2. Who are UKSEDS?
• A group of (mostly) students who are interested
in Space.
• SEDS is the world's largest space enthusiast
organisation for both school and university
students – we are the UK arm.
• SEDS was founded in the US in 1980. UKSEDS was
formed in 1988 and is one of the fastest growing
national SEDS groups.
• Currently more than 60 branches worldwide,
with ~ 10 branches in the UK
3. Raison d’être
• We want to promotes the exploration and
development of space by:
– Educating people about the benefits of space
– Supporting a network of interested students
– Providing an opportunity for members to develop
their leadership skills
– Inspiring people through our involvement in space-
related projects
• SEDS believes in a space-faring civilization
and that focussing the enthusiasm of young
people is the key to our future in space.
4. What do we actually do?
