This document provides details about Will Wang's industrial design project titled "Laundro", which aims to create a more efficient and user-friendly laundry solution for singles. The project involved research through surveys and interviews to understand pain points with current laundry machines. Two concepts were developed - Laundro Pro, a wall-embedded combo washer/dryer, and Laundro Lite, a portable folding machine. Both concepts integrate with a smartphone app and feature an easy-to-use interface. Renderings and specifications of the proposed solutions are also included.

3. BACKGROUND
Modern society enriches people’s life. Singles
tend to spend more time on activities rather than
daily routines, for example, laundry. However,
laundry is not an easy routine and most of
people have unpleasant experiences about it.
Assigned target group: young singles
Limited space for machines Forgetting time to dry clothes
Frustrated about settings Drop clothes during transferring
Unsatisfied laundry
experience...
4. RESEARCH
The majority of survey participants are young
people from 18-23 year old. They have relatively
more problems in doing lundary than older
people.
Washer/Dryer Size Wash/Dry Time Water Efficiency Energy Efficiency Amount of Settings
Survey & Analysis
• Machine size and its working time are the most important factors people consider when buying a
new machine.
• Water/Energy efficiency didn’t seem very important to people.
• Amount of settings is the least important factor since majority of people care less about settings
and lack of laundry knowledge.
How do users feel about current laundry machines?
(Research conducted by group.)
5. RESEARCH
• Transferring clothes might
causes them dropping.
• Bending down for front loading
machines is inconvenient.

7. OPPORTUNITY
Problem statement
Based on the research, target users will
spend less and less time on laundry while
they still hope to maintain the quality and
quantity of this routine. To approach that,
a highly efficient and user-friendly laundry
method is needed for the target users.

Most kids spend nearly 40% of their
active hours doing sports or outdoor
activities.
Based on the activity survey,
swimming is the most popular
sports that kids play.
BACKGROUND
18. The current swimming gears
for kids are not well-developed,
especially the swimming
goggles. In the general research,
83% of kids complained the
inconvenient use of certain
swimming goggles, and 17% of
kids have experienced the safety
issues caused by the goggles.
These problems need to be
concerned indeed.

• The rubber straps hurt my
ears.
• I can’t put goggles by myself.

24. SOLUTION
Nose piece
(Blow molding)
A sponge bar inside the nose piece can
maximumly avoid the bruise of nose skin. And it is
also a pulling handle for loosening the goggles.
Unibody lens
(injection molding)
Unibody lens ensure the
durability of goggles. The
gasket rests within the eye
orbital can reduce red marks
on face.
Adjustable side clips
(injection molding)
Side clips only requires one
hand or three fingers with
small strength to operate it.

Finish
Mounting type
Brass, copper, chrome, nickel, gold-
plated, matte or shiny finish, a smooth
satin sheen and even faucets with
texture are now available to consumers
in all price ranges. It is worth every
consumer paying more for a product
that will outlast, outshine and visually
outperform a basic faucet finish. In
terms of sheer sales volume, chrome is
still the leader.
Center-set: A spout and valves on a
single base unit.
Single Hole: A single handle mixing
lever, two handles or may be touchless
or touch-activated.
Widespread Faucet: A spout with
separate hot and cold water handles.
Wall-mounted Faucet: It is designed
for freestanding basins.
Transitional Traditional
Contemporary
Transitional, traditional and
contemporary are three major faucet
styles in the market. Market is changing
over the time, consumer preferences
follow the pattern that from traditional to
transitional then to contemporary, while
currently, transitional style tends to grow
up its popularity in the market according
to the market research.
Style
30. DEVELOPMENT
This is a contemporary design with
a simple form. However, the current
mechanism can not be fitted into
the slim body and two handles.
This faucet has a single handle
with two water controls. It applies
a curve design but the sharp
edge may be dangerous for
children to use.
With the transitional design, this
concept has a stream line form
with soft edges. The water outlet
is in 30 degree angle, bringing
the convenience for using.
Final Concept
Comparison Improvement
The shape of the handle has
been redesigned to match the
shape of the main faucet. New
handle has a 15 degree upward
angle.
