2. BRAN CASTLE
Bran Castle is a historical and architectural
monument located in Bran-Rucar Pass, 30
kilometers from Brasov.
The Castle of Bran, or, as he likes the amateur of
sensations, Dracula's Castle, built here more than
600 years ago, keeps and conveys to the visitor
something of the pride of the knights who have
crossed the threshold in his time.
Bran Castle is built on a cliff, in a strategically key
location. It houses the Bran Museum, a museum
that stretches over the four floors of the castle.
Here are exhibited collections of ceramics,
furniture, weapons and armor, and in the courtyard
of the castle there is a small museum of the village,
with traditional houses in the region of Rucar-Bran.
3. PeleȘ Castle
Peleş Castle was built on the initiative of the first King of
Romania, Carol I, outside the commune of Podul
Neagului, in 1874, when, at the initiative of the sovereign,
the commune was named Sinaia.
The castle, finished in 1914, has
170 rooms and more than 30
bathrooms. In addition,
additional buildings such as
Pelişor Castle (as a residence
for Ferdinand and Maria), or
Foisoare (originally the hunting
lodge of King Carol) were built
around the castle.
4. The Corvin Castle
The monument is located in Romania, in the south-
western part of Transylvania, in the center of
Hunedoara County, in the south-western part of the
city, on the last eastern branches of the Poiana Rusca
Mountains.
The Corvin Castle, also called the Hunyadi
Castle or Hunedoara Castle, is the medieval
fortress of Hunedoara, one of the most
important monuments of Gothic architecture in
Romania.
It is considered one of the most beautiful
castles in the world, being located in the "Top
10 European Fairy Tales".
Hunedoara Castle is the largest medieval
construction with dual functionality (civilian and
military) in Romania still standing.
5. The Cantacuzino Castle
The Cantacuzino Castle in Buşteni, of great architectural,
historical, documentary and artistic value, was built in
1911 at the request of Prince Gheorghe Grigore
Cantacuzino (Nababul), former minister of Romania.
The castle, built in the Neo-Romanian style, is
surrounded by a park whose alleys take you to the
waterfalls, fountains and grotto. The edifice was built in
stone and brick by architect Grigore Cerchez's plans
and stretches over an area of 3148 square meters.
The castle has a collection of heraldry representing the
blazons of the boyar families engraved with the
Cantacuzines and a frieze of votive paintings with the
illustrious members of the Cantacuzino family of the
Wallachian branch.
6. RÂȘNOV
Fortress
Rasnov Fortress is the fortified ensemble located
on the limestone hill, located in the southern part
of Rasnov, Brasov County, one of the best
preserved fortified ensembles in Transylvania.
At present, tourists can visit the
fortress and the feudal art museum,
where weapons, tools, galleries, vintage
furniture, stamps, armor, harbors
specific to the century, and various
photocopies of the documents of that
time are displayed. The museum also
exhibits some unusual objects of our
century, namely, a torture mask and a
yoke that used to transport prisoners.
7. THE DANUBE
DELTA
From a geographic point of view, the Danube
Delta is Europe's wettest area, the lowest and
the newest plains region.
The Delta has been formed over 10
000 years and continues to grow even
today, being considered the youngest
Romanian land. It is the best
preserved delta in Europe, and since
1990 it is part of the UNESCO
World Heritage Site and is considered
a biosphere reserve. It is a labyrinth
of lakes and canals that roam through
the largest compact reed area in the
world and is one of the areas with the
highest biodiversity on the planet.
