1. The SAEE acknowledges and appreciates its
partnerships with the Department of Energy, The South
African National Energy Institute (SANEDI), the GIZ
and Media Partners for the SAEE Convention. Most
importantly, it acknowledges the support of its members
as well as its Board of Directors who collectively bring
together over 100 years of experience and expertise in
the Energy Management sector.
The SAEE also recognizes the value of its divisions which
contribute to the overall objectives of the SAEE. These
include: the South African Females in Energy (SAFEE);
Thermal Insulation Products and Systems Association
SA (TIPSASA); Measurement and Verification Council
of South Africa (MVCSA) and the Energy Services
Companies division (ESCOS).
The SAEE is also proud to be the Southern African
Chapter of the Association of Energy Engineers (AEE)
and is honored to have been awarded best overall
chapter out of 82 chapters in 2016.
The SAEE supports the AEE’s mission to promote the
scientific and educational interests of those engaged in
the energy industry and to foster action for sustainable
development. The SAEE is committed to increase energy
efficiency awareness in its region by encompassing
the dynamic fields of energy engineering and energy
management, renewable and alternative energy, power
generation, energy services, sustainability and all
related services.

2. The SAEE is a membership based, not- for-
profit Association and a leading chapter out
of 82 international chapters of the Association
of Energy Engineers (AEE).
It was established in 2002 in order to advance
professionalism, capacity development and
collaboration for the implementation of energy
efficiency. It offers a platform for networking,
knowledge sharing and capacity development
between the private sector, government,
experienced and young energy professionals
and academia, in pursuit of effective and
efficient energy management and action.
The SAEE together with its divisions, supports
the global and local effort to ramp up the
energy efficiency transition towards a low
carbon and green economy and sustainable
energy for all by:
• Supporting and participating in
initiatives to support the country
strategies on energy efficiency and
carbon emission reduction
• Providing platforms for information and
knowledge sharing between stakeholders
through; dissemination of information,
workshops and roadshows, recognition
of best practice at its annual showcasing
Convention on Energy
• Promoting the active and meaningful
participation and advancement of
women and youth in energy management
through its division of South African
Females in Energy Efficiency (SAFEE) and
a future student division
• Participating and drawing on its
members to provide input into energy
efficiency initiatives such as measurement
and verification, the enhancement of
industry sector energy performance,
and supporting the implementation of
government regulations and standards
• Promotion of the development of
Energy Service Companies via ESCOS
Association, Thermal Insulation
Products and Systems (via the TIPSASA)
and Measurement and Verification
practitioners and bodies (via MVCSA)
Membership of the SAEE is open to professionals,
companies, industry associations, partnership
organisations, academia and government
professionals and institutions. Membership
benefits include:

• Networking opportunities with various Energy
stakeholders for implementation of effective
energy management including energy
efficiency, renewable energy and alternative

innovation and initiatives that will promote
capacity, disseminate and promote the
development of low carbon technologies,
promote energy security and universal access
to energy through a green economy. The
SAEE is well placed through its network and
membership to advance energy efficiency in
the Southern African context.
