What is Abortion Essay
What is Abortion
Abortion is the term used to describe the premature expulsion of the foetus from the womb, or the operation to cause this. It is when a pregnant
woman intentionally gets rid of her child before it is fully developed.
Abortion is an extremely topical issue and has been practised for many centuries, although it only became legal in Britain in 1967. This was because
an act was passed to encourage women not to have dangerous 'Back Street Abortions'. People who had no medical experience often carried these out.
The Abortion Act allowed abortions to be carried out, if two doctors agreed that:
В· The mother's life was in danger
В· Grave permanent injury to the mother's...show more content...
Many organisations offer advice and support for different situations. 'LIFE' is a pro–life organisation that believe that abortion shouldn't be practised.
They teach that every life is sacred and that it begins right at the moment of conception. However, there are pro–choice groups who believe that it is the
woman's own choice. Christians are found supporting both causes.
A. (ii) Explain what Christian teachings might be used in a discussion about abortion.
When forming an opinion on an issue such as abortion, a Christian would look towards many things to help them.
Jesus and his teachings in the New Testament are extremely important to Christians, as many of the ideas on lifestyle are still relevant today.
Although Jesus never actually used the term abortion, nor does he preach about the idea of getting rid of an unborn child he does tell us that we
'Shall not kill'. This rule could be applied to abortion, as you are technically killing someone. There are frequent reminders in the New Testament to
love God and you neighbour as yourself. With this lesson in mind, Christians could form the opinion that if they were an unborn baby, would they want
someone to choose whether they would ever actually make it to being a human being in the real world. Another important message in the gospel of

Essay on Opinion on Abortion
Opinion on Abortion
My own opinion of abortion is very varied. There are so many different reasons for abortions. Every woman who has had one will have had
reasons. I am sure they wouldn't have decided in a few minutes that they were going to abort their baby. They would have thought long and hard
about what to do. I put myself in the position of someone else. If I got pregnant now would I really be able to keep it. I would, for one, have to
stop school and miss out on the education I would need to bring up a child. I probably wouldn't be able to cope with the emotional pressures and
cope with the pain of giving birth. It all seems so easy before you see it through someone else's eyes. Women...show more content...
Today, abortion is illegal in very few countries–even those with religious beliefs and traditions. During the 1960s and 1970s many governments
relaxed their abortion laws and made it easier for women to terminate unwanted pregnancies. In a few countries such as the Soviet Union abortion is
seen as an alternative to contraception. In China women are forced to have abortions because of the one–child–per–family policy. This policy is aimed
at reducing the country's overpopulation problems.
Reasons for abortions with different circumstances
If you are thinking that there are no valid reasons for abortion, just imagine a fourteen year old girl who has been raped. How can she be expected to
get on with her life and ever recover if she has a baby? How can she receive a full education? Every time she looks at the baby, she will be reminded of
her terrible experience.
In some countries, for example, Russia and China, there is an absence of family planning. Abortion is used as a form of birth control. In Russia, a
woman has on average four or five abortions in her lifetime. In China there are over ten million abortions annually. I think that the amount of money
spent on abortions in these countries could be better spent on promoting contraceptives and family planning. I do not agree

Rhetorical Essay On Abortion
Abortion is a woman or teen pregnancy and end up making a choice of giving up on the baby, they go to the doctor and they perform a procedure that
is going to kill the baby. People donВґt realize how bad and horrible it is killing a baby they donВґt know the exact representation of it. Meg Meeker a

Argumentative Essay : Pro-Choice Abortion
Pro–choice Abortion Argumentative Paper When it comes to abortion, everyone has a slightly different view. Whether one believes that no one, or
everyone, should be allowed to get an abortion, the same question comes into play: Is abortion ethical? In addition, when does a human life actually
start? Without concrete facts, we can only do so much with those questions, which is why this is such a controversial topic. We need to consider all the
facts and information available. For example, whether or not a fetus feels pain, how old the fetus is, and what condition the pregnant woman is in. The
main argument comes down to pro–life versus pro–choice. After doing extensive research, I have come to agree with the side of pro–choice, meaning

Every individual defines pain differently, so "without interrogation, we cannot know for sure what the fetus feels" (British Medical Journal). As we
know, asking a fetus if it feels pain is impossible, and assuming that they do could be wrong. Considering these statements, abortion cannot technically
be called murder. Fetuses are not self–aware, rational, or attentive like humans. From a religious standpoint, I understand why people consider abortion
murder. A fetus has the potential for life, and that they consider that potential life a real life. However, stretching this idea farther, sperm also have the
potential for life, but many of these people are not against sex or masturbation. Fertilization has not yet occurred, but the potential is still there.
According to scientific evidence, a fetus has a fifty to seventy percent chance of becoming a feasible human being. These chances are relatively high,
but not a guarantee, and not yet a life. One cannot kill something that is not yet alive.
Other topics in regards to abortion are health and rape. Rape is a very touchy subject and still very controversial when it comes to abortion. If a
woman is raped and gets pregnant, she should be allowed to get an abortion. She did not get a choice in that matter, so she should have the choice on
whether or not she want to have a baby. Rapes cause emotional trauma, and no one

