Energy healing
1. Energy Healing
Energy healing is a relatively new branch of holistic alternative medicine, based on an old pseudo-
scientific belief that certain healers can "channel" healing energy into a patient and elicit positive
results. Energy healing has been used for centuries as a form of spiritual and physical therapy - even
in the days of ancient Egypt - but it wasn't until recently that scientific research had begun to
validate these beliefs. Nowadays, there are many reputable professionals in the alternative health
field who believe that energy healing is an accurate method for achieving health and well-being.
These individuals use a broad spectrum of modalities, including acupressure, energy psychology, and
crystal healing, to encourage harmony in the physical body and mind. This modality is very similar to
traditional Chinese medicine, and some practitioners emphasize meditation and visualizations as
tools for achieving balance and harmony. However, while the methods of traditional Chinese
medicine and Acupuncture have been studied exhaustively by scientists, modern medical practices
have not yet replicated these techniques.
While energy healing has not yet been subjected to rigorous scientific study, there have been a
number of studies which indicate its effectiveness as a viable treatment option. For example, several
studies have indicated that a combination of massage techniques and therapeutic touch can help
patients recover from mild to severe pain. Similarly, a clinical test conducted on cancer patients
showed that patients who underwent guided energy healing had a higher rate of successful
treatment success than those who underwent standard medical care. The study was led by Dr.
Maureen T. Murphy of the Department of Radiology and Neurosurgery at the University of California
- Los Angeles.
While there are numerous valid uses for energy healing, it should not be confused with "psychic
healing" or "psychic protection." These practices are completely different and do not have anything
to do with the theories of energy healing. This practice is simply another branch of medicine with no
scientific evidence to support it beyond anecdotal evidence. In addition, the practice of tapping the
electromagnetic field around the body has been widely criticized for causing the development of
various types of cancer. This is because while the EMF may increase the number of cancer cells, it
also disrupts the DNA of normal cells. This disruption causes the cells to mutate into cancerous cells.
