Going To Graduate School Essay
I am some what apprehensive about if I want to go to graduate school. Especially for science majors graduate school is a large part of progressing
your career forward and improving your chances for other jobs. However the long and arduous process of graduate school scares me a bit,
especially because there isn't as much of flexibility as there is in undergraduate. Because of that, I really enjoyed the panelists talk about graduate
school. Yes, graduate school is as hard as I think it is. However, I should not sell myself short, I am going to UT one of the best schools in the
country and if I can make it here I can make it in graduate school. Another fear I had was that I had to go straight from four years of undergrad to
another four years,

500 Word Exit Essay For College Students
The next step of our lives
You're in your last year of college about to graduate, but first, the administration tells you that a 500–word exit essay is required. They want to see how
you justify and articulate your preparation for a post–graduate world and to demonstrate final evidence of your written communication skills, but who
seriously has time for that? I personally feel like it doesn't make sense for graduates to write an exit essay on top of buying caps and gowns, preparing
for their future, and also dealing with other problems.
Even though it's just a simple task , some college students try their hardest to avoid those types of things, especially during graduation week. During
graduation week, students are looking forward the time

6th Grade Graduation
My 6th Grade Graduation
After 6 years in elementary school, it was finally time to celebrate graduating from elementary school. It was not only a happy time graduating from
elementary, but also at the same time not a fun thing to do. It was the last day of school, the beginning of summer break, and the weather was sunny
and warm. Everyone in the multi use room were getting their breakfast and eating on tables with their friends. I was sitting at a table with my friends,
eating my breakfast, sitting next to me was my friends Eduard, Marcus, and Erik. While everyone was eating breakfast, our two 6th grade teachers
were presenting a slideshow of pictures and events that happened throughout the year such as pictures from science camp, pictures of working in the
school garden, pictures of field trips, and other activities we have done throughout the year.
After our teachers were...show more content...
When she was done with her speech, we had some free time to go around and talk to our friends, take pictures, sign yearbooks, and eat some of the
graduation cake. I was signing people's yearbooks and asking people to sign my yearbook, I got my yearbook signed by a lot of my friends and
also got it signed by my teacher. In my yearbook, people wrote mostly things that said goodbye and have a great summer. After that, I said goodbye
to my friends and went home, but before everyone left, my teacher gave everyone a small, blue envelope with her name on it. While traveling back
home, I opened the envelope and found an address, next to it was writing that said to send her letters of how it's like in middle school. When I got
home, there was already a lot of food in the kitchen because my parents were already setting up my graduation

Why I Want to Attend Graduate School Essay
I would like to Attend Capella University's Masters Program in School Counseling. I have always known that I wanted to work with children ever
since I can remember. Working with children is something that I have always enjoyed doing even if it was tutoring, or just being around them. The
reason I want to receive my Master's Degree in School Counseling is to become a Guidance Counselor. Being a guidance counselor you can make a
difference in a child's life, whether it's talking to them about their grades, peer pressure, or any of the things that children of all ages go through in
school and in life. The moment I knew I wanted to be a guidance counselor was at the age of 14, and attending middle school. I can remember my

The program that I was assigned to work with was the After School Program. At first I was just an assistant for the teachers, but then I became one
of the lead teachers. I helped with homework, reading, planning activities, creating the curriculum and a lot more. I stayed with the center
throughout the entire school year. When some of the kids came there they were struggling with certain subjects such as reading and math. When
they received their first report card the grades were kind of low, but after a while there grades slowly progressed and they were so excited to show
me there grades it made me so happy. It made me feel good to know that I made a difference in their lives. After I finished my needed hours for the
internship I still stayed at the center because I felt like the kids there needed me and I made a difference in their lives. I guess the director felt I
was such a huge help to the students that they decided to hire me full time. Due to lack of funding the center closed down and the students no
longer had a place to go. I still keep in contact with some of the parents and students just to see how they are doing and they all say the same thing, I
helped them stay on the right path. Every time I see one of them I know that I made a difference. I am now employed with the South Carolina
Department of Health and Human Services where I am a Medicaid Eligibility worker. I determine eligibility for

Language is a key part of any family, community, culture and the human race. Without language the world today would be much different. From
cavemen, to the Egyptian use of hieroglyphics, to Old English, to more than 6,500 languages spoken around the world today, the advances that humans
have made in language is remarkable and inspiring. The ability to speak, read, write and understand more than one language is also remarkable and
expands the liberties in life, especially for young people. High school students should be required to take at least two years of a foreign language class in
order to graduate, as many recent studies support the benefits of doing so. Students who have learned a foreign language in high school have proven to

Requiring two years of foreign language study for high school graduation would benefit students greatly as they move onto college. Acceptance rate,
ability to succeed in and graduation rate would increase greatly if all college students were bilingual. Some students would argue that taking a foreign
language class in high school would not benefit them after graduation, as they plan to study a major in which being multilingual is not essential. This
may seem reasonable as some majors, such as cosmetology or psychology may not ever use a foreign language nor require further study of a foreign
language. However, studies have shown that studying a foreign language builds more skills than just language. Memorization, critical thinking and
interpretation skills improve immensely in those students who take a foreign language class in high school ("Benefits and Opportunities" 1). Students
can then use these skills to improve academic performance in other areas, improving overall college success. Globalization has recently reached the
corporate world, and seemed to be instantaneous. Around 40 percent of large U.S. companies have reached overseas, allowing them to profit from the
markets of foreign countries. Due to the rapid increase of companies becoming multinational, major businesses seek to hire employees who are able to
speak more than one language, as multilingual candidates are equipped