David B. Mahoney's Essay On Abortion
I sat in the back right corner of my fourth grade classroom next to my best friend, Hannah. We dutifully took notes, answered questions, and tried not to
get in trouble for talking. Hannah had been my closest confidante through elementary school crushes, a shoulder to cry on over A–minuses, the kindest
listener when I complained about being stuck with underachievers in group projects, and when my vision got blurry, she became my eyes. There was
never a question of legitimacy between us – why would I lie about needing help? So she whispered the words to me while I squinted at the whiteboard,
trying to will the smudges into letters. In David B. Mahoney's essay "A Normative Construction of Gulf War Syndrome," the "conflict between...show

Very early in his presidency, Donald Trump reinstated and strengthened the Mexico City Policy, also known as the global gag rule. Introduced by
Ronald Reagan in 1984, this policy "stop[s] funding for international groups which perform or provide information on abortions" (BBC News) even in
countries where abortion is legal. This violates medical ethics by preventing organizations from not only practicing necessary health care but also
providing vital health information. Women's health is rarely prioritized, and sexual health is seen as taboo, so it is difficult for women to find access to
information and services except through specific organizations. When these organizations are threatened, their health and safety is compromised, and
lives are put in danger. Because the global gag rule can cut funding, these clinics will be unable to provide any services, like birth control, STD testing
and treatment, cancer screenings, ectopic pregnancy surgery, endometriosis treatment, and healthcare during and after pregnancy. For the greater good
of the women of the community, doctors are incentivized to follow the rule of no abortion even when it is in the mother's best

Descriptive: Abortion is the termination of an unplanned or unwanted pregnancy. It is a controversial issue affecting our society and raises ethical
issues. Abortions can be performed before nine weeks from the last menstrual period and is performed either surgically with the removal of the fetus
or medically with drugs. From nine weeks until 14 weeks, an abortion is performed by a dilatation and suction curettage procedure. After 14 weeks,
abortions are then performed by an evacuation procedure. After 20 weeks of gestation, abortions can be performed by labor induction, prostaglandin
labor induction, saline infusion, hysterectomy, or dilatation and extraction.

Essay on Abortion: A Woman's Right to Choose
Terminating the life of a child without allowing it to even be born has been one of the most controversial topics for centuries. Abortion is the term used
to identify the act of intentionally interrupting pregnancy and not allowing the embryo (first stage of development) or fetus (eight weeks and on) to
continue its normal process. Each woman has different reasons to decide to commit abortion and is either willing to put an end to their child's life or
permit it to live, even if it is unwanted. If it's right or wrong, just or unfair is the main argument of the continuous controversy. In past centuries, before
the mid 1800s abortion was legally, commonly, and freely practiced. Yet, around twenty states started to pass laws to make the

The law includes the coverage of abortion by insurance plans, even though an executive order declared it to be in limited situations (Jost). The debate
seems to continue, since many want to have the right to pick and others do not tolerate the fact of abortion even being legal in the country. Pro–choice
followers obviously oppose the idea that women have to keep their babies regardless of the situation. Indeed, a happy and stable marriage is not
always the scenario behind a pregnancy. Rape and even incest could have been the cause and the probability of the mother wanting the baby in the
middle of such an uncomfortable setting is slim to none. Usually, a baby that is a result of an incest encounter has an endless amount of defects and
babies as a product of rape can cause serious mental and emotional trauma to the mother. A pro–choice advocate would probably present a sentimental
scenario where a twelve–year–old young girl wants to abort because she was brutally raped by her father. In such tragic rape situations it is difficult to
condemn the mothers' choice. Death and injuries can also be prevented with the legalization of abortion. Women with no choice could tend to go to
"back–alley" medical services that are unsafe, illegal and untrustworthy. The year before abortion was legalized 39 women died of illegal abortions
(Johansen). With legal and safe abortions women could do their will without risking their lives. It is even speculated that legal abortion is safer

Pro And Con Essay On Abortion
The issue of abortion is a topic in which people have strongly contrasting views. I will examine both sides of the argument, specifically whether or not
abortion should be illegal and then come to a conclusion.
It is claimed that when a baby is conceived, life is started. Taking that babies life is the same as taking another person's life, which in this society, is
viewed as wrong. So why is abortion different? Many women (who's pregnancy is unplanned) discover they're pregnant around 4/5 weeks into the
pregnancy. At this point in your pregnancy, the foetus has developed a heart which only has one chamber rather than four, but the babies heart still
beats at 100 beats per minute. Most abortions must be carried out before twenty–four weeks of pregnancy. At this stage, the babies brain has grown
rapidly and their lungs are developed enough to help her survive, if she was born prematurely. This is the latest stage that a woman can have an
abortion and at this point, the baby is a human being and would be able to survive if...show more content...
(Statistics from https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/8765248) Rape is never the victims fault so why should the women carry the child that was
conceived against her will. Well, hypothetically let's say that she delivers the child and a few years later she no longer wants the child because it
brings back bad memories. Would she have the right to murder the child? No because he is a human and under Article 2: The Right to Life, no one can
try to end your life, no matter the circumstances of your conception. This still applies to when the child is still inside their mother as they are a living
being. Another argument that 'Pro–Choice' people make is that there isn't enough land and resources for the growing population so abortion is in a
way, population control. However, would you kill a born child because you thought there were too many for the planet? The answer is no, because

