Introduction The social problem I will address is complex and has major implication for an entire generation of immigrants. After reading many articles
and testimonies, the social problem/issue is the lack of opportunity for immigrants to achieve upward mobility. Per the American Immigration Council,
here in the United States of America annually, approximately 65,000 undocumented children complete their secondary education. while many U.S.
citizens their ages are applying to college, joining the military, or just perusing a career, many of these 65,000 students are unable to. These immigrant
children often excel academically in K– 12 education, are members of student government associations, and exert great personal character. Still, their
upward mobility to achieve their dreams often stagger after graduation. While being some of the brightest and most promising students; by not holding
U.S. citizenship status these students are unable to apply for college, seek gainful employment, or frankly even acquire a driver license. According to
the American Immigration Council (2010), it is estimated that only between 5 and 10 percent of undocumented high–school graduates go to college.

It also makes up for some of the states that can't plant crops or do as much farming due to their environment and/or landscape. Another positive is if
there is a loss of crops in other parts of the United States, Iowa could carry the weight of those lost crops but it can also be a negative because if Iowa is

In this essay, I interview subject (x) based on topics of political issues of (a) role of government, (b) economic, (c) social, (d) military and (e)
environment. I interview and analyzed responses to determine what extent does my interviewee conform to ideological categories of left or right.
The interviewee is a white male 65 year's old, retiree and resides in Bayside, Wisconsin. The interviewee has a bachelor's degree, divorced, once a
brewery worker, has one son and is currently disabled. The questioned presented first a general and broad. I then relayed a relevant current event
question that tied in with the overall subject. This approach I discovered became useful in determining what ideology the subject sided with.
In regards to the role of government the interviewee tended to be one sided revealing leftist or the Democratic ideology. I asked, "Do you support a
large government or a small government?" The subject responded that the "government needs to be larger and more involved in regulation to end
corruption." In this question the subject's response sides with the left, "which believes in expanded government, and the right believes in limited

Social policy refers to the policies used by government for welfare and social protection (Spicker, P.) that are usually made by central Government and
implemented by local authorities to tackle current social issues such as poverty and racism. Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland have now devolved
and have their own laws and legislations on several issues.
This essay will explore three contemporary issues in relation to social policy, whilst supporting these issues with legislation and economic context for
each issue.
The three issues that will be explored are: Welfare, Health and Pensions. Defining social policy, and understanding social policy becomes imperative, to
enable understanding of the contemporary issues within it.
Social policy was introduced in the early 19th Century, post war. At this time,William Beveridge introduced the idea of a Welfare State to address
poverty. He released a report for social reform known as the 'five giants' within society: squalor, disease, ignorance, idleness and want. The welfare
state brought many positive improvements in Britain and Government passed reforms to address the poverty levels, introducing "cradle to grave
"support. The National Health Service was set up which gave free health care to all and laws and Acts were put in place to help the young, the old,

Immigration has been a major topic since the beginning of the United States of America. This phenomenon is what helped the establishment of this
country; and even today it continues to have an impact in in most aspects of the lives of North American's. The subject has also brought much criticism
and created divided opinions about its immediate and long term impact. Migration itself it's not a problem, but the modern dilemma of who is allowed
to migrate and reside permanently in a country "legally." It is interesting to explore this subject under three basic theories that Sociology deals with:

The social issue that I chose for my action paper is Poverty. Poverty is an issue that interests me not only because it affects so many people in the
world every single day, but also because as a member of the lower class it affects me as well. Poverty is defined as being "the state or condition of