My Five Year Plan After Graduation Essay
My Five Year Plan After Graduation
Five years after graduation I plan to obtain a master's degree in law enforcement. Right now I'am really not sure what I really want to truly do for the
rest of my life. The only thing I like doing is finding clues and figuring out the criminal in mystery books.
I know that sense I like doing that, it leads me to desiring a position as a detective or something dealing with the FBI.
Im thinking that its most likely that I will go to a university. If I do, I will go to the University of Phoenix. I'm attending the University of Phoenix
for a few reasons but I'm ultimately going to the university to become a detective. I want to be successful and rich so I can have all the good things in
life. I want...show more content...
So I finally decided that I'd have to study my way out of a middle class family. I'm working hard in school because it's vital for my future. I need that
education to accomplish all of the goals that I have set out for myself. Although, my truly main goal in life is really to become a detective. You will
see why below.
Police and detectives maintain law and order, collect evidence and information, and conduct investigations and surveillance. People depend on police
officers and detectives to protect their lives and property.Law enforcement officers, some of whom are State or Federal special agents or inspectors,
perform these duties in a variety of ways, depending on the size and type of their organization. In most jurisdictions, they are expected to exercise
authority when necessary, whether on or off duty. Being a detective might be dangerous and stressful, but I'am willing to take that risk. I know that in
addition to the obvious dangers of confrontations with criminals, officers need to be constantly alert and ready to deal appropriately with a number of
other threatening situations. Many law enforcement officers witness death and suffering resulting from accidents and criminal behavior. A career in
law enforcement may take a toll on officers' private lives. Candidates must be U.S. citizens, usually at least 20 years of age, and must meet rigorous

There I was, poised with the first draft of my masters thesis, ready to jack it under the rear wheels of my car so that I could vent my anger and
frustration. Never had I felt this kind of undiluted rage in dealing with a piece of writing. As far as I was concerned, the first draft was complete
and therefore the entire piece was finished; however, my thesis advisor didn't quite agree with me. A less deranged friend of mine talked me out of
repeatedly backing over my thesis, and convinced me that it didn't really matter if I did leave tire marks on it because I had multiple drafts on my
disk. But still, I knew that it would just feel so good to leave some tire tread on the paper.
I had not written a thesis as an undergrad, and I was...show more content...
So, when I came to the end of the first draft of my thesis, I was convinced I had produced a solid piece of writing and that I was finally, and
thankfully, done with it. At the point at which I was ready to jack the thesis under my rear tires, I knew I had worked hard on this piece, harder
than I had ever worked on a piece of writing in my life. It was certainly the longest piece of writing that I had ever produced; yet I had erroneously
equated length with good quality. I had done no revising to this piece, nor had I achieved any distance from it in order set it aside to come back to it
at a later time.
In the past, I had not written drafts of my papers; I had been told since high school that I was a reasonably decent writer. I was a comparative literature
major in college, and again, I had earned solid grades on my writing assignments, and I had worked hard, but I had not slaved over draft after draft. I
tended to write well under pressure (or so I thought), but I left no time for revisions. Usually, I was finishing up the paper within hours of the class in
which it was due. Up until working with Peter, I had thought that this process worked fine for me; in fact I thought that it had worked better than fine.
However, Peter Heinegg changed all of that for me.
Peter agreed with me that I was done with the thesis, but he thought I was merely done with the FIRST draft of the piece. He told me my work was
good but there was

Essay For Graduate Assistantship
I am writing to express my interest in the Graduate Assistantship position with CSET Advising Center at Minnesota State, Mankato. I recognize and
value the importance that a graduate assistantship has, in terms of the educational and professional benefits. It is my hope that, as a graduate student to
take this role of graduate assistant for both personal as well as professional experience.
The job description suggests that the position requires an individual with high levels of maturity and responsibility. I believe I have the required
academic qualifications, skills and experience. I am currently pursuing my Masters in urban planning at Minnesota State University, Mankato, with 4.0
GPA of my first semester. I also graduated from MSU with Bachelor's Science degree in Environmental Science with 3.2 GPA.

A continuous debate that is currently receiving much attention is whether community service should be a mandatory graduation requirement. Preparing
students to effectively function in the real world is an important aspect of our education system. Today more than ever, there is an emphasis on having
experience before beginning work. Most jobs are now focused on looking past your resume to see what you have given back to the community.
Nevertheless, it is important that schools focus on preparing college students for the work force by mandating that they receive all of the necessary
exposure and experience. Numerous schools across the country have mandated that in order for their students to graduate, they must complete a
predetermined amount of community service. In Maryland, high school students are required to complete a minimum of 75 hours of service in order to
graduate. However, this decision has resulted in a lot of mixed responses. Advocates of this decision stress that mandatory community service opens
doors for students, while the opponents feel that it takes away valuable time from students who need to focus on their education. I believe that gaining
experience outside of school is critical for future success in life. To ensure that students are prepared to transition smoothly from school to work, they
need to be involved with the community while in school in order to build the leadership skills that are necessary to succeed.