Abortion and Religion
Procured abortion, the deliberate killing and removal of a foetus from the womb, is hotly debated and very controversial in today's society. As well as
the views of some modern moral philosophers, the Christian view on this situation is to be discussed in this analysis.
The Teaching of the Bible =========================
All Christians accept the Bible as a source of authority. The Bible has an impact on Christians' faith and decisions as it shows them how to lead their
lives, as God wants them to. If a Christian were to turn to the Bible for guidance on Abortion, they would find no direct teaching, concerning the topic.

A factor that shows the sanctity of a human life is the relationship between God and a person. Christians believe that they can experience God's
presence and there are several reasons to why a person can be at one with God. In the Old Testament it says that God made man in his own image:
'So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him, male and female he created them.'[4]
This Biblical statement claims that there is a divine link between man and God and that we reflect God's image. Therefore it could be said that a
person's life is divine and sacred as it represents God as his own creation and this echoes the idea of the sanctity of life. Another example that shows
the relationship a person has with God is the following:
'Thou didst form my inward parts; Thou didst knit me together in mothers womb; I praise thee for thou art fearful and wonderful. Wonderful are thy
works! Thou knowest me right well; my frame was not hidden from thee, when I was being made in secret, intricately wrought in the depth of the
earth.'[5]
The belief illustrated here is that a person has a relationship with God from conception. It is said here that God knows a

In 2008, twelve women taking resident in the U.S. died due to legal abortions performed during the second or third trimesters of pregnancy. Abortion

While the pro–choice group has political support, the pro–life members have ideals centered on ethics. Such ethics derive from religious beliefs, as
those of Randall Terry, "leader of the militant anti–abortion group: Operation Rescue" (Randall Terry). Terry has led many protests at abortion clinics,
causing public disruption and more than fifty arrests. Along his side are his wife and members of his church. This further shows the kind of people in
support of life for the child to be. Although their reason to protest is rational, the methods for spreading their ideas are questionable. NAF (National
Abortion Federation) has "reported more than five thousand crimes against pro–choice organizations, clinic members, and even new reports" (Raw

Discursive Essay on Abortion
Abortion is the termination of a pregnancy. If a woman falls pregnant and she does not wish to go through with the pregnancy then she may choose
to have an abortion. Abortion is a controversial issue, some people say it is ok to abort a baby but others are strongly against it. Sometimes people
are against it because they believe it is wrong but some are against it because of their religion, their background and their up–bringing. People who are
for abortion may have had one and therefore think it is ok or they may know someone who has had one. In this essay I will discuss the arguments for

The girl also may have to leave school for a little while to take care of the baby which would make her fall behind on a lot of school work. She may
have the pregnancy terminated because she may have wanted to go to college or university to study further. I feel that she should have the chance to
live her life and be free without having any major responsibilities, like having to look after a baby.
However, even though a woman may have a perfectly good reason to have an abortion she would still be killing a human life. Some women think
they are doing the right thing at the time but when it comes to a later stage in life, many of them can regret their decisions. It would probably be at the
back of their mind– they would think about it when they got the chance to. They would probably think how their lives would be different if they had
had the baby.
Furthermore, there are many people in the world that cannot conceive for many different reasons and would do anything for a child, therefore they
would adopt. Instead of a woman having a termination because she think she is unable to cope then she could have the baby and then put it up for
adoption. Sometimes in these situations women have the baby and they often change their mind about having the baby put up for

