This document discusses ideas for book clubs to help students develop reading habits and skills. It suggests having students investigate and vote on 5 book options to read. Students would do some free reading in class and more reading at their own pace during the week. They would share their opinions and ideas about the books regularly online. The document provides details about a book club for level 1 students using the book "The Prince and the Pauper" by Mark Twain. Students would read and comment on the book through an online forum. It also discusses bringing reading to life through in-class activities after chapters like posters, improv re-enactments and movie trailers based on the book.

TO BRING READING
TO LIFE?
Group brainstorm led by Traci
Recommendation: Do in class activities with your students at the end of each
month, at the end of every few chapters (depending on length, level, and frequency
of class). Ss like use paper based activities as well as digital activities. Have them
do interactive type book reports to strengthen speaking skills. Have them do
individual book reports to strengthen writing skills. Follows is one idea of a book
report form available for free from Pinterest.