Graduate School Goal
My goal of graduating from graduate school can be altered by world population because if the world population increases that means that there will
be more people applying to graduate school; most likely. If more people apply to graduate school, it will be harder for me to get in. The increase in
the world population would slim my chances of going to graduate school, and could alter my goal. Family type could alter my goal of going to
graduate school because if I wanted to start a family now I could. By starting a family, most of my time would be consumed by keeping up with
housework, watching the children, cooking and cleaning the house. All of these chores would keep me from spending the appropriate amount of time
studying, and focusing

Essay About My English Class
I can remember seeing that I had to take an English class my first semester of college. I was already overwhelmed with starting college, and having
to write college essays made me get even more nervous. I sat down with my mom and decided to look at the English classes available, and I finally
decided that I had to take an evening class to make it work in my schedule. The first day of English came and now looking back it was not as bad as I
thought. It made me a better writer and be where I am today. It may have taken me some time to get where I am today, but at least I am on the right
track. English Composition helped me realize that I am my own author and have strengths that I did not realize I had. When I first started college I did
not know what to expect with an English class. I liked writing about topics that interested me, but high school did not allow me to do that. I took

I learned many techniques from my professor. He helped me realize that it is okay to have your own opinion as long as you back it up. He showed
me that I am an author when I did not think I was. He also told us to read our essays out loud when we proofread, and I always did this technique
before submitting all my essays. I can remember having to write my first essay and I was scared, because I felt like I had to get a good grade. I
started thinking about what tools I could use to help me, and I decided to go to The Learning Center to help with my essay. When I went there they
would make edits to my essay and then explain what I should change. The tutor noticed I used multiple choppy sentences and commas in spots there
should not be. Sometimes I would even go twice to make sure I did not miss any minor mistakes. Going there helped me feel more confident as a
writer and I learned from my mistakes. I had many helpful techniques from multiple people that shaped me into the writer I am

Post Graduation Plans
After graduation my ideal plan would be to go into an industry career. I want to get into an engineering–related job first to provide myself with some
experience in that aspect of the field. I want to be selective in choosing the company that I begin my career with. I want to ensure that the company
that I choose has a program related that aids in helping their employees get advanced degrees. During my first year in my career I want to get into a
master's degree program either focusing on engineering or cyber security. I know there is a market for black women in both of those aspects of computer
science so I want to tailor myself so that I am a candidate that is highly sought after. This summer I participated in my second internship...show more

High School Graduation Essay
Graduation
Through out life people go through so many hardships. Whether it be good or bad there is always something that comes out of the situation. One of
the most exciting but yet scariest events would be graduation. For a lot of people, graduating from high school is a goal. It takes a lot of time and
effort to achieve that goal. In the long run, it opens a lot of opportunities for people to succeed. Graduation is the end of high school, and the
beginning to life. I can almost remember that day like it was yesterday, I awoke like on any other school day. It was a gorgeous May morning, therays
of sun flittered through my miniblinds blinding me as if I hadn't seen light in days. I sluggishly dragged my limp body out of...show more content...
Once I was finished, I gathered up my cap and gown and my car keys and headed out the door. All the graduates had to meet in the high school library
an hour before the ceremonies started, and I promised one of my best friends Tony that we would go together. I knocked on his back door and let
myself in like I always do. All of his family members were running throughout the house trying to get ready. I asked his mom where Tony was and
she proceeded to tell me that he was in the bathroom getting ready. I tapped on the door and walked in. He was standing in front of the mirror
with his cap and gown on. He look me straight in the eyes and said," Can you believe that we are about to graduate?" I replied," No, it really hasn't
set in yet." Tony finished getting ready, and then we left for the high school. The parking lot was filled with all the other seniors' cars. Tony and I
walked into the library ten minutes late like usual, and the principal had already started giving instructions. I found my place in line and then was all
ears. I couldn't help but look around at all the others. Smiles were plastered on their faces as if they had heard a hilarious joke. Once the principal
concluded his speech, the whole senior class paraded down the hallway to the commons in two uniform lines stopping just outside the gymnasium
doors. We could hear the band warming up and playing songs. All the people that were standing around me were bubbling

Reflective Essay Into Graduate School
I apologize for not answering this weekend, but I was busy with studying and homework for this week. The main thing that I am hopeful to gain
from working in the lab is the experience of what it is truly like to conduct research. I've always wanted to explore psychology, and as of right now,
the behavioral neuroscience pathway is the most appealing. So hopefully with the lab experience and working with faculty, when I graduate from here
in 2019, I'll be prepared to apply and hopefully be admitted into graduate school. When I envision my future career, it's between working on research at
a university or working with individuals in a counseling/clinical environment. This is what I plan on for now, but hopefully with more experience and

