Outreach Officer:
Angaraj Duara
• I am an Astrophysics student at the University of Leicester. I joined UKSEDS last year. Last
summer I visited 10 colleges in India on behalf of UKSEDS and successfully opened 8 new
branches of SEDS and included 800 new members. I have worked with both UKSEDS and India
SEDS.
• As a head of Outreach my main goal would be-
• To create better links between India SEDS and UKSEDS, so that members of both these two
chapters can work together.
• SEDS has been so far mostly for University students. I would like to include A level students as
well, so that better roots can be created by involving school students in these activities.
• I would also create more Public Outreach programs to involve more general public in Space
activities and create more awareness about Space activities.
• I believe Astronomical observation nights is the best way to generate interest among general
public. Hence I would like to organize regular Telescope observation nights for school students
and general public.

• I am the UKSEDS Outreach Officer of 2013-2014. I study MEng Space Systems Engineering at
the University of Southampton. I joined UKSEDS two years ago to pursue and share my passion
for space exploration among the people. Being an Outreach Officer, my aim has been to reach
out to people through science fairs and school outreach events and inspire students to choose
space studies as their career. Through outreach, I am able to give UKSEDS members an
amazing opportunity of volunteering and sharing their interests with us. To achieve this aim, I
have organised outreach at:
• The Big Bang Fair West Midlands, The Big Bang Fair South West, The Cheltenham Science
Festival, The North-West Astronomy Festival, The UK Space Environments Conference, The
Mission X Blast Off Event, Salford
• I assisted our first Outreach Officer, Maggie Lieu in the Oxfordshire Science Festival and the Big
Bang Fair, London. These two events laid the foundation of our outreach programme. The
aforementioned events established this programme. Due to this progress, UKSEDS has been
awarded the Space for All funding of £2000, thus giving us more opportunities.
• Standing for the Outreach Officer for 2014-2015, I have confirmed the following events:
• The Oxfordshire Science Festival 2014, The Big Bang Fair 2014, the NEC, School Outreach at
TMBS School, Jimmy’s Farm Nature and Science Festival, The Big Bang Fair South West 2014,
The Big Bang Fair South East 2014, The LonCon, in collaboration with i4IS
• And many more planned for this year. Outreach pack for schools is in process.
• UKSEDS has been one of my highest priorities and will always be. Therefore, I want to carry on
with my UKSEDS outreach work this year and spread space love!
