1. Olive oil
Olive oil it’s a major component in the Mediterranean diet that’s
widely considered the healthiest way to eat for health and longevity.
This ingredient has a lot of essential brain vitamins such as vitamin
E that helps prevent mental decline as we age, or vitamin K that
helps keep your brain sharp as you age and boosts your brain
processing speed. It also reduces the risk of getting some diseases
like Alzheimer’s or depression. When participants in a large study
replaced unhealthy vegetable oils with olive oil, their risk of
depression decreased by almost 50%.
Olive oil includes Monounsaturated fats, and these increase levels
of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine, the brain chemical of memory
and learning. A tip for you it’s to always choose extra virgin olive oil,
oils labelled “virgin” or “light” may have undergone a chemical
process that strips away the nutritional benefits.
Did you know that the ancient Greeks valued olive oil so much that
they called it liquid gold and cutting down an olive tree was a crime
punishable by death?
