NATIONAL LIBRARY COLLECTIONS
COMPACTUS
Dexion completed the installation of its new Mobile Storage
System in a portion of the new 4th Floor Stack area.
“These compactus units provide approximately 4,000 linear
metres in the plant room. We definitely couldn’t get this amount of
static shelving into that same area,” said Adrian La Palombara,
Assistant Manager Stack Services.
The new units will be used to house some of the Library’s Asian
Collections which include material in Chinese, Japanese, Thai
and Korean scripts.

UNIVERSITY OF QUEENSLAND, GATTON CAMPUS
COMPACTUS
The university selected a Dexion Eclipse Powered Compactus
system that would be the largest ever installed in Australia. It
comprises 3,456 shelving bays, providing 33,000 lineal metres of
storage.
Its unique anti-tilt mechanism designed for seismic conditions is
housed in the floor track eliminating wasted space and
significantly reduces the gap on the track, so that trolleys and
order pickers can be moved within the Compactus with ease.
The solution is also user-friendly – all that’s used
is a green and red start and stop button, with a high level of
flexibility. Dexion’s technical support team can reprogram
movement speed of the Compactus, altering the distance between
closed carriages, as well as switching carriage movement as
storage needs change.
The units also feature Dexion’s Building Interface Module, which
is connected to the building’s fire system - it can be programmed
to either open or close if a fire alarm is triggered, protecting
against water or smoke damage to the books.

GOLD COAST UNI HOSPITAL
MEKDRIVE
Dexion designed, manufactured and installed the Compactus®
mobile storage units for the first stage of the hospital.
These customized all-Stainless Steel Compactus® units were
designed specifically for the storage of highly corrosive liquids.
The Compactus® units also feature the integration of a ‘floating’
timber infill floor angle cut to fit within the contours of Dexion’s
unique Freetrack2 compactus tracks.
By working in close collaboration with their clients,
Dexion ensures the most appropriate product, which will
meet each project’s specific needs, is provided within