I Am A Graduate Student Essay
As the fall semester is quickly winding down, I often catch myself reflecting on the fact that I will be completing my second semester as a graduate
student. It certainly still is a surreal feeling for myself. I cannot even fathom the fact that I will be able to say that I have gotten through two semesters of
graduate school. The reason I bring this up is because when I first started the graduate program, I would often wonder whether I belonged in graduate
school. There was a sense of self–doubt. Therefore, I had trouble believing that I was worthy of being in this program. And, as ignorant as it may
sound, I attributed my acceptance into the program to luck and fate. I believe one major reason for feeling that way is due to the fact that I am the first
one in my family to attend college, so I felt incapable of achieving something that had never been done in my family. Furthermore, self–reflection
allows for me to reflect back on my collegiate journey and reminisce on my own personal obstacles and challenges that I have dealt with. It also
allows for me to be a more effective mentor. I see myself as a mentor who is empathic and understanding of those students who are also
first–generation college students who may be experiencing similar issues. Not necessarily only being able to be an effective mentor when working with
first generations students, rather learning new perspectives and understanding different cultural norms that can further assist me as I continue to develop

Essay about High School Graduation Day
High School Graduation Day
Many people have experienced the over whelming excitement that you feel as you approach high school graduation day, and for me, that's a day
that I will never forget. The amount of emotions that you feel on graduation day is unbelievable, and I have yet to experience anything else like it. I
can remember feeling anxious to celebrate the big day with my friends and family, while at the same time I was panicking thinking about having to

about being able to start a new chapter in my life once graduation day had passed. There are several reasons why I, still...show more content...
As the end of the night approached us, I couldn't stop thinking about how many mixed emotions I had about starting a whole new chapter in my
life. I couldn't wait to go to college, meet all new people, get a degree so that I could start my career path, but I knew that meant I had to say goodbye
to my two best friends, who were moving several hours away from me. This was one of the hardest things I had ever had to do in my life. We all cried
a little, and then made promises to keep in touch, and then we were off into the real world! I was very happy to be at this point in my life, but I was
scared deep down inside.
When I look back on this day now, I still remember every detail as if it was yesterday. I was so proud, and happy to be able to celebrate such an
amazing day with all of my friends and family. I know I will never forget how embarrassed I was walking across the stage in front of all of those
people, feeling famous after taking so many pictures, making our final memories together at our graduation parties, and then being a nervous wreck
when it was time to go out into the world without my best friends at my side. High school graduation day was a very emotional day for me, but it was

PERSONAL STATEMENT
My pursuit of becoming a School Counselor led me to apply to the School Counseling Master's Program at University of Maryland, College Park. I
am a former student at University of Maryland with a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. After graduating and teaching for two years in
Prince George's County Public Schools, I discovered my true passion lies not only in the classroom and students' academics, but playing a pivotal role
in the growth of their career, social, and personal development. Although I am no longer teaching full–time at the moment, my interaction with students
from diverse backgrounds left an indelible responsibility to continue making a difference in our students. The objectives and mission of the School
Counseling Master's Program at University of Maryland can best help my goal of becoming an effective counselor and leader who is an agent of
change to students and service the mental and emotional well–being of the younger generation.
My motivation for pursuing graduate studies specifically at University of Maryland is because of the rigor and quality of instruction from the College of
Education that I received firsthand. I had the privilege of undertaking the Elementary Education program as an undergraduate at University of
Maryland. The program proved to be rigorous with high expectations from professors, mentors, and supervisors. Although the demands of the program
were high, I was fully equipped with the knowledge and skills

My Graduation Essay
Stepping upon a simple stage was the best thing I could have ever done. Overseeing the multitude that was there to witness my every word, every
tremble, every emotion, and every heart beat, was then that I realized that the sentiment was real. It was essentially the end of time and I could not
bear to hold back what I no intentions of doing. Cry. Tears of joy darted down my face as I walked across the stage and received my ultimate gift.
With fancy inscription, my gift was entitled "Class of 2009". I had just graduated. "Ok seniors, everyone settle down and take your seat with your
name on it". The principle conducted everyone as we prepared to get ready for our practice graduation walk. Amusement and volume suffocated the

I could sense the stares glaring upon me as I switched positions every second in my chair. Two hours wasted out of my life before the orator called
my name. With a shamble walk, insensible arms, and a tilted head I deliberated myself across the front of the gym and out the door. One of my
classmates ran out the door and past me with glee assuring me that she would see me on Monday, the day of our graduation. Saturday and Sunday
went by fast. Vowing that God had cut off at least twelve hours off my weekend, Monday morning arrived. I had to be at the coliseum at nine a.m.
I woke up at eight thirty on the dot. With no essential worries and not a care in the world what I looked like, I merely jumped out of bed and put
my graduation dress, cap, and gown on. In six minutes flat I was ready to go. I made it out my room and past the mirror wall right before I was
about to leave. Looking at myself I knew I looked unacceptable, but my mind could not lead me to care. Right before I could make it out the door my
mom vented her words of refutation. "Where do you think you are going? You did not bother to brush your hair, wash your face nor take ashower."
Thinking quickly, I managed to use time as my excuse and scampered out the door to avoid any more questions. When I arrived at the coliseum, I was
quite confused considering I did not listening to anything the principal had stated at practice graduation

Pursuing A Graduate Degree Essay
Pursuing a graduate degree, specifically a PhD, is a decision that was made only in the last few years. This new direction was largely based on my
recent exposure to higher education in general, but to minority women in higher education specifically. To help explain how this exposure helped to
propel my desire to pursue a graduate degree at this point in my life, I feel it's important to provide you with some background information and
context of my upbringing. My parents are immigrated from Mexico shortly after getting married. Although my father had been coming to the United
States since he was a teen to work, he did this seasonally and would return to Mexico when the agricultural season ended. After my parents married
they settled in a small agricultural town in a coastal town of California. It is in this small town that my parents raised their 6 children. Holding on to
their traditional values we were raised in a traditional manner; from a young age the girls were expected to help out in the house and contribute by
doing housework while the boys were expected to help my father which included helping out in the fields. It was in this way that my parents tried to
instill many of the same values which they had acquired in their youth growing up in Mexico. Although they wanted us to do well in school it wasn't
something that was strongly emphasized. Perhaps it was due to their limited exposure to education and the lack of educational opportunities my parent's
had growing up.

