Tips and Tricks Thanks to

Know Your Hair Type

You already know if your hair is curly, wavy, or straight but what
about other important characteristics?

To figure out what type of hair you have follow this one easy step:

Run your fingers through your hair

                                                            A crunch, it's dry
Slickness or like there's product even though
If you feel ... there isn't, it's oily
Your fingers getting stuck, it's thick
Your fingers gliding through, it's thin
Choose the Right Brush

Don't grab just any brush at the store!

Find the one that's right for your hair.

You might even need a comb instead of a brush.

       Do you have:

thick hair? thin hair? coarse hair? fine hair?

               curly? wavy? straight?
Brush Gently
                         Don't declare war on knots!

Yanking on your hair WILL cause breakage

Split ends don't come from dry hair, they
                         cause it!

When you brush start from the bottom and work your way up
Add a Comb
Most women just use a brush
because it seems to be the
standard

Using a comb will force you to
brush slower

That means less breakage

Breakage causes dryness, so
without breakage you will
automatically have healthier hair
Picking the Right Shampoo & Conditioner
                      The type of shampoo and
                      conditioner you use really
depends on the type of hair you
                      have

For example: Dry hair needs a
                      moisturizing shampoo and a
                      thick creamy conditioner to
                      replenish

                      You wouldn't use volumizing
                      shampoo on thick frizzy hair,
                      you'd need something to relax
                      it and make it sleek

                      Finding the right shampoo and
                      conditioner can work wonders
                      on your hair
Oily Hair
Look for products Don't skip
with tea tree oil washing your
which has a slight hair until the oil
drying agent is controlled

Make an effort Always look for
not to strip all products that
the oil out. Your are made
hair needs it! specifically for
                     oily hair!
Dry Hair
Find a moisturizing
shampoo and
conditioner

Use a leave-in
conditioner or oil
treatment
(We'll get into this
later)

Skip washing your
hair for a couple of
Drink more water Take it easy on
days, let the natural
                                           styling tools
oils do their job
Coarse Hair
Fight your hair as little as
              possible. Using styling
              tools regularly will only
              damage it

              Use a smoothing shampoo
              and conditioner when you
              wash

              Try opting to an oil
              treatment that will at least
              control the frizz

              Embrace your natural hair
Thin Hair
                              Using a volumizing
                              shampoo and
                              conditioner will help
                              give your hair body

Shoulder length hair is the best cut for thin hair

Blow dry your hair upside down
Color Treated Hair
                     Use a shampoo
Ideally you and conditioner
should try to find designed for
a shampoo with color treated
a ph between 4.5 hair, or you risk
and 5.5 stripping the
                     color really
                     quickly
Make an effort to
use styling tools
as little as Skip washing
possible, dying your hair
your hair everyday to let
damages it a some of your
great deal natural oils work
already
Dandruff?
Dandruff can plague any hair type
Find a shampoo
specifically
A barberry and rosemary oil will help to soothe
designed to
                     your scalp
alleviate dandruff

Find a second
shampoo for your
hair type to
alternate with
because anti-
dandruff
shampoos often
cause dryness
Leave-in conditioner
              is like body lotion for
              your hair

              It hydrates so your
              hair will not break
              from dryness

              A word of caution: if
              you have oily hair,
              whether it's thick,
 Leave-in curly, or frizzy, a
              leave-in conditioner is
              not a good option for
              your hair
Conditioner
Oil Treatments
 Avocado
 Teatree
 Moroccan
 Argan
 Macadamia
 Keratin
Coconut If your hair is color treated, naturally dry, or
damaged from styling products use an oil
Acai Berry treatment to restore moisture
Shea Butter Choose an oil treatment that is designed for your
               hair type
Many women with

Styling Tools straight hair want curls,
                and many with curls
                want it straight

                Make an effort not to
                use styling tools that
                heat regularly, you're
                wreaking havoc on your
                hair

                The heat causes drying
                and split ends

                If split ends aren't
                removed soon enough
you could end up with 6
                inches worth of
                damaged hair
Get Regular Haircuts

Stop by your favorite salon and ask how much they charge for just a trim. It
takes only a few minutes so don't let them charge you for a full cut.

You should be getting a trim to maintain healthy hair once every 6 weeks.

Regular haircuts keep damage at bay and promote hair growth
Supplements
Taking all the steps
mentioned is the best way
to take care of your hair,
but if you feel you need a
little more help try a
supplement

Look for biotin - a vitamin
that is known to aid healthy
hair growth

Also look for:
Vitamin A
B complex
Vitamins C & E
Zinc, Copper, and Silica
Diet
                                                  You really are what
                                                  you eat

                                                  Opt for a balanced
                                                  diet with plenty of
                                                  healthy oils from nuts
                                                  and fish

                                                  Need a snack? Munch
                                                  on a carrot or an
                                                  apple instead of chips

Leafy greens, like kale (a.k.a. The Super Food), are packed with
vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants that will help keep your hair
follicles healthy
Take it easy on carbs, try cutting out the refined type and saturated
fats, your hairs not that only part of your body that will thank you
Exercise accelerates the
           blood flow in your body,
           which helps oxygen to
           travel to your scalp

           30 minutes a day should
           be your goal

           Sound like a lot?

Wake up - 10 min yoga
           Lunch break - 10 min
           walk
           After dinner - walk the
dog for 10 min at a brisk
           pace

Exercise Voila! 30 min

                              avoid heat
