This document provides information about Katarina Segerberg including her contact information. It then describes several of her design projects including REPP (rubber profiles made from tires), RESTORE (an app to help with panic attacks), IMAFO (a ceiling lamp), SUPPORT (a car headrest), and C-PAD (a temperature regulating vest). For each project, it provides background on the problem being addressed, research conducted, concept development, feedback from experts, prototypes created, and the final results.

4. THE PROBLEM
Linear economy; currently, we use more resources
than what is sustainable for our planet.
THE AREA
Improves the circular economy for used tires.
LOCATE DESIGN OPPORTUNITY
Reuse the material from the tires more. By reusing the
material again, we extend the life of the material.
5. Today’s application forms go from
tires to different sizes of tire shreds
Today’s recycling
processes lose a lot of
material forms that can
be created in between
RESEARCH / IDEA DEVELOPMENT
How does today’s system work? and explore what can be improved
in the field.

REPP is a rubber profile that is part of a system with its main
task being to protect pedestrians, cyclists and road users from
damage that may occur, in the event of a collision.
The profiles are placed around traffic poles and are very suitable
in urban environments where a lot of people are passing by daily.
Other urban zones and spaces can also benefit from this
protection, such as stair railings, playgrounds or arm barriers.

15. THE AREA
Läreda Mekan is a company that manufacture
products mainly for the car industry.
BRIEF
Create the car seat of the future.
LOCATE DESIGN OPPORTUNITY
Make it easier to rest / sleep sitting in a car.
16. RESEARCH / CONCEPT DEVELOPMENT
What is available in today’s market and what is missing? And how
can the concept be designed to achieve the best user experience?
17. EVALUATE / DETAIL DEVELOPMENT
Analyze the different concepts and evaluate which one has the
greatest potential. Thereafter, the details of the concept were
further processed.

19. Concept SUPPORT is a headrest, shaped and designed specifically
to help individuals make it easier to rest / sleep sitting up in the
car. Its operation is based on that you can press a button along
the short sides and pull out the supporting headrest individually
on each side of your head.
Helps with incorrect use of today’s
headrest by encourage the user
to adjust headrest to the right
height.
21. RESTORE
A modern way to reduce panic and stress
- A app that help users through panic attacks.
In collaboration with
22. RESEARCH / LOCATE DESIGN OPPORTUNITY
Crisis situations is a type of extreme environment that needs more
attention today. At Nasa, the area today is avoided instead of solve.

Where is it an opportunity to
change?
WHY
Why does an extreme

WHEN
When does an extreme
environment occur?
WHERE
A way to structure up during an
extreme environment situation.
WHY
Because people don’t know
what to do.
WHEN
During unexpected crisis
situations (Such as terrorist
attacks, fire, pandemic etc.)
What crisis situations do the
astronauts have information
about how to act for?
SUMMARY
They have a good working
system on Nasa for the
astronaut to handle a lot of
crisis situations.
OPPERTUNITY!
Nasa have methods to avoide
the mental problems that can
accure, not solotions.
Important conclusion!
We received no training on how to act
if something gets in the way of mental
problems such as chock, panic, etc.

23. DETAILED RESEARCH / IDEA DEVELOPMENT
What is a panic attack/ panic disorder? What exists on today’s
market? Who is the target group and what functions is desired for
a help produkt?
A panic attack is a sudden episode of intense
fear that triggers severe physical reactions when
there is no real danger or apparent cause.
- Mayo Foundation
for Medical Education and Research
”
Panic attacks, stress and anxiety are
problems that increase in the society for
every year.
24. EVALUATE / CONCEPT DEVELOPMENT
Evaluate using surveys and use the answers to be able to develop
the idea into a concept.
25. DETAIL DEVELOPMENT
Test & fine tune the concept to make it better.
Evaluation was done using
a focus group.
...It is possible for me to directly understand
where to navigate!

27. Restore is an app that is available for smartphones.
The purpose with the app is to help the user through panic
attacks as well as prevent the risk for attacks. It is also a way to
reduce stress and anxiety for the user, since the app provides
breathing exercises with focus to reduce these problems.
28. Follow your progress or send to
your psychologist.
Panic attack assistens,

29. C-PAD
A part of the conservation temperature system
- Temperatur retaining vest
30. RESEARCH
Study visits to fire station and interviews with professionals to
identify problems within the occupation.
- People calling for unnecessary
things
- Difficult to keep track on each
other
- You quickly becomes warm with
the clothes
- Better warning lamps
The tools get dirty during the
missions
- Health problems that occur after
several years in the occupation
- They have absolutely no track
of time when they are out on
accidents
- Difficult to hear in the radio
Reduce the volume of the fan
- Difficult to stick out and be seen
well in the alarms clothes
- Better GPS shows where you are/
the destination
- People reported the wrong
address
- Heavy keeping a
“traffic scissors” In high
positions
- Difficulty with communication
when there are several teams that
will collaborate together
- Better light during smoke diving

31. IDEA DEVELOPMENT
Sketch and explore different ideas to be able to solve the problem area.
- Cooling down only “

- Blowing in air into the jacket

- Intensive cooling the body
- Isolating west
- Cooling unit that starts
cooling at increase of body
temperature
- Down-cooled at the station
- Ice blocks
- Fan system
- A substance that begins
to cool when it comes in
contact with liquid (sweat)
- Cool pillow in your car
- Ability to open “tabs” in the
jacket

it will not be used!

Which shape is most suitable and how should these pads be
attached to each other?

C-pad is temperature regulating and is perfect to use in
situations where it is vital to maintain a healthy and pleasant
body temperature and where external conditions prevents a
natural body cooling.
The C-pad strength is that it absorbs the extra body energy
produced in extreme physical situations preventing the body
temperature to increase due to the extra energy created.

38. Changing something scary like darkness and shadows to
something positive and fun.
RESEARCH / LOCATE DESIGN OPPORTUNITY
Using light to make children play with their imagination instead of
getting scared.
39. CONCEPT DEVELOPMENT / 3D VISUALIZATION
Sketch different designs of idea to further work on a potential
concept. Build up the final concept in 3D and
render in order to get an understanding of how a final product
could look.
41. Imafo is an overhead light that can provide a diffuse light as well
as spotlighting at the same time. The moveable mirrors makes it
possible to get spotlighting in the room, whether it’s on the wall,
floor or ceiling. Its unique design and features make it also pos-
sible to encourage children’s imagination in a simple and fun way.
The mirror animals are rotatable in order to
create more light at the desired position.
