OBJECTIVE: Seeking a Medical Assisting position that encourages a teamwork
approach and allows for personal and professional growth.
WORK EXPERIENCE:
Registered Medical Assistant, Clerical and Clinical
Employer: Lakeland Community Hospital, Watervliet Dates: 11/10/2009-Current
South Haven Community Health Systems Dates: 05/24/2006-10/03/2009
Relevant Skills and Accomplishments:
Administrative: I have been trained as a Super-User/Referral Specialist in EPIC EMR
program since September 2011. In my daily work I register patients using the EPIC
system, verify insurance coverage, and collect co-pays using the HealthPay 24 System,
schedule appointments, and cash out at the end of the day.
The main focus of my job is scheduling appointments, obtaining prior authorizations for
treatment from insurance companies, and making sure our patient’s receive the best care
possible. Most of my work is done on the EPIC EMR system, but I also do paper
referrals for offices that are not on the EPIC system.
Clinical: As a Registered Medical Assistant working in the clinical aspect of my job, I
room patients, take vitals, chart results using the EPIC EMR system, record
medications, call medication orders to the pharmacy when needed, assist with
procedures, administer injections including immunizations, and stock rooms.
Lab Responsibilities: I am trained in point-of-care testing, phlebotomy, inventory, and
daily and weekly QC testing.
During my career I have worked in many different settings, including Family Medicine,
Occupational Medicine, and Urgent Care Medicine.
I have worked with many different types of providers, including Nurse Practitioners,
Physician Assistants, M.D.’s and D.O.’s.
In 2013 Lakeland Health Watervliet started the Clinic Service Center, of which I am the
Preceptor and have been since its inception. We schedule appointments for our area
clinics as well as take medication requests and as an RMA, I along with the LPN, triage
medical calls to the clinics. This has helped take some of the burden of the constantly
2. ringing phone off of the clinics and free them up for patient care. During my time at the
Clinic Service Center my position as Preceptor has been very rewarding.
I am currently relocating to Kalamazoo and seeking employment in the area.