Going To Graduate School Essay

  • 1. Going To Graduate School Essay I am some what apprehensive about if I want to go to graduate school. Especially for science majors graduate school is a large part of progressing your career forward and improving your chances for other jobs. However the long and arduous process of graduate school scares me a bit, especially because there isn't as much of flexibility as there is in undergraduate. Because of that, I really enjoyed the panelists talk about graduate school. Yes, graduate school is as hard as I think it is. However, I should not sell myself short, I am going to UT one of the best schools in the country and if I can make it here I can make it in graduate school. Another fear I had was that I had to go straight from four years of undergrad to another four years, Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. 500 Word Exit Essay For College Students The next step of our lives You're in your last year of college about to graduate, but first, the administration tells you that a 500–word exit essay is required. They want to see how you justify and articulate your preparation for a post–graduate world and to demonstrate final evidence of your written communication skills, but who seriously has time for that? I personally feel like it doesn't make sense for graduates to write an exit essay on top of buying caps and gowns, preparing for their future, and also dealing with other problems. Even though it's just a simple task , some college students try their hardest to avoid those types of things, especially during graduation week. During graduation week, students are looking forward the time Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. 6th Grade Graduation My 6th Grade Graduation After 6 years in elementary school, it was finally time to celebrate graduating from elementary school. It was not only a happy time graduating from elementary, but also at the same time not a fun thing to do. It was the last day of school, the beginning of summer break, and the weather was sunny and warm. Everyone in the multi use room were getting their breakfast and eating on tables with their friends. I was sitting at a table with my friends, eating my breakfast, sitting next to me was my friends Eduard, Marcus, and Erik. While everyone was eating breakfast, our two 6th grade teachers were presenting a slideshow of pictures and events that happened throughout the year such as pictures from science camp, pictures of working in the school garden, pictures of field trips, and other activities we have done throughout the year. After our teachers were...show more content... When she was done with her speech, we had some free time to go around and talk to our friends, take pictures, sign yearbooks, and eat some of the graduation cake. I was signing people's yearbooks and asking people to sign my yearbook, I got my yearbook signed by a lot of my friends and also got it signed by my teacher. In my yearbook, people wrote mostly things that said goodbye and have a great summer. After that, I said goodbye to my friends and went home, but before everyone left, my teacher gave everyone a small, blue envelope with her name on it. While traveling back home, I opened the envelope and found an address, next to it was writing that said to send her letters of how it's like in middle school. When I got home, there was already a lot of food in the kitchen because my parents were already setting up my graduation Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Why I Want to Attend Graduate School Essay I would like to Attend Capella University's Masters Program in School Counseling. I have always known that I wanted to work with children ever since I can remember. Working with children is something that I have always enjoyed doing even if it was tutoring, or just being around them. The reason I want to receive my Master's Degree in School Counseling is to become a Guidance Counselor. Being a guidance counselor you can make a difference in a child's life, whether it's talking to them about their grades, peer pressure, or any of the things that children of all ages go through in school and in life. The moment I knew I wanted to be a guidance counselor was at the age of 14, and attending middle school. I can remember my guidance...show more content... The program that I was assigned to work with was the After School Program. At first I was just an assistant for the teachers, but then I became one of the lead teachers. I helped with homework, reading, planning activities, creating the curriculum and a lot more. I stayed with the center throughout the entire school year. When some of the kids came there they were struggling with certain subjects such as reading and math. When they received their first report card the grades were kind of low, but after a while there grades slowly progressed and they were so excited to show me there grades it made me so happy. It made me feel good to know that I made a difference in their lives. After I finished my needed hours for the internship I still stayed at the center because I felt like the kids there needed me and I made a difference in their lives. I guess the director felt I was such a huge help to the students that they decided to hire me full time. Due to lack of funding the center closed down and the students no longer had a place to go. I still keep in contact with some of the parents and students just to see how they are doing and they all say the same thing, I helped them stay on the right path. Every time I see one of them I know that I made a difference. I am now employed with the South Carolina Department of Health and Human Services where I am a Medicaid Eligibility worker. I determine eligibility for Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. Language is a key part of any family, community, culture and the human race. Without language the world today would be much different. From cavemen, to the Egyptian use of hieroglyphics, to Old English, to more than 6,500 languages spoken around the world today, the advances that humans have made in language is remarkable and inspiring. The ability to speak, read, write and understand more than one language is also remarkable and expands the liberties in life, especially for young people. High school students should be required to take at least two years of a foreign language class in order to graduate, as many recent studies support the benefits of doing so. Students who have learned a foreign language in high school have proven to have a...show more content... Requiring two years of foreign language study for high school graduation would benefit students greatly as they move onto college. Acceptance rate, ability to succeed in and graduation rate would increase greatly if all college students were bilingual. Some students would argue that taking a foreign language class in high school would not benefit them after graduation, as they plan to study a major in which being multilingual is not essential. This may seem reasonable as some majors, such as cosmetology or psychology may not ever use a foreign language nor require further study of a foreign language. However, studies have shown that studying a foreign language builds more skills than just language. Memorization, critical thinking