Employment History
Waitrose 2006- present
With over ten years in the retail business I have developed an excellent work ethic and am an
excellent team player. I always met my deadlines in a professional manner and undertook each new
task with a high level of determination. Due to my diligence, dedication and positive attitude in my
approach to work I was promoted to Team Leader. In this capacity I was responsible for holding
and organising team meetings, motivating my team, ensuring we met our sales targets consistently,
communicating with management and providing feedback. In this role I learnt how to prioritise, to
participate in work feedback sessions, communicate effectively and find solutions to management
problems.
I was asked by my branch manager to help produce promotional material for the branch for customer loyalty.
For example, I created a poster to increase Waitrose’s customer engagement. The target was to increase
customer engagement by 70%; my contribution helped the poster to exceed the target goal by 30%. Following
this success I was then tasked with creating another project to increase manager and partner engagement,
which I also performed successfully.
Now I have realised that I want to chase my ambition and pursue a career in what I’m passionate about.
Work Experience
L.A Media 18 months
I did work experience for a company called L.A Media. L.A Media is a television and video
2. production company based in Edinburgh, which works with international and corporate clients. I
joined their team as an intern but was promoted to runner after a six-month period. Subsequently, I
was then promoted to Trainee Director and Editor. I was trained by the Senior Editor to use After
Effects and Final Cut Pro. My other duties included: answering incoming enquires, making phone
calls to clients, assisting in daily activities, helping with research and creative brainstorming
sessions. I regularly went out on shoots and was responsible for equipment management, dealing
with permission forms, maintaining safety measures, obtaining council permissions and dealing
with members of the public. I was also responsible for creating promotional PDF material for the
company’s new aerial filming technology in order to showcase it to clients. I regularly had to work
to tight deadlines to meet high client expectations and was able to maintain a professional manner
while handling stressful situations. I received regular feedback and creative critique from the
Senior Creative Producer. These sessions were very useful and helped me to evolve my skills.
Interests/ Hobbies
I enjoy going to the cinema, very passionate for film and video games. Keep updated on my video game bloggers on
YouTube, read film magazines. Watch the latest E3 conferences. I have my own blog, which I am in the middle of
redesigning. My blog is based on my graphic design background and upload ideas, designs and inspiration that I see.
Enjoy reading books, photography, foodie, keen traveller and I am an avid user of online social media platforms
such as Pinterest, Facebook and Instagram, which are excellent mediums for discovering innovative design
ideas and keeping up-to-date with the latest design trends and game platforms.
Towards the end of my work with L.A Media I was able to storyboard, plan, film and edit my own
short film “The White Rose” with which I could showcase the new talents I had acquired while
working at L.A. Media.
Skills
I have excellent communication skills, time management and organisational skills. I can work independently for
long hours of the day and am skilled at self- sustaining my motivation for any task I am assigned. I’m a quick
learner. I love to learn new things. And I am used to being put under stressful situations. I love working as part of a
team, while working at L.A. Media and Waitrose my ideas and senior management frequently sought my
opinions out.
I have a lot of experience in I.T from doing my degree, my work experience and with Waitrose so
I’m used to working with software such as Word, Adobe Products and being tech savvy.
