This collection was shown in the Emerging Designers
category. For this collection I repurposed garments and
homegoods, from Goodwill retail and outlet stores, to create
thirteen pieces. There are ten looks total, and each look has
been appliqued with squares. Squares were a huge motif in
this collection and the squares are either 3x3s, 4x4s or 5x5s.
Thus, with the upcycling of used materials and the square
sizes, you get Up 354.

The assignment was to make a fashion spread inspired by bohemian fashion.
In Asheville there was a lot of publicity on the Bohemian Fashion Show at the
Masonic Temple, so my internship advisor asked me to source ready to wear
bohemian fashion in Asheville.

For my internship, I was asked to style fashion segments for a local news channel. I styled three different segments.
The first segment was for summer fashion, the second for men’s fashion and the third for Asheville Fashion Week.

The case pictured above, was for the AIM Deptartment during the summer
months. I was not given any guidelines as to what to put in the case, so I chal-
lenged myself to use as many different patterned fabrics as I could.
14. THIS WAS A DISPLAY CASE I DID
TO ADVERTISE A SECOND HAND
FABRIC STORE.
THE GARMENTS ARE MADE OF FABRIC THAT
HAS BEEN PINNED TO THE DRESS FORM.
THIS WAS A COLLABORATIVE DISPLAY
TO ADVERTISE THE AIM DEPT. AT
MARS HILL. I MADE THE DRESS USING
PINS AND FABRIC..
16. This display window is for a visual campaign that I did about recycling. I wanted to
convey the abstract concept that people consume goods, but those goods also consume
the people. The garment on the left is a design that I made out of magazines. The gar-
ment on the right is made out of bubble wrap and tape; the plastic garment was made
by another student. I wanted a really dramatic effect that would stop passerbys because
consumerism is a problem when it’s not sustainable.
