2. What is a Welding Electrode?
Welding electrodes are the "rods" or "stick" used to perform the welding process known as
SMAW. These electrodes are all numbered according to a common standard.
Electrodes are the flux coated wires that we burn at the low voltage / high amperage to
connect two or more pieces of metal with electricity and create a fusion at the molecular
level with the byproducts of light that are so bright it looks as if it were the second coming
of Christ and the smoke that chokes the most, but we welders love that smell.