Argumentative Essay On Abortion
Abortion has always been an incredibly controversial topic. It has been one of the most widely discussed issues in the American culture for decades.
Abortion is a discussion of human interaction, in which emotions, ethics, and law all come together. In many cases, people on both sides of the
argument have valid points and take moral positions. A pro–choice position would assert that the decision to terminate a pregnancy lies the mother and
that the government has no right to interfere or step in and make that decision. On the other hand, the position of pro–life advocates argue that life
begins at the moment of conception. They believe that because the embryo or fetus is a human life and that one has no moral right to abort it. This
theory argues that this human has no power or say in the matter and is rendered helpless from advocating for itself. Although abortion is a morally and
emotionally charged issues, it is ultimately protected under the 14th amendment. The most common reasons for abortion include but are not limited to,
teen pregnancy, rape, and health issues.
Rape is one of the most prominent possibilities as to why a woman would choose to terminate her pregnancy. Though it is a tough decision to make,
it is possible to be faced with keeping the child or ending the life of the fetus. In some cases, women make the choice to end their pregnancy knowing
how they might treat their child. The women is most likely to hate her rapist and may worry if they move forward with the pregnancy, they would
project this hate onto the child because it reminds them of such a painful memory.According to Rachel Perry, "One percent of women in a
cross–sectional study of women's reasons for choosing abortion reported that their pregnancy had resulted from rape" (67–73). In addition to the
pregnancy, the health consequences of rape can include physical injury, sexually transmitted disease, and mental health problems, including
post–traumatic stress disorder and substance abuse.
There are many ways of coping with the effects of rape, and "with some studies suggesting rape may result in higher rates of pregnancy than consensual
intercourse" (Wikipedia).
Another big issue leading to the decision to terminate a fetus is

Abstract
Abortion is a social topic that is highly controversial in the United States. It is highly fought out through the reaffirmation of laws, politics, and even
through the opposing viewpoints of different people. I completely oppose the idea of abortion, but that is because I interpret it differently than people
of other morals or characteristic values perceive it. My viewpoint is that abortion is like an inhumane act of murder, because you are taking away the
life of someone who has not had the chance to experience it. True as it may be that that child may have been abandoned and led off to a worse life,

Abortion is a topic that, to me specifically, should be banned, but it has it's owns reason and opposing views that allows it to keep on going.
When looking through the opposing views on abortion there are two sides that you may know as "pro–life" and "pro–choice" which names literally
stand for their true meaning. "Those for "pro–life" believe that abortion is murder, while those for "pro–choice" see it in the way that the woman has
the right to choose what she does with her own child.
I can not relate to the choices of abortion, but I do have an interest in this topic for other reasons. To be honest, I do like viewing the opposing views
and comments about this topic, but I also am on the side of "pro–life". I completely disagree with the ideas of "pro–choice", because I have never been
put in a situation against abortion, but how do those parents know who they are setting up to an untimely end? I believe that there are kids that could
become the greatest innovators and inventors of technological and societal advancement in their own generation, yet they never had the chance to
prove their own worth. That may be a sentimental reason, but that is just the way I view abortion. There are other ways that people view abortion and

If you really feel that you are not ready to be a parent then you could at least give the baby up for adoption, and make the baby's life and the family
adopting the baby life a lot happier. There are many other options out there people just have to open their eyes and consider them, instead of killing.
There is another bad side of getting an abortion. Doctors usually say that there are few to none complication after an abortion but that's not true.
According to the Wyn report with statistics from twelve different countries, women who have had a pervious induced abortion have their ability to
bear children in the future permanently impaired. There is also an increase in infertility, the chances of having a pregnancy in the tube increases, and
premature deliver increases. Abortion also causes emotional problems or changes. I quote Ft. John L. Grady, medical examiner for Florida State
Attorneys office," I believe it can be stated with certainty that abortion causes more deep–seated guilt, depression and mental illness than it ever cures".
Another idea we have to realize as human beings is if we kill babies with confidential defects before they are born, why not after birth, why not any
human being we declare defective?
In conclusion, abortion is wrong. I believe very strongly that abortion should be illegal. "Thy shall not kill" is what the Bible says, so why are so many
people sinning? If it's not right to kill

Abortion has been one of the biggest controversies of all time. However many People agree to disagree on whether abortion is a legal or illegal

failure, unable to support or care for a child, to prevent a child with birth defects or medical conditions, and a pregnancy in resulting from rape or

children's physical or mental health but the mother must have the permission of two doctors. In 1990 the law was changed again:...show more content...
This is similar to the suction procedure except that the abortionist inserts a curette, a loop–shaped steel knife up into the uterus. He then cuts the
placenta and baby into pieces and scrapes them out into a basin. Bleeding is usually profuse. D & X (Partial Birth) Also used for advanced
pregnancies. The cervix is dilated to allow passage of a ring forceps. A foot or lower leg is located and pulled into the vagina. The baby is
extracted in breech fashion until the head is just inside the cervix. The baby's legs hang outside the woman's body. With the baby facedown,
scissors are plunged into the baby's head at the nape of the neck and spread open to enlarge the wound. A suction tip is inserted and the baby's
brain is removed. The skull collapses and the baby is delivered. Sharp and suction curettage is continued until the walls of the womb are clean.
These methods may seem cruel but a baby can have distasterous affects on the mothers' lives. If abortions were made illegal the number of teenage
or unmarried pregnacys' would rise dramatically. Also, victims of rape or incest may not want to have the baby, as it would remind them of their
terrible experiences. A lot of teenagers would be unable to cope with a baby; a lot of teenagers are getting pregnant at the age of 13/14. To have to
bring up a baby could take away any chance of a career and the baby