and interpretation skills improve immensely in those students who take a foreign language class in high school ("Benefits and Opportunities" 1). Students can then use these skills to improve academic performance in other areas, improving overall college success. Globalization has recently reached the corporate world, and seemed to be instantaneous. Around 40 percent of large U.S. companies have reached overseas, allowing them to profit from the markets of foreign countries. Due to the rapid increase of companies becoming multinational, major businesses seek to hire employees who are able to speak more than one language, as multilingual candidates are equipped Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. My Five Year Plan After Graduation Essay My Five Year Plan After Graduation Five years after graduation I plan to obtain a master's degree in law enforcement. Right now I'am really not sure what I really want to truly do for the rest of my life. I'm attending the University of Phoenix for a few reasons but I'm ultimately going to the university to become a detective. I want to be successful and rich so I can have all the good things in life. I want...show more content... So I finally decided that I'd have to study my way out of a middle class family. I'm working hard in school because it's vital for my future. I need that education to accomplish all of the goals that I have set out for myself. Although, my truly main goal in life is really to become a detective. You will see why below. Police and detectives maintain law and order, collect evidence and information, and conduct investigations and surveillance. People depend on police officers and detectives to protect their lives and property.Law enforcement officers, some of whom are State or Federal special agents or inspectors, perform these duties in a variety of ways, depending on the size and type of their organization. In most jurisdictions, they are expected to exercise authority when necessary, whether on or off duty. Being a detective might be dangerous and stressful, but I'am willing to take that risk. I know that in addition to the obvious dangers of confrontations with criminals, officers need to be constantly alert and ready to deal appropriately with a number of other threatening situations. Many law enforcement officers witness death and suffering resulting from accidents and criminal behavior. A career in law enforcement may take a toll on officers' private lives. Candidates must be U.S. citizens, usually at least 20 years of age, and must meet rigorous physical Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. There I was, poised with the first draft of my masters thesis, ready to jack it under the rear wheels of my car so that I could vent my anger and frustration. Never had I felt this kind of undiluted rage in dealing with a piece of writing. As far as I was concerned, the first draft was complete and therefore the entire piece was finished; however, my thesis advisor didn't quite agree with me. A less deranged friend of mine talked me out of repeatedly backing over my thesis, and convinced me that it didn't really matter if I did leave tire marks on it because I had multiple drafts on my disk. But still, I knew that it would just feel so good to leave some tire tread on the paper. I had not written a thesis as an undergrad, and I was...show more content... So, when I came to the end of the first draft of my thesis, I was convinced I had produced a solid piece of writing and that I was finally, and thankfully, done with it. At the point at which I was ready to jack the thesis under my rear tires, I knew I had worked hard on this piece, harder than I had ever worked on a piece of writing in my life. It was certainly the longest piece of writing that I had ever produced; yet I had erroneously equated length with good quality. I had done no revising to this piece, nor had I achieved any distance from it in order set it aside to come back to it at a later time. In the past, I had not written drafts of my papers; I had been told since high school that I was a reasonably decent writer. I was a comparative literature major in college, and again, I had earned solid grades on my writing assignments, and I had worked hard, but I had not slaved over draft after draft. I tended to write well under pressure (or so I thought), but I left no time for revisions. Usually, I was finishing up the paper within hours of the class in which it was due. Up until working with Peter, I had thought that this process worked fine for me; in fact I thought that it had worked better than fine. However, Peter Heinegg changed all of that for me. Peter agreed with me that I was done with the thesis, but he thought I was merely done with the FIRST draft of the piece. He told me my work was good but there was Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 8. Essay For Graduate Assistantship I am writing to express my interest in the Graduate Assistantship position with CSET Advising Center at Minnesota State, Mankato. I recognize and value the importance that a graduate assistantship has, in terms of the educational and professional benefits. It is my hope that, as a graduate student to take this role of graduate assistant for both personal as well as professional experience. The job description suggests that the position requires an individual with high levels of maturity and responsibility. I believe I have the required academic qualifications, skills and experience. I am currently pursuing my Masters in urban planning at Minnesota State University, Mankato, with 4.0 GPA of my first semester. I also graduated from MSU with Bachelor's Science degree in Environmental Science with 3.2 GPA. My academic achievements and work experience meet, if not exceed, the requirements of the position. I also helped international students register courses at the beginning of every semester. I was fortunate enough to have worked with mentors that taught me a great deal of mentorship. • 9. A continuous debate that is currently receiving much attention is whether community service should be a mandatory graduation requirement. Preparing students to effectively function in the real world is an important aspect of our education system. Today more than ever, there is an emphasis on having experience before beginning work. Most jobs are now focused on looking past your resume to see what you have given back to the community. Nevertheless, it is important that schools focus on preparing college students for the work force by mandating that they receive all of the necessary exposure and experience. Numerous schools across the country have mandated that in order for their students to graduate, they must complete a predetermined amount of community service. In Maryland, high school students are required to complete a minimum of 75 hours of service in order to graduate. However, this decision has resulted in a lot of mixed responses. Advocates of this decision stress that mandatory community service opens doors for students, while the opponents feel that it takes away valuable time from students who need to focus on their education. I believe that gaining experience outside of school is critical for future success in life. To ensure that students are prepared to transition smoothly