As a double bassist, I never imagined myself wanting to become a soloist. To be frank, I would want to throw myself out of a moving car the way
Steve Carell did when Julianne Moore told him she cheated on him, in the movie, Crazy, Stupid, Love, every time my teacher told me to audition or
compete as a soloist – but I did it anyway because it helped me develop as a musician, and I always seemed to get surprisingly good results.

After listening to them rehearse Tchaikovsky's Romeo and Juliet Overture, I went up to find a cello box in front of the orchestra. I thought to myself,
"Great. I'm already afraid of heights, and now I will be sitting another half foot above the ground on the edge of the stage. If I fall off, that's another
half of a foot." Anna arranged it so that I would play on a cello box so that my sound could project out. The thing we dreaded the most was the idea of
my sound being drowned out by the orchestra. It wasn't as difficult as the first rehearsal because I knew what to expect, but it was still physically
difficult. I also experienced the most painful hand cramp while I was up playing, and with the weirdest bow hold, I played through the rest of the
rehearsal. Luckily, Anna was there to tell my conductor, Dr. Cobbs, how I wanted the piece to be and the more we rehearsed, the better we sounded.
The next day was judgement day; the moment of truth. We had our final rehearsal two hours before the concert, and I sat in the green room
waiting for my cue. I looked at myself in the mirror and made sure everything was ready; my instrument tuned and warmed up? Check. My dress

Nathanial Ayers portrayed the "textbook" diagnosis of schizophrenia appropriately throughout the movie. During The Soloist, Nathanial experienced

influence an individual's social participation, daily activities, and occupational performance (Toglia et al., 2013). Nathanial showed dysfunction in
social interaction and displayed social inappropriateness. Tamminga and Medoff (2000) research showed the psychosocial disability could come from

Synopsis

Lopez met Nathaniel Ayers in a park, not far from the news station. Nathaniel was a homeless man, playing a two–string violin when he first
encountered Steve. Steve found out Nathaniel was a former student at the Julliard School for music but did not graduate due to the side effects of his
schizophrenia. Nathanial had been battling his symptoms since he was in his early teens. After writing an article about Nathanial, Steve received a
cello from a newspaper prescriber. The elderly woman asked Steve to give Nathaniel the instrument in hopes he would play it more often than she
could. Throughout the movie, Steve provided Nathanial places to live and opportunities for him to partake in musical events. After an incident at a

The homeless often don't have the ability to bathe, wash their clothing or shave. I have noticed true homeless people have more than just a
backpack with them. They sometimes carry with them or have nearby all they own. Shelters do not watch large amounts of stuff and homeless have
