Q.A. Micro, Formulation, Dispensing & Customer complaints investigations
I worked as laboratory / Q.A. technician, customer, client lesion, walk through auditing, any
and all microbial testing results, what they meant, how they were carried out, the main
clients included Tesco, Asda & Sainsbury
working in a clean room environment, my duties included going out on site to Liaise & advise customers on
how to store chilled dairy & food based products, within both labs, chemistry which included the
formulations lab & dispensing of agars & diluents, microbial testing of raw milk through to the finished
packaged product. My duties within the chemistry lab included using a variety of machines to test the
product and test the packaging along with practical chemistry tests such as, acidity titration and gerbers. I
carried out in house proficiency testing. Testing of water samples for pH conductivity, the presence of
hypochlorite, micro-organisms and C.O.D. I was solely responsible for the testing of the product within the
microbiology lab. I would use various petrifilms and agars to promote growth and also interpreted the
results and recorded them accordingly. I was in charge of training staff in the micro lab and media
preparation section. Ensuring all personnel were in full understanding of the importance of the procedures. I
worked as part of a team and closely with my manager towards gaining laboratory accreditation, which we
passed first time. Within this role my tasks included amending daily entry spreadsheets, complying with the
correct procedures and all calibrations of all equipment was up to date and recorded correctly.
Mar 2002 - Jun 2003 Celtic Catering Manager @ Severn Trent Labs
I was employed as the Unit Manager of a Celtic Catering kitchen working in conjunction with STL serving and
replenishing all-day meals for staff at the Bridgend Science Park laboratories. Position included staff and time
management, completion of weekly accounts and book keeping, stock control and adhering to all health and safety
regulations. I also had to complete menu creation, food preparation and cash handling. All book-keeping and
invoicing was a major part of my role as was twice daily stock checks.
May 1996 - Feb 2002 Eurest Catering @ Sony
Catering supervisor working for a busy franchised cafeteria at Sony's Bridgend plant providing 24hr refreshment and
in-house vending services. Duties included food preparation and service, general hygiene awareness following local
health and safety regulations including stock rotation and control. Daily cash handling duties included cash register
service, end of service cash and bank including cash reconciliation of all vending machines and tills.
Oct 1993 - May1996 Co-Op Department Store
Located on the first floor of the Co-OP department store in Nolton Street Bridgend my duties as head chef of the
restaurant and coffee shop gave me firsthand experience as a leader and taught me not just catering skills but
people skills as well.
Aug 1991 – Aug 1993 Ansty Hall Hotel
This was my first job as third chef at a mid-sized four-star hotel that started during my years of study in Coventry. I
learned very quickly and experienced much in the kitchen under the guidance of the head chef and restaurant
manager.
