AquaSPE AG “Aqua Scientia Potentia est” Water Knowledge is Power.
Impact & Shared Values
Our vision is to drive innovative solutions to the world's water crisis by connecting the
experience of professionals around the world.
AquaSPE AG manages The Water Network at www.thewaternetwork.com, the largest
online knowledge sharing platform and business exchange for global water
professionals.
We measure impact in three ways:
1. Breadth, quality and reach of our Q&A knowledge bank.
a. Today we have circa 350 questions, all with qualified and ranked
answers that have in aggregate been read over 500,000 times.
b. 50,000 questions with validated answers is our target for 2020. Each
question on average impacts 100 people for a total short-term impact of
4.4 million people. These questions are targeted to address the most
common issues effecting small communities in rural areas and
challenges of building sustainable businesses that support these
communities and provide income to those living there.
2. Potential of the Business Initiatives that we support.
a. Following is a sample of existing Water Network members who are
working in small communities in emerging markets who we are
supporting to help gain access to resources and identify sustainable
business initiatives within their projects:

3. Demographic reach
a. The Water Network has members from 185 countries representing over
8000 companies and 128 technical volunteers.
b. We plan on building our volunteer base to 400 in 2015, covering 18

the water sector. We unify three areas of cognitive science to deliver knowledge
sharing in water:
1. Water Taxonomy developed by the world’s professionals over five years with
5000 standardized terms.
2. Ranking to identify the "best" content and answers taking into consideration
real world experience, professional standing and a community engagement
Tally.
3. Knowledge Discovery with relevance feeds that suggest people, content
and workgroups to each person in real time to help them discover things
relevant to them and their needs.
SCALE POTENTIAL
We are scaling our existing programs to expand the Knowledge Bank and Reach of
the network members.
The Business Impact program is new and has the potential to scale in services
offered, partnerships and geographical reach.
Our goal is to help 30 million people in emerging markets by 2020 by developing a
dedicated Business Impact Workspace of 30,000 water professionals who serve this
segment hosted by The Water Network.
The Water Network has been chosen to power the Government of India’s Mission
Ganga Knowledge Community. The scope of this project is to serve the 400 million
people living mostly in rural areas along the banks of the river. There are 2500
knowledge workers, researchers from 22 technical universities and thousands of
businesses involved in the restoration of the Ganges River Basin.
We intend to share the learning’s for rural areas from this project to other markets.
Together with the general initiatives of The Water Network, and the learning’s from
solving rural water issues along the Ganges, we have the ingredients to create the
largest virtual water knowledge center in the world.
The Water Network goal is to become the definitive online destination for water know
how by 2020. From a business perspective there are over 700,000 water
organizations servicing a $620 billion sector.
Global water demand is forecast to exceed supply by 40% in the next 15 years.
Closing this gap requires innovation and an efficient market. Our proprietary asset
matching algorithms provide companies, projects, and non profit organizations a way
to be discovered by purchasers, professionals, partners and funders in an efficient
water sector business exchange.
