Zigbee
1. Introduction to Zigbee
Waqar Ahmad 7th Semester
Department of Electrical Engineering UET Peshawar, Jalozai Campus
2. Introduction
In this present communication world there are numerous high data rate
communication standards that are available but non of these meets the
sensor and the control devices communication standards.
These high data rate communication standard require
Low latency
Low energy consumption even at lower bandwidth
3. What is zigbee technology?
Zigbee communication is specially built for control and sensor networks on
IEEE 802.15.4 for wireless personal Area networks
Operates on 2.4 GHz frequencies.
Data rate is 250 kbps.
Two way transmission of data b/w sensors and controllers
Range is 10-100 meters
5. Zigbee Architecture
Zigbee Coordinator:
Reponsible for handling and storing information
Receiving and transmitting operation are to be done.
6. Zigbee Architecture
Zigbee Router:
Permits data to pass to other devices
Zigbee End Devices:
End devices have limited functionality to communicate with parents nodes
8. Zigbee Modes
Non Beacon Mode:
The coordinator and routers continuously monitor at this state of incoming
data hence more power is consumed
In this mode router and coordinator do not sleep because any time any node
can wake up and communicate
9. Zigbee Modes
Beacon Mode:
When there is no data communication from end devices the router and
coordinator enters to sleep state.
This mode works for time slot
They operate when communication is needed.
11. Advantages
Low Power Consumption ( Because of active and sleep state ).
High density of nodes per network ( consist of many nodes so the entire
network should not damage due to some nodes ).
Low cost ( hence can be implemented in many application).
Low data rate (upto 250 kbps ).
Simple implementation ( it can be implemented anywhere).
13. Conclusion
In future, all devices and there controls will be based on standards
Since it is not only applicable to household devices but aslso to office
automation,
