magazine because the ‘main Title’ will be in a different colour compare to the colours for the ‘Side
stories’ and this way it will help tell the difference between the different stories. Also these colours
aren’t too bright or to dull so they will draw the readers I because the writing will be standing out
against the main image because the main image will be quite dull colours, so the information will
stand out. Better than using bright colours e.g. pink or bright blue otherwise people will be turned
off by the choice of colours on the front page and then will not want to see the rest of the magazine
so wouldn’t want to reads it. So by using these colours I think that it will attract more parents and
they will see the magazine as very sophisticated and will want to read it and tell their friends to buy
it too.
Main Title Font: Lucida Handwriting, Side Story Font: Cambria
I’ve picked these fonts for my pages because they have a really big contrast between both of them,
I’ve put the ‘Main Title’ in the handwriting font, because I want this to give the magazine a look that
students from the school have made it and written on it, but also showing that the magazine isn’t
very serious and isn’t just targeted at the adults, but the ‘Side Stories’ will be in Cambria because I
think that this shows a difference compare to the title because it will be showing that the
information will be very important and that its important. I think that this different from other
school magazines because it’s showing off two different sides of the magazine and showing that the
magazine is fun and exciting but also have be really useful and full of information that people want
to know but also they will have fun reading the magazine.
Main Image: One student of a boy
I’ve have used a main boy for my main image for my front page because
I think that this would be really effective because normally people have
the front image of a girl but I have used an image of a boy because in
my research most of the front covers were mainly girls so I would like to
make mine a boy, this would appeal to the children that be reading the
magazine showing that it can be for boys and it can be for girls. Also I
have chosen to have a plain background because this way when the text
gets put on top of the image it won’t overlap each other and they won’t
look like there is too much going on, also it gives the magazine quite a
sophisticated look about the magazine and gives it very a clean look.
From my primary research most of the children have quite a serious
look and I think by making my model have quite a happy look and is
smiling it will make the readers smile and want to buy the magazine
because of the happy impact the first image they will see.

2. For my layout I have made
everything stick to the sides
so, that the image in the
middle will be seen and it will
be able to be noticed and
won’t be covered by all the
text boxes. I’ve put these side
stories on the right hand side
because I want the readers to
see the main image first and
then see the side stories so
that the image is seen first
and that draws the reader’s
attention first. I’ve put a
strapline at the bottom of the
page because I think that will
look very effective because it
will be showing off key
information but also without
taking too much away from
the rest of the magazine. I’ve
also added a date and issue
date into my layout because I
want them to not be covered
up and also for them to cover
up text but also helps when it
comes to placing my sides
stories so that they aren’t too
squished together and that
they aren’t too far apart. I
wanted to add four side
stories boxes because if the
front page has more
information on the front
cover then it will be more
appealing to the readers wanting to read the magazine. Therefore that’s why I placed my Main title
at the top of the magazine because then this along with the main image is the first thing to stand out
for the audience. I think by adding in a competition onto the cover page its showing to the audience
that the magazine will be exciting inside and that there is a chance for people to win prizes.
Therefore it’s appealing to the students and also the parents because they could both win the prize
and use it, or it could a holiday for the parents or it could a prize for the students for example
stationary. Which they can use and this will help them towards school.

3. Looking that the other contents pages
that I have been analysing I have found
that they mostly all have the contents
title at the top of the page this is to
make the image really stand out but
also make sure people know what
page they are on. I have made the
main stories for the magazine to be on
the left hand side because I think that
this is will be most effective because
once the person turns the page they
will be right here and then next to
them will be the stories that are
featured on the front page so if one
story draws them in then will look out
for that story. But also by adding an
image of that story it will want them to
read the magazine more. Underneath
the stories that are featured in the
magazine is the competition so that
they will see it on the front page and
here they will learn more information
about the magazine and then they will
want to read it and then enter the
competition because if the prize is very
interesting they will want to try and
win. But also tell their friends about
the prize to help them win it or help
the try and win it. Then under that I
have decided to put an image of the
school and then information about the
school so that if parents are reading the magazine and want their children to come to the school
then they will want to know more information so the links to all the social media links e.g. Twitter,
Facebook and also the link for the school website where they can find out more information about
applying to the school that won’t be featured in the school magazine.