from school to work, they need to be involved with the community while in school in order to build the leadership skills that are necessary to succeed. Advocates for mandatory community Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 10. Graduate School Goal My goal of graduating from graduate school can be altered by world population because if the world population increases that means that there will be more people applying to graduate school; most likely. If more people apply to graduate school, it will be harder for me to get in. The increase in the world population would slim my chances of going to graduate school, and could alter my goal. Family type could alter my goal of going to graduate school because if I wanted to start a family now I could. By starting a family, most of my time would be consumed by keeping up with housework, watching the children, cooking and cleaning the house. All of these chores would keep me from spending the appropriate amount of time studying, and focusing Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 11. Essay About My English Class I can remember seeing that I had to take an English class my first semester of college. I was already overwhelmed with starting college, and having to write college essays made me get even more nervous. I sat down with my mom and decided to look at the English classes available, and I finally decided that I had to take an evening class to make it work in my schedule. The first day of English came and now looking back it was not as bad as I thought. It made me a better writer and be where I am today. It may have taken me some time to get where I am today, but at least I am on the right track. English Composition helped me realize that I am my own author and have strengths that I did not realize I had. When I first started college I did not know what to expect with an English class. I liked writing about topics that interested me, but high school did not allow me to do that. I took American History and we would have to write...show more content... I learned many techniques from my professor. He helped me realize that it is okay to have your own opinion as long as you back it up. He showed me that I am an author when I did not think I was. He also told us to read our essays out loud when we proofread, and I always did this technique before submitting all my essays. I can remember having to write my first essay and I was scared, because I felt like I had to get a good grade. I started thinking about what tools I could use to help me, and I decided to go to The Learning Center to help with my essay. When I went there they would make edits to my essay and then explain what I should change. The tutor noticed I used multiple choppy sentences and commas in spots there should not be. Sometimes I would even go twice to make sure I did not miss any minor mistakes. Going there helped me feel more confident as a writer and I learned from my mistakes. I had many helpful techniques from multiple people that shaped me into the writer I am Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 12. Post Graduation Plans After graduation my ideal plan would be to go into an industry career. I want to get into an engineering–related job first to provide myself with some experience in that aspect of the field. I want to be selective in choosing the company that I begin my career with. I want to ensure that the company that I choose has a program related that aids in helping their employees get advanced degrees. During my first year in my career I want to get into a master's degree program either focusing on engineering or cyber security. I know there is a market for black women in both of those aspects of computer science so I want to tailor myself so that I am a candidate that is highly sought after. This summer I participated in my second internship...show more content... The Boeing Company offers one of the benefits that I want the most which is supporting advances degrees. • 13. High School Graduation Essay Graduation Through out life people go through so many hardships. Whether it be good or bad there is always something that comes out of the situation. One of the most exciting but yet scariest events would be graduation. For a lot of people, graduating from high school is a goal. It takes a lot of time and effort to achieve that goal. In the long run, it opens a lot of opportunities for people to succeed. Graduation is the end of high school, and the beginning to life. I can almost remember that day like it was yesterday, I awoke like on any other school day. It was a gorgeous May morning, therays of sun flittered through my miniblinds blinding me as if I hadn't seen light in days. I sluggishly dragged my limp body out of...show more content... Once I was finished, I gathered up my cap and gown and my car keys and headed out the door. All the graduates had to meet in the high school library an hour before the ceremonies started, and I promised one of my best friends Tony that we would go together. I knocked on his back door and let myself in like I always do. All of his family members were running throughout the house trying to get ready. I asked his mom where Tony was and she proceeded to tell me that he was in the bathroom getting ready. I tapped on the door and walked in. He was standing in front of the mirror with his cap and gown on. He look me straight in the eyes and said," Can you believe that we are about to graduate?" I replied," No, it really hasn't set in yet." Tony finished getting ready, and then we left for the high school. The parking lot was filled with all the other seniors' cars. Tony and I walked into the library ten minutes late like usual, and the principal had already started giving instructions. I found my place in line and then was all ears. I couldn't help but look around at all the others. Smiles were plastered on their faces as if they had heard a hilarious joke. Once the principal concluded his speech, the whole senior class paraded down the hallway to the commons in two uniform lines stopping just outside the gymnasium doors. We could hear the band warming up and playing songs. All the people that were standing around me were bubbling Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 14. Reflective Essay Into Graduate School I apologize for not answering this weekend, but I was busy with studying and homework for this week. The main thing that I am hopeful to gain from working in the lab is the experience of what it is truly like to conduct research. I've always wanted to explore psychology, and as of right now, the behavioral neuroscience pathway is the most appealing. So hopefully with the lab experience and working with faculty, when I graduate from here in 2019, I'll be prepared to apply and hopefully be admitted into graduate school. When I envision my future career, it's between working on research at a university or working with individuals in a counseling/clinical environment. This is what I plan on for now, but hopefully with more experience and knowledge Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 15. I Am A Graduate Student Essay As the fall semester is quickly winding down, I often catch myself reflecting on the fact that I will be completing my second semester as a graduate student. It