“I was thrilled when I was told we were going to Happy Conference again!” This was the
first sentence I heard from one of the participants as I walked inside Escola do Cerco,
in Oporto. These words touched me and made me realize how important Singing the
Future Choir has become in the lives of those involved in the project. While participants
prepare the lyrics of the music about to be rehearsed, Maestro Nuno Feist plays the
first notes, gently moving his fingers through the piano keys. The young voices rise
from silence, eager to learn more.
They might be little children, but they become an outstanding force when we bring them
together. At Escola de S. João do Estoril, the rehearsals are only complete when we
hear the children’s innocent laughter or when that voice, the brightest one, lights up the
room. It is when they are fully devoted and their eyes shine that Maestro Nuno Feist
creates moments bursting with harmony and energy.
While preparing Singing the Future Choir for Happy Conference 2014, rehearsals took
place at Escola de S. João do Estoril and at Escola do Cerco. These voices, conducted
by Maestro Nuno Feist, experienced a very special moment at Happy Conference 2014.
A part of this project where, through music, we strive to create enriching, life-changing
experiences for each child and youngster involved.