What Is Abortion Essay

  • 1. What is Abortion Essay What is Abortion Abortion is the term used to describe the premature expulsion of the foetus from the womb, or the operation to cause this. It is when a pregnant woman intentionally gets rid of her child before it is fully developed. Abortion is an extremely topical issue and has been practised for many centuries, although it only became legal in Britain in 1967. This was because an act was passed to encourage women not to have dangerous 'Back Street Abortions'. People who had no medical experience often carried these out. The Abortion Act allowed abortions to be carried out, if two doctors agreed that: В· The mother's life was in danger В· Grave permanent injury to the mother's...show more content... Many organisations offer advice and support for different situations. 'LIFE' is a pro–life organisation that believe that abortion shouldn't be practised. They teach that every life is sacred and that it begins right at the moment of conception. However, there are pro–choice groups who believe that it is the woman's own choice. Although Jesus never actually used the term abortion, nor does he preach about the idea of getting rid of an unborn child he does tell us that we 'Shall not kill'. This rule could be applied to abortion, as you are technically killing someone. There are frequent reminders in the New Testament to love God and you neighbour as yourself. With this lesson in mind, Christians could form the opinion that if they were an unborn baby, would they want someone to choose whether they would ever actually make it to being a human being in the real world. Another important message in the gospel of Luke is

