2. The myth of Atlantis the lost city
The mystery of Atlantis is perhaps the most talked
about legend. Nobody, however, can not prove
that there was and where it was the city of
Atlantis.
The first written references to Atlantis stem from
the Athenian philosopher Plato who tells us that
the Atlantes were people with supernatural
abilities and divine ancestry, who lived peacefully
in an island beyond the Gates Heraclids(the
Gates of Heraclids were in Gibraltar).
3. What the myth says
The myth says that when atlases gradually began
to lose their divine power. When it appeared
human weaknesses decided to turn against other
wealthy nations with a view to submission. So
they traveled to the Mediterranean , until they met
with the all-powerful and brave Athenians , of
whom were defeated for the first time . After
grueling battles , however , the Athenians finally
relented . The gods then outraged by the Atlantic,
and decided to punish them with everlasting
destruction . So great was the rage , they
destroyed in a single night , leaving behind only
masses of mud and fumes.
4. The myth in cyprus
Some scientists believe that there was the city of
Atlantis and they say that it is the island of Cyprus
because all the places that the resources have
are near the Greece places and so they believe
that the center of Atlantis was in Cyprus.
5. How was the city.
Atlantis was a country with a long and rich plains. The
subsoil was filled with gold, silver and other metals ,
including a mysterious stone, for which Plato writes
that shone like a flame . At the southern end of the
continent kings built a magnificent city worthy of its
power and wealth of the country, which continuously
and spruce , each trying to surpass the previous one.
Atlantis , according to Plato , was circular in shape
and was built on a hill which surrounded three ring
canals as trenches . Originally it was impenetrable ,
many generations later channels were combined by
bridges and tunnels large enough to pass a trireme .
Every passage to the city was guarded by gates and
towers and walls of each ring was surrounded by land
. The walls were constructed of red , black and white
stone taken out of the trenches and were covered
with brass, tin and bronze respectively.
