2. Mumford and Sons
• Mumford and Sons are a four- piece indie/ folk
band from London. The band rose to fame on
the back of their critically acclaimed album
‘sigh no more’. Their mixture of melodic
chants and ‘romping’ acoustic folk tuns have
struck a chord with audiences and the band
have become overnight sensations. The album
‘sigh no more’ recently won the band the
mercury prize.
3. Style
• The band have gone against the current trend of ‘hyper modern’ acts
which have emerged after the success of acts such as Lady Gaga. While
these acts are dressing in skin tight lycra, or meat, Mumford and Sons are
wearing traditional clothing, flat caps and suit trousers. This reflects the
music they create, which uses no synthesizers or electronic instruments,
has a natural feel and is all handcrafted in juxtaposition with other acts
who are pursuing more synthetic musical routes
4. Band Image.
• The band hold a good reputation and are not
known for any off stage ‘antics’, the lead
singer, Marcus Mumford, is currently in a
relationship with fellow folk singer and
talented musician Laura Marling. This,
combined with the fact that the band are new
to the music scene means that their
reputation is as yet untarnished