  • 3. Essay on Opinion on Abortion Opinion on Abortion My own opinion of abortion is very varied. There are so many different reasons for abortions. Every woman who has had one will have had reasons. I am sure they wouldn't have decided in a few minutes that they were going to abort their baby. They would have thought long and hard about what to do. I put myself in the position of someone else. If I got pregnant now would I really be able to keep it. I would, for one, have to stop school and miss out on the education I would need to bring up a child. I probably wouldn't be able to cope with the emotional pressures and cope with the pain of giving birth. It all seems so easy before you see it through someone else's eyes. Women...show more content... Today, abortion is illegal in very few countries–even those with religious beliefs and traditions. During the 1960s and 1970s many governments relaxed their abortion laws and made it easier for women to terminate unwanted pregnancies. In a few countries such as the Soviet Union abortion is seen as an alternative to contraception. In China women are forced to have abortions because of the one–child–per–family policy. This policy is aimed at reducing the country's overpopulation problems. Reasons for abortions with different circumstances If you are thinking that there are no valid reasons for abortion, just imagine a fourteen year old girl who has been raped. How can she be expected to get on with her life and ever recover if she has a baby? How can she receive a full education? Every time she looks at the baby, she will be reminded of her terrible experience. In some countries, for example, Russia and China, there is an absence of family planning. Abortion is used as a form of birth control. In Russia, a woman has on average four or five abortions in her lifetime. In China there are over ten million abortions annually. I think that the amount of money spent on abortions in these countries could be better spent on promoting contraceptives and family planning. I do not agree Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Rhetorical Essay On Abortion Abortion is a woman or teen pregnancy and end up making a choice of giving up on the baby, they go to the doctor and they perform a procedure that is going to kill the baby. People donВґt realize how bad and horrible it is killing a baby they donВґt know the exact representation of it. Meg Meeker a pediatrician had thought that having an abortion was acceptable because the woman can decide what they want for their body, until one day she seen a video of how exactly an abortion happens. She thought it was cruel on how they got rid of it. Obviously the women donВґt see because they make them turn away. Meg described that ВЁA woman laying down on her back, her face turned away. He talked to the sound of the vacuum used to extract the arms, the legs, and the shredded torso of the tiny childВЁ. People donВґt feel bad because they donВґt see exactly how the process is, they donВґt know whatВґs going on or else they would feel bad. Yes 99% of the women donВґt regret their...show more content... Yes nowadays thereВґs lots of reasons to get an abortion but by now you should know what youВґre getting yourself into. And youВґre gonna have to deal with the circumstances of the decisions you made even if they were a mistake. Yes mistakes happen and you're gonna learn from them but young innocent children donВґt deserve thus kind of cruelty. If the mother is obligated to have that baby and isn't happy with it there are other families that will be happy to accept it. ThatВґs why thereВґs something called abortion and the children are gonna have a much more happier life with them. My logos is ВЁabortion is murder to an unborn innocent childВЁ and ВЁalso there is the option of adoptionВЁ, The source I got this information from is blogspot.com. And my pathos is that many people have different type of emotions but most of mine are sad and like also confused because like how can people harm a baby that isn't even Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 7. Argumentative Essay : Pro-Choice Abortion Pro–choice Abortion Argumentative Paper When it comes to abortion, everyone has a slightly different view. Whether one believes that no one, or everyone, should be allowed to get an abortion, the same question comes into play: Is abortion ethical? In addition, when does a human life actually start? Without concrete facts, we can only do so much with those questions, which is why this is such a controversial topic. We need to consider all the facts and information available. For example, whether or not a fetus feels pain, how old the fetus is, and what condition the pregnant woman is in. The main argument comes down to pro–life versus pro–choice. After doing extensive research, I have come to agree with the side of pro–choice, meaning that...show more content... Every individual defines pain differently, so "without interrogation, we cannot know for sure what the fetus feels" (British Medical Journal). As we know, asking a fetus if it feels pain is impossible, and assuming that they do could be wrong. Considering these statements, abortion cannot technically be called murder. Fetuses are not self–aware, rational, or attentive like humans. From a religious standpoint, I understand why people consider abortion murder. A fetus has the potential for life, and that they consider that potential life a real life. However, stretching this idea farther, sperm also have the potential for life, but many of these people are not against sex or masturbation. Fertilization has not yet occurred, but the potential is still there. According to scientific evidence, a fetus has a fifty to seventy percent chance of becoming a feasible human being. These chances are relatively high, but not a guarantee, and not yet a life. One cannot kill something that is not yet alive. Other topics in regards to abortion are health and rape. Rape is a very touchy subject and still very controversial when it comes to abortion. If a woman is raped and gets pregnant, she should be allowed to get an abortion. She did not get a choice in that matter, so she should have the choice on whether or not she want to have a baby. Rapes cause emotional trauma, and no one Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 8. David B. Mahoney's Essay On Abortion I sat in the back right corner of my fourth grade classroom next to my best friend, Hannah. We dutifully took notes, answered questions, and tried not to get in trouble for talking. Hannah had been my closest confidante through elementary school crushes, a shoulder to cry on over A–minuses, the kindest listener when I complained about being stuck with underachievers in group projects, and when my vision got blurry, she became my eyes. There was never a question of legitimacy between us – why would I lie about needing help? So she whispered the words to me while I squinted at the whiteboard, trying to will the smudges into letters. In David B. Mahoney's essay "A Normative Construction of Gulf War Syndrome," the "conflict between...show more content... Very early in his presidency, Donald Trump reinstated and strengthened the Mexico City Policy, also known as the global gag rule. Introduced by Ronald Reagan in 1984, this policy "stop[s] funding for international groups which perform or provide information on abortions" (BBC News) even in countries where abortion is legal. This violates medical ethics by preventing organizations from not only practicing necessary health care but also providing vital health information. Women's health is rarely prioritized, and sexual health is seen as taboo, so it is difficult for women to find access to information and services except through specific organizations. When these organizations are threatened, their health and safety is compromised, and lives are put in danger. Because the global gag rule can cut funding, these clinics will be unable to provide any services, like birth control, STD testing and treatment, cancer screenings, ectopic pregnancy surgery, endometriosis treatment, and