The State Bank of India holds exams every year to select new probationary officers. The selection process involves a preliminary exam, main exam, group discussions, and a personal interview. Candidates are evaluated based on their performance across all stages of the process. The notification for the 2018 exam will be released in March 2018, following the same three-stage selection format.

Becoming a Probationary Officer at SBI

2. Every year SBI holds the SBI PO exams. The preliminary of pre
exams are the first step, followed by the main exam, and
rounds of group discussions and personal interview. This
process is in place to help the nationalized bank select their
new Probationary Officers from amongst hopefuls.

3. SBI PO Pre Exam
Both the pre and main exams for SBI PO have been held
for this year and the results are out. The SBI PO Pre
results were announced on 17th May and those for the
mains on 19th June. What is awaited now is the
declaration of the final results, which are to be released
on the 5th of August. Those who missed out on the exam
this year can try again next year.
4. SBI PO 2018
The State Bank of India will be releasing the
notification for the SBI PO 2018 sometime in March,
2018. The 2018 exam, like the previous PO exams, will
be a national level exam, conducted in 3 stages. After
the declaration of the SBI PO Pre results, qualifying
candidates will sit for the mains.
5. Selection Procedure
The final merit list will be made on the basis of the performance of the candidates in
three stages.
Selection Procedure for SBI PO 2018
Stage 1: Preliminary Exam (Objective type questions, total 100 marks)
Stage 2: Main Exam (Objective type questions, total 200 marks; descriptive questions,
total 50 marks)
Stage 3: Group discussion & personal Interview (20 and 50 marks respectively)

7. Eligibility
The basic requirement for appearing for the SBI PO exam is that the
candidate must have a bachelor degree from a recognized university in
any discipline. Their age also must be between 21 and 30 years on the
1st of April of that year. However, there are certain age relaxations for
several categories:
SC/ST – 5 Years
OBC (Non creamy layer) – 3 Years
SC/ST (PWD) – 15 Years
OBC (PWD) – 13 Years
