Internship Report
Agricultural Bank of China is an important part of China’s financial structure with
Moody's A1 evaluation, and it has been honored with No.47 of Global 500 by FORTUNE.
Agricultural Bank of China, Changzhou branch is a well doing center-subbranch with 1756
employees. I worked there as an intern from June 1st
to June 30th
, 2016 to gain my
experience in international business and treating customers. Their friendly working
environment, efficient way of getting things done, and respectiveness to customer caught my
eye.
Their way of working is highly efficient. I stayed in international business department for
two weeks. The first week, I stayed in the settlement office to learn to check the Letter of
Credit. I noticed some details that surprised me. First, all the paper they used are double
printed. The entire week they didn’t leave any single blank pages. Second, they wrote critical
notes on the first page at each print, and all their notes are similar to each others so they
can understand the information easily. Their use resources effectively and work with the least
misunderstanding. Moreover, they use lots of technology to fasten the process of business.

They use dual screens to handle tasks and finger prints to easily ensure the security. Each
floor there are independent services to ensure those process, while the employee interact with
each other to quickly solve the problems they met. Using the independent telephone in every
desk, the employee can contact the center bank immediately if they meet unprecedented and
unsolvable questions.
Furthermore, the employees here share the friendly environment. During the second
weekend, I went to the office of market. Though my major and courses had nothing to do
with finance, I understood more about the office through observing. That is social interacting.
The employee in the bank are very friendly to each others. They never shuts their doors so
that other people can walk in to chat and ask questions. The office work sometimes can be
boring. The employee there usually have friendly conversation with each other when that
happens. They talk about their personal experience about working, real time news headline,
and lunch and dinner. They even team up and travel to some beautiful places together.
Although it is a fact that they might have to compete with their fellow officers to get
promoted, I was strangely astonished that it can hardly be realized. The employee in the bank
recognize the hard-work of their partners. Instead of isolating others from great
opportunities, they help and support others, including their customers, to get the best
chance or deal. The elder administrators generously share their experience and knowledge to
their partners. The employees keep honest to the customers with information and prices.

They made the customers feel trust with their business, and they got the deal with their
flexible management and hard work.
The most important thing I learned in my last two weeks’ internship in Agricultural Bank
of China is their respectiveness to their costumers. The lobby managers in the bank are well
trained. They have a code of introducing the costumers about the services. Every day in
7:30, the lobby managers gather in the bank. They review their daily work, and then
practice formalized actions and sentences of interacting with their customers. They will stand
in line on both sides of the door way to welcome their clients to come in, as “Ying ke”
according to Chinese custom. When they show the others the services, the employees are
obliged to point the direction with their hands but not with a finger. Because they consider
using a single finger point in the air a scornful way to treat their clients. They also
understand their costumers and have their own solutions to some difficult situations. For
example, I met an elder male, a monthly customers, who would like to chat with the lobby
managers for hours. His habits could be a serious delay to the bank’s daily tasks, as it’s not
very wise to spend much time talking to one guy while lots of customers coming and
requesting for serves. However, my fellow partners politely got him away by smiling and
seldom replying to him. We gave him a space to just talk all his words into the air, while we
could do our jobs and deal with other customers. He felt happy, since he could always seeing
us “replying” with smiling faces. He walked out of the door soon when he finished his

speeches, feeling respectiveness. He continues using Agricultural Bank of China’s severs, and we
did our jobs.
During one month’s internship experience, I learned different types of offices environment:
the one that doing work with strict older and tasks, and the one dealing with people and real
time business. I also learned some knowledge about interacting with customers face to face.
Agricultural Bank of China earns the great reputation with their friendly environment,
efficiency and politeness. The advanced administrative management earned the loyalty from
the financial elites; and that made the bank a success in both business growing and the
commercial structure of it’s own. I was lucky to learn from such a good place that endorsed
by the business partners around the world. It can help me with my future careers, and
makes me understand the important value in financial trading and customer services.