healthcare during and after pregnancy. For the greater good of the women of the community, doctors are incentivized to follow the rule of no abortion even when it is in the mother's best Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 9. Outline For Abortion Research Paper Descriptive: Abortion is the termination of an unplanned or unwanted pregnancy. It is a controversial issue affecting our society and raises ethical issues. Abortions can be performed before nine weeks from the last menstrual period and is performed either surgically with the removal of the fetus or medically with drugs. From nine weeks until 14 weeks, an abortion is performed by a dilatation and suction curettage procedure. After 14 weeks, abortions are then performed by an evacuation procedure. After 20 weeks of gestation, abortions can be performed by labor induction, prostaglandin labor induction, saline infusion, hysterectomy, or dilatation and extraction. Illustrative: Imagine a small, dull colored room where the windows are closed off and inside lies a single medical bed with pointy silver objects surrounding it. The coldness of the room gives you chills but not because of the temperature. Even more chilling are the internal struggles a woman will have to fight through. Does she want to do this? No, she just feels like it is her only choice. She reluctantly enters the room where she will experience a moment that she will never be able to erase from her mind. For the rest of her life, she will be left wondering if she made the right choice. The doctor disrupts her internal questioning with a casual greeting. He does not smile when he introduces himself and she is glad about this because how twisted it would be to show any sign of joy in a place such as this. She Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 10. Essay on Abortion: A Woman's Right to Choose Terminating the life of a child without allowing it to even be born has been one of the most controversial topics for centuries. Abortion is the term used to identify the act of intentionally interrupting pregnancy and not allowing the embryo (first stage of development) or fetus (eight weeks and on) to continue its normal process. Each woman has different reasons to decide to commit abortion and is either willing to put an end to their child's life or permit it to live, even if it is unwanted. If it's right or wrong, just or unfair is the main argument of the continuous controversy. In past centuries, before the mid 1800s abortion was legally, commonly, and freely practiced. Yet, around twenty states started to pass laws to make the ...show more content... The law includes the coverage of abortion by insurance plans, even though an executive order declared it to be in limited situations (Jost). The debate seems to continue, since many want to have the right to pick and others do not tolerate the fact of abortion even being legal in the country. Pro–choice followers obviously oppose the idea that women have to keep their babies regardless of the situation. Indeed, a happy and stable marriage is not always the scenario behind a pregnancy. Rape and even incest could have been the cause and the probability of the mother wanting the baby in the middle of such an uncomfortable setting is slim to none. Usually, a baby that is a result of an incest encounter has an endless amount of defects and babies as a product of rape can cause serious mental and emotional trauma to the mother. A pro–choice advocate would probably present a sentimental scenario where a twelve–year–old young girl wants to abort because she was brutally raped by her father. In such tragic rape situations it is difficult to condemn the mothers' choice. Death and injuries can also be prevented with the legalization of abortion. Women with no choice could tend to go to "back–alley" medical services that are unsafe, illegal and untrustworthy. The year before abortion was legalized 39 women died of illegal abortions (Johansen). With legal and safe abortions women could do their will without risking their lives. It is even speculated that legal abortion is safer Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 11. Pro And Con Essay On Abortion The issue of abortion is a topic in which people have strongly contrasting views. I will examine both sides of the argument, specifically whether or not abortion should be illegal and then come to a conclusion. It is claimed that when a baby is conceived, life is started. Taking that babies life is the same as taking another person's life, which in this society, is viewed as wrong. So why is abortion different? Many women (who's pregnancy is unplanned) discover they're pregnant around 4/5 weeks into the pregnancy. At this point in your pregnancy, the foetus has developed a heart which only has one chamber rather than four, but the babies heart still beats at 100 beats per minute. Most abortions must be carried out before twenty–four weeks of pregnancy. At this stage, the babies brain has grown rapidly and their lungs are developed enough to help her survive, if she was born prematurely. This is the latest stage that a woman can have an abortion and at this point, the baby is a human being and would be able to survive if...show more content... (Statistics from https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/8765248) Rape is never the victims fault so why should the women carry the child that was conceived against her will. Well, hypothetically let's say that she delivers the child and a few years later she no longer wants the child because it brings back bad memories. Would she have the right to murder the child? No because he is a human and under Article 2: The Right to Life, no one can try to end your life, no matter the circumstances of your conception. This still applies to when the child is still inside their mother as they are a living being. Another argument that 'Pro–Choice' people make is that there isn't enough land and resources for the growing population so abortion is in a way, population control. However, would you kill a born child because you thought there were too many for the planet? The answer is no, because taking a life is Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Essay on Abortion and Religion Abortion and Religion Procured abortion, the deliberate killing and removal of a foetus from the womb, is hotly debated and very controversial in today's society. As well as the views of some modern moral philosophers, the Christian view on this situation is to be discussed in this analysis. The Teaching of the Bible ========================= All Christians accept the Bible as a source of authority. The Bible has an impact on Christians' faith and decisions as it shows them how to lead their lives, as God wants them to. If a Christian were to turn to the Bible for guidance on Abortion, they would find no direct teaching, concerning the topic. There are however sources in the Bible...show more content... A factor that shows the sanctity of a human life is the relationship between God and a person. Christians believe that they can experience God's presence and there are several reasons to why a person can be at one with God. In the Old Testament it says that God made man in his own image: 'So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him, male and female he created them.'[4] This Biblical statement claims that there is a divine link between man and God and that we reflect God's image. Therefore it could be said that a person's life is divine and sacred as it represents God as his own creation and this echoes the idea of the sanctity of life. Another example that shows the relationship a person has with God is the following: 'Thou didst form my inward parts; Thou didst knit me together in mothers womb; I praise thee for thou art fearful and wonderful. Wonderful are thy works! Thou knowest me right well; my frame was not hidden from thee, when I was being made in secret, intricately wrought in the depth of the earth.'[5] The belief illustrated here is that a person has a relationship with God from conception. It is said here that God knows a

