Life has offered many exciting
experiences so it’s hard to describe
who you are and what you have
done as a photojournalist in a few
lines.
This is a short version of my
career.

M
y name is Björn Olsson I´m
49 years old and I´m a pro-
fessional photographer.
I live in Gothenburg, a harbour city
with more than half a million
inhabitants, known for Volvo, SKF,
Astra and Ericsson.
My passion for photography started
as a kid when I got my first
Instamatic. I got my first full time job
as a photographer in 1990, at the age
of 23.
My first pressphoto was in a political
meeting in Oslo. I sneaked in when
the recently freed Nelson Mandela
spoke and this is one of the greatest
moments in my life. I made my
decision - I wanted to become a
photojournalist.
In 2005 I started my own business as
a freelance photographer,
videographer and picture editor. My
customers are newspapers, television,
photo agencies, news agencies and
online producers.
I have also arranged courses in
webTV in partnership with FOJO and
SJF.

Ihave covered news from around
the world as a photojournalist. A
few examples:
terrorist attacks in New York and
Washington on September 11, 2001
hostage drama in Moscow in 2002
EU summits in Gothenburg and
Copenhagen
bombings in Istanbul in 2003
referendum in Greece in 2015
acts of terrorism in Sousse in
Tunisia in 2015
My picture editorship helped to
develop the creative process and I
therefore have a passion for both
image, text, color and design.
Today you should be able to handle
photo, video, text and audio to
publish content in both printed form
and online.
The change in how we report and in
what form we publish content has
changed in line with technological
development.
Change is a part of everyday life.
To take advantage of this fact you
must be involved and receptive to
new technologies.
I would like to share my experiences
as a photographer, video producer and
picture editor.

CAREER MILESTONES
1990I started to work as a
portrait and freelance
photographer at a small local news-
paper.
1997I started to work for
Göteborgs-Posten,
Sweden’s second largest morning
newspapers. Later on I was employed
at the picture agency Kamerareport-
age as a news photographer in Go-
thenburg.
