Celebrating 20 Years Helping Countries Attract Infrastructure Investment
Established in 1999, PPIAF (Public Private Infrastructure Advisory Facility) is a multi-
donor technical assistance facility financed by 11 multilateral and bilateral donors and
housed inside the World Bank Group. SECO has been a partner since the beginning
and is proud to celebrate this 20 years partnership with PPIAF.
PPIAF is the only global facility dedicated to strengthening the policy, regulatory and
institutional underpinnings of private sector investment in infrastructure in emerging
markets and developing countries.
In the context of the current global debate on infrastructure finance and mobilization of
private sector funds, PPIAF holds an important and unique role in setting further the
stage to enabling private sector participation in infrastructure. SECO has been sup-
porting private sector mobilization into infrastructure since many years in order to con-
tribute to sustainable economic development, reducing poverty and tackling climate
change. PPIAF perfectly complements other SECO funded facilities for example, the
Private Infrastructure Development Group (PIDG), the IFC Sustainable Cities Program
and the IFC Eastern Europe and Central Asia PPP program.