When touching the subject of abortion, one must consider that there are two sides battling for control. That is right, abortion has literally turned into a war zone where even the unlikely of individuals do the unthinkable. Each side has their motives and methods for contradicting the other. For instance, there are cases and events that support both sides of this issue. For starters let us look at this situation from a political standpoint in favor of pro–choice advocates. In the infamous case of Roe v. Wade, Jane Roe's two lawyers, Sarah Weddington and Linda Coffee, "sought to challenge the legality of Texas's antiabortion law" (Roe v. Wade). Such ethics derive from religious beliefs, as those of Randall Terry, "leader of the militant anti–abortion group: Operation Rescue" (Randall Terry). Terry has led many protests at abortion clinics, causing public disruption and more than fifty arrests. Along his side are his wife and members of his church. This further shows the kind of people in support of life for the child to be. Although their reason to protest is rational, the methods for spreading their ideas are questionable. NAF (National Abortion Federation) has "reported more than five thousand crimes against pro–choice organizations, clinic members, and even new reports" (Raw Story). Among these crimes are, burglary, vandalism, trespassing, and stalking. In other words, these people claim to be pro–life, but will put lives in danger to send a message.Represented above is a political cartoon of a man holding up a sign saying: "PRO–government in your private LIFE." However, even though a woman may have a perfectly good reason to have an abortion she would still be killing a human life. Some women think they are doing the right thing at the time but when it comes to a later stage in life, many of them can regret their decisions. It would probably be at the back of their mind– they would think about it when they got the chance to. They would probably think how their lives would be different if they had had the baby. Furthermore, there are many people in the world that cannot conceive for many different reasons and would do anything for a child, therefore they would adopt. Instead of a woman having a termination because she think she is unable to cope then she could have the baby and then put it up for adoption. • 17. Argumentative Essay On Abortion Abortion has always been an incredibly controversial topic. It has been one of the most widely discussed issues in the American culture for decades. Abortion is a discussion of human interaction, in which emotions, ethics, and law all come together. In many cases, people on both sides of the argument have valid points and take moral positions. A pro–choice position would assert that the decision to terminate a pregnancy lies the mother and that the government has no right to interfere or step in and make that decision. On the other hand, the position of pro–life advocates argue that life begins at the moment of conception. They believe that because the embryo or fetus is a human life and that one has no moral right to abort it. This theory argues that this human has no power or say in the matter and is rendered helpless from advocating for itself. Although abortion is a morally and emotionally charged issues, it is ultimately protected under the 14th amendment. The most common reasons for abortion include but are not limited to, teen pregnancy, rape, and health issues. Rape is one of the most prominent possibilities as to why a woman would choose to terminate her pregnancy. Though it is a tough decision to make, it is possible to be faced with keeping the child or ending the life of the fetus. In some cases, women make the choice to end their pregnancy knowing how they might treat their child. The women is most likely to hate her rapist and may worry if they move forward with the pregnancy, they would project this hate onto the child because it reminds them of such a painful memory.According to Rachel Perry, "One percent of women in a cross–sectional study of women's reasons for choosing abortion reported that their pregnancy had resulted from rape" (67–73). In addition to the pregnancy, the health consequences of rape can include physical injury, sexually transmitted disease, and mental health problems, including post–traumatic stress disorder and substance abuse. There are many ways of coping with the effects of rape, and "with some studies suggesting rape may result in higher rates of pregnancy than consensual intercourse" (Wikipedia). In the case of abortion, I am a pro–choice supporter, who believes that people should be free to make choices that involve their life and do not involve the harming of the health of others. If America is claimed as the land of freedom, opportunity, and equality then women should be free to choose what they do with their bodies, have opportunities to choose what they do with their unborn baby, and be equal in their representation in the governments and matters that involve them and their bodies. Women should be free and responsible and free to make their own choices that affect their bodies; they should not be restricted in making a decision that affects their future especially in the case of abortion. "Those for "pro–life" believe that abortion is murder, while those for "pro–choice" see it in the way that the woman has the right to choose what she does with her own child. I can not relate to the choices of abortion, but I do have an interest in this topic for other reasons. To be honest, I do like viewing the opposing views and comments about this topic, but I also am on the side of "pro–life". Doctors usually say that there are few to none complication after an abortion but that's not true. According to the Wyn report with statistics from twelve different countries, women who have had a pervious induced abortion have their ability to bear children in the future permanently impaired. There is also an increase in infertility, the chances of having a pregnancy in the tube increases, and premature deliver increases. Abortion also causes emotional problems or changes. I quote Ft. John L. Grady, medical examiner for Florida State Attorneys office," I believe it can be stated with certainty that abortion causes more deep–seated guilt, depression and mental illness than it ever cures". Another idea we have to realize as human beings is if we kill babies with confidential defects before they are born, why not after birth, why not any human being we declare defective? Abortion is the termination of a pregnancy through removal of the embryo or fetus. I support abortion for the following reasons. Birth control failure, unable to support or care for a child, to prevent a child with birth defects or medical conditions, and a pregnancy in resulting from rape or incest. A woman should have the right to do what she pleases with her own body. For example, say a woman is pregnant with no desire of keeping the child and there was no clinic to help her remove the fetus. Legally a woman can have an abortion when she is up to 24weeks pregnant except if the mothers' life is in danger. Some people see this as killing innocent babies but others see it as a rescue for teenage mothers' etc. Abortion was only legalized in 1861but was only carried out if the mothers life was at risk. However this changed with the introduction of the Abortion Act (1967) by the Liberal MP David Steel. The cervix is dilated to allow passage of a ring forceps. A foot or lower leg is located and pulled into the vagina. The baby is extracted in breech fashion until the head is just inside the cervix. The baby's legs hang outside the woman's body. With the baby facedown, scissors are plunged into the baby's head at the nape of the neck and spread open to enlarge the wound. A suction tip is inserted and the baby's brain is removed. The skull collapses and the baby is delivered. Sharp and suction curettage is continued until the walls of the womb are clean. These methods may seem cruel but a baby can have distasterous affects on the mothers' lives. If abortions were made illegal the number of teenage or unmarried pregnacys' would rise dramatically. Also, victims of rape or incest may not want to have the baby, as it would remind them of their terrible experiences.