certainly still is a surreal feeling for myself. I cannot even fathom the fact that I will be able to say that I have gotten through two semesters of graduate school. The reason I bring this up is because when I first started the graduate program, I would often wonder whether I belonged in graduate school. There was a sense of self–doubt. Therefore, I had trouble believing that I was worthy of being in this program. And, as ignorant as it may sound, I attributed my acceptance into the program to luck and fate. I believe one major reason for feeling that way is due to the fact that I am the first one in my family to attend college, so I felt incapable of achieving something that had never been done in my family. Furthermore, self–reflection allows for me to reflect back on my collegiate journey and reminisce on my own personal obstacles and challenges that I have dealt with. It also allows for me to be a more effective mentor. I see myself as a mentor who is empathic and understanding of those students who are also first–generation college students who may be experiencing similar issues. Not necessarily only being able to be an effective mentor when working with first generations students, rather learning new perspectives and understanding different cultural norms that can further assist me as I continue to develop Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 16. Essay about High School Graduation Day High School Graduation Day Many people have experienced the over whelming excitement that you feel as you approach high school graduation day, and for me, that's a day that I will never forget. The amount of emotions that you feel on graduation day is unbelievable, and I have yet to experience anything else like it. I can remember feeling anxious to celebrate the big day with my friends and family, while at the same time I was panicking thinking about having to walk across the stage in front of that many people. Then, the more I thought about the reality of graduation day, I started to get curious, but nervous, about being able to start a new chapter in my life once graduation day had passed. There are several reasons why I, still...show more content... As the end of the night approached us, I couldn't stop thinking about how many mixed emotions I had about starting a whole new chapter in my life. I couldn't wait to go to college, meet all new people, get a degree so that I could start my career path, but I knew that meant I had to say goodbye to my two best friends, who were moving several hours away from me. This was one of the hardest things I had ever had to do in my life. We all cried a little, and then made promises to keep in touch, and then we were off into the real world! I was very happy to be at this point in my life, but I was scared deep down inside. When I look back on this day now, I still remember every detail as if it was yesterday. I was so proud, and happy to be able to celebrate such an amazing day with all of my friends and family. I know I will never forget how embarrassed I was walking across the stage in front of all of those people, feeling famous after taking so many pictures, making our final memories together at our graduation parties, and then being a nervous wreck when it was time to go out into the world without my best friends at my side. High school graduation day was a very emotional day for me, but it was by far the most exciting day I have ever experienced in my Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 18. My Graduation Essay Stepping upon a simple stage was the best thing I could have ever done. Overseeing the multitude that was there to witness my every word, every tremble, every emotion, and every heart beat, was then that I realized that the sentiment was real. It was essentially the end of time and I could not bear to hold back what I no intentions of doing. Cry. Tears of joy darted down my face as I walked across the stage and received my ultimate gift. With fancy inscription, my gift was entitled "Class of 2009". I had just graduated. "Ok seniors, everyone settle down and take your seat with your name on it". The principle conducted everyone as we prepared to get ready for our practice graduation walk. Amusement and volume suffocated the gym as...show more content... I could sense the stares glaring upon me as I switched positions every second in my chair. Two hours wasted out of my life before the orator called my name. With a shamble walk, insensible arms, and a tilted head I deliberated myself across the front of the gym and out the door. One of my classmates ran out the door and past me with glee assuring me that she would see me on Monday, the day of our graduation. Saturday and Sunday went by fast. Vowing that God had cut off at least twelve hours off my weekend, Monday morning arrived. I had to be at the coliseum at nine a.m. I woke up at eight thirty on the dot. With no essential worries and not a care in the world what I looked like, I merely jumped out of bed and put my graduation dress, cap, and gown on. In six minutes flat I was ready to go. I made it out my room and past the mirror wall right before I was about to leave. Looking at myself I knew I looked unacceptable, but my mind could not lead me to care. Right before I could make it out the door my mom vented her words of refutation. "Where do you think you are going? You did not bother to brush your hair, wash your face nor take ashower." Thinking quickly, I managed to use time as my excuse and scampered out the door to avoid any more questions. When I arrived at the coliseum, I was quite confused considering I did not listening to anything the principal had stated at practice graduation Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 19. Pursuing A Graduate Degree Essay Pursuing a graduate degree, specifically a PhD, is a decision that was made only in the last few years. This new direction was largely based on my recent exposure to higher education in general, but to minority women in higher education specifically. To help explain how this exposure helped to propel my desire to pursue a graduate degree at this point in my life, I feel it's important to provide you with some background information and context of my upbringing. My parents are immigrated from Mexico shortly after getting married. Although my father had been coming to the United States since he was a teen to work, he did this seasonally and would return to Mexico when the agricultural season ended. After my parents married they settled in a small agricultural town in a coastal town of California. It is in this small town that my parents raised their 6 children. Holding on to their traditional values we were raised in a traditional manner; from a young age the girls were expected to help out in the house and contribute by doing housework while the boys were expected to help my father which included helping out in the fields. It was in this way that my parents tried to instill many of the same values which they had acquired in their youth growing up in Mexico. Although they wanted us to do well in school it wasn't something that was strongly emphasized. Perhaps it was due to their limited exposure to education and the lack of educational opportunities my parent's had growing up. Get more content on HelpWriting.net
