Abstract
This study aims tРѕ explore thРµ motivations fРѕr tourists' choice Рѕf diverse tourism environments С–n Р° Third 'World country, Nigeria. Results
obtained from Р° questionnaire survey Рѕf 376 tourists randomly sampled from seven tourism destinations С–n Nigeria show that thРµ most prominent
motivations fРѕr tourist destination choice are self–actualization С–n an appreciative, educational or cultural context Р°nd leisure/recreational pursuits.
Attractiveness Рѕf destination, quality services, facilities/amenities, favourable location Р°nd accessibility Рѕf centres also emerged Р°s important
considerations С–n tourist destination choice. Table Рѕf...show more content...
Studies designed tРѕ examine thРµ motivation fРѕr travel by visitors have long attracted attention С–n Western environments. Sadly, thРµ situation С–n
thРµ Third World, especially С–n tropical Africa, has rarely been addressed (Chokor 1993; Awaritefe 2000). Empirical studies on thРµ motivation Р
ѕf
visitors tРѕ tropical Africa are lacking. There С–s Р° dearth Рѕf studies tРѕ shed light on why Africans themselves travel tРѕ tourism destinations within
tropical Africa Р°nd whether iting when compared tРѕ foreign groups. The reasons, motivation Р°nd values that underlie thРµ choice Рѕf various types
Рѕf destinations by both domestic Р°nd foreign visitor groups tРѕ tropical Africa are still unclear (Ojo etal. 1979; Chokor 1993). Notwithstanding this
area Рѕf neglect, Lee (1993) Р°nd Chokor (1993), both outstanding scholars С–n Third World tourism studies, observed that individual or group
variations С–n tourism values Р°nd motivations fРѕr travel are still not fully understood С–n thРµ tourism literature, generally. The research presented
here aims tРѕ make an empirical contribution tРѕ tourism motivation studies from diverse destination environments С–n Р° Third World African
country – Nigeria. As Р° kind Рѕf pioneering effort С–n thРµ much neglected field Рѕf tourism motivation studies С–n thРµ Third World, thРµ aims

The tourism industry Essay
Tourism is a major economic and social significant that has been recognized in both developed and developing countries. Tourism is the temporary
movement of people to destinations outside their normal places of work and residence. The activities undertaken during their stay in these destinations
by facilities are meant to cater the needs of the consumer. The act of traveling for pleasure is a luxury. Until recently only a restricted few had the time
and money to travel. Increasing leisure, higher incomes and greatly enhanced mobility have combined to enable more people to partake in travel.
The concept of wide–scale travel away from home is a relatively new phenomenon. In the past few people enjoyed free time, and any was usually

It is necessary to know what people consider a need so that we can discover how these can be fulfilled. These can include: physiological needs (ex.
hunger, thirst, sleep...), safety needs (ex. freedom from threat of danger), love/social needs (ex. feeling of belonging, affection, friendship...), esteem
needs (ex. self–respect, achievement, self confidence, reputation...), and self –actualization needs (ex. self–fulfillment and realizing one's potential).
People are motivated to travel t leave behind the personal or interpersonal problems of their environment and to obtain personal or interpersonal
rewards. The personal rewards are mainly sense of competence, challenge, learning, exploration and relaxation. The interpersonal rewards surface from
social interaction.
There has probably never been a more exciting time for the study of tourism geography than the present. Both as an industry and as a social
phenomenon, tourism is renowned for the speed and scale of change. But at the dawn of the twenty–first century, the challenges of change seem more
daunting than ever. These are especially evident in terms of globalization, the new consumer, and the democratic challenge. Globalization represents the
intensification of the linkages between places, which increasingly shape the global as well as being shaped by it. Above all it signifies the deepening of
competition in the tourism industry, as both the reach of transnational

Business Tourism Essay example
According to the ICCA there are two main types of tourism, leisure tourism and business tourism; the IMEX defines tourism as 'the provision of
facilities and services to the millions of delegates who annually attend meetings, congresses, exhibitions, business events, incentive travel and corporate
hospitality"[1] however there is no commonly used definition for business tourism as there are many different aspects to the terms of the meeting
industry. Davidson 2003 and Swarbrooke 2001 state that 'business tourism is concerned with people travelling for purposes which are related to their
work. As such it represents one of the oldest forms of tourism, man having travelled for the purpose of trade since very early times.' [2]

Each of these has a considerable affect on the business tourism industry and could help improve the ? for shugborough.
Conferencing is one of the largest sectors of business tourism according to the British conference market trends survey 2001 estimated to be worth
ВЈ7.3 billion. There has been an increasing investment into global conferences industry infrastructure since the 1960's, which shows how important
business tourism in terms of the economy adding to the existing leisure tourism developments and prestige associated with high profile conferences. As
it is situated in Milford it is easily accessible from the M6 it makes it an ideal location to hold conferences, this would be possible through the use of
The Saloon situated in the mansion house, The Lichfield suite would also be suitable for smaller business events. Shugrbough halls facilities has the
ability to hold such things as business meetings for example team meetings, annual meetings, and company award ceremonies.
The second of the main types of business tourism is exhibitions. An exhibition is 'a professionally organized event that facilitates the meeting of buyers
and sellers in a cost effective manner' (business tourism partnership) [5]. Exhibitions are the 5th largest marketing medium
