and restoration of culturally significant sites throughout
Westchester County, New York, with a primary focus on the
estates of some of America’s most prominent families.
Originally founded by John D. Rockefeller, Jr. as Sleepy
Hollow Restorations, Historic Hudson Valley manages public
visits to their incomparable Kykuit estate in Pocantico Hills,
along with several properties later acquired. These include
Sunnyside, Sleepy Hollow’s Philipsburg Manor, and Van
Cortlandt Manor in Croton-on Hudson.
3. •At present, Historic Hudson Valley offers a wide range of
educational programs designed to entertain as well as inform.
Whether during a kindergarten field trip or a high school
history class, Historic Hudson Valley provides hands-on
activities for students of all ages, shedding light on the
bygone traditions of colonial and 19th-century America in the
process. Each program hosted by Historic Hudson Valley
features lively presentations from tour guides who reenact
specific roles, from the international traders at Philipsburg
Manor to the skilled craftsmen of Van Cortlandt Manor.
