6. When people ask me about what drives me to create and to desire to be an
entrepreneur, the first thing that comes to my mind is my strong sense of
wonder. I desire to fully experience life!
I met someone recently who sees the world in many colors, dimensions and
with intense attention to detail. She can “see” the flow of energy around us,
including within us. She experiences every color and every shape in an intimate
way. I relate to her - I see the world like that too.
Unfortunately, sometimes the energy in the world is dark and heavy. And how
do we respond? What do we do as people? We feed off energy, both positive
and negative. We crave to hope, to feel safe, loved, cared for, and be
appreciated. We must carry on the light to shine bigger and brighter for all
upcoming generations.
So how does one create positivity in this world when none is to be found? The
kind that is grounded and realistic. It is not to say that everything is wonderful,
because life can get hard sometimes, and facing the reality of certain situations
can feel devastating to all of us. But that should not diminish the experience of
wonderful things we can take in with our senses.
We experience, we observe, and we learn. As observers and lifelong students,
we can give the best of ourselves to people and society at large. There is a way
to look at parts of our lives and not feel like victims but instead recipients of
life’s lessons, and to give back - to raise others up!
This world needs kindness, compassion, forgiveness, and a
tremendous amount of light - it needs you!

7. As a little girl, I vividly remember seeing the smiles on my parents' faces when
I did or said something that appreciated them as parents. Those are the smiles I
still look for in people now.
I want to create that sense of happiness in people when they realize they are
appreciated. It has a long-lasting, even life-long effect. It transforms people
and how people feel about themselves.
I grew up amongst Astrid Lindgren’s stories about Pipi Longstocking, and
beautiful green forests, waking up to the smell of fresh-baked bread and
homemade yogurt. As a child I was surrounded by love, caring, simplicity, faith,
and authenticity, and that has shaped me into the person I am today. My
expectations of what a person can become go far beyond doing what she/ he has
been asked to do.

8. The Cybersecurity Woman of the Year Awards and Ally of the Year Awards
were created with that in mind. They serve two main purposes; one is to create
role models for those that aspire to join the cybersecurity field and two is to
award exemplary allies for women in technology. With awards and public
recognition and validation, we brighten the energy in the world, one award at
the time, one person at the time. These awards bring many positive outcomes
including helping women advance their careers.
People often ask me about what they should do differently besides working hard
in order to be successful. I tell them working hard is not enough because many
people work hard but not all of them become successful.
“To succeed you need to go outside the norm, embrace risk, be
flexible, and always, always give it all by breaking existing barriers”
I like connecting the dots where invisible connections may already exist. As an
entrepreneur, I follow the successful patterns to build upon. It is no secret that
working in the cybersecurity profession is complex, hard, potentially
demoralizing, and can drain one’s energy. It takes courage to persevere and to
stay in the field for the long haul - that is why community support is especially
important.
“We need each other to get through tough days and when feeling
compelled to give up“
So we need support and endorsement for real innovation. We know that
innovation calls for things to change. But what drives innovation? What do all
innovators have in common?
For innovation, we need a new idea, knowledge, technique, and motivation.
Any champion of innovation consistently challenges the status quo while being
inverse to the environment. True innovators naturally possess intellectual
curiosity and set their goals high. We also know that innovators value diversity,
inclusion, and teamwork. Creativity needs action before it can become an
innovation.
“Without the action, there is no innovation”

9. About the 100 Women in 100 Days Cybersecurity Career Accelerator
▪ It started with the recognition that there is a significant lack of skilled talent and
diversity of thought in the field today. New cyber threats are arising every minute and
increasing the risks to consider, but the traditional education methods are not upskilling the
cybersecurity professionals with the latest knowledge fast enough, nor are they growing the
volume of talent needed. The existing workforce is burning out at the speed of light, and
too many professionals in the field today share the same background, knowledge, and
education.
▪ We know we must innovate and change the way we upskill the new cybersecurity
workforce. The 100W100D fast-track program is one answer to obtaining the latest
knowledge and skills the fastest way.
▪ The 100W100D program has a full cycle curriculum including the most in-demand
industry certifications training and accreditation, hands-on workshops, AI-based simulated
projects, career coaching, soft skills classes, internship opportunities, as well as job
placement.
▪ This year the 100W100D plan is to train 300+ women in the US, Australia, and To
remove existing barriers to entry, this program is offered at no cost to students as they learn
about real-life scenarios, incidents, and solutions from experts in the field.
▪ One challenge to making this a permanent solution for upskilling the new generation of
cyber defenders is consistent funding needs or sources. Corporations are encouraged to
invest in these programs and students.
▪ Currently, the program is funded on a grant-by-grant basis through a complex and
tedious process, but more can be done! There is a long waitlist of students on hold to attend
classes, but they must wait until for funding and grants.
The solution
It is quite simple! The cybersecurity discipline needs to grow, and with it more
corporations need to appreciate and realize that investing their money into the
education of cybersecurity professionals will directly result in better business
resilience for them. Only then can this program have the chance to become one
of the most impactful ways to develop a diverse and inclusive cybersecurity
workforce.

10. My ask?
▪ My call to action is to ask corporations to support this innovative way of
upskilling professionals by sponsoring 100W100D students. The current lack
of skilled cybersecurity professionals makes the world vulnerable and the future
of business unpredictable.
▪ Why not take a leap of faith to see what a changed approach to a common
problem can bring to the world? Yes, “together we are stronger” - the truth is no
one country or corporation or program can do it alone. Each is not powerful
enough and not wealthy enough- we must help each other.
▪ There is too much division amongst nations, groups, and people today. To
create bioluminescence in society and a better world for future generations, all
must be realistic, eliminate divisive and negative energy, mend the hurt, and
take the responsibility for future of this world.
▪ The United Cybersecurity Alliance's vision is to unite the global
cybersecurity community and provide a platform for women in cybersecurity to
learn, enhance their skills, and gain hands-on experience for successful entry
and retention within the field. United Cybersecurity Alliance is proud to be able
to bring people together to build a stronger and more resilient world.

11. Carmen Marsh is a renown expert in the world of
Cyber Security but from a recent experience, one
that impacted and coincided with my family’s move
from Northern California to Chattanooga,
Tennessee, I have come to realize Carmen as so
much more…
Carmen is selfless and compassionate towards all
of humanity, eager and willing to help those in
need - cyber related or otherwise, motivated towards
the development of a NextGen Cyber Army to
combat the bad actors, a leader in elevating women
in technology with a focus on cyber and technology,
she is a woman of faith, she is knowledgeable and
well connected with both business and technology
leaders alike and from my personal experience she’s
become a Superhero in the eyes of myself and my
family.
In speaking to a colleague of mine in France, I
learned about the horrific situation facing several
villages in the Czech Republic, which resulted from
a deadly tornado that swept through the country late
Thursday (June 24) night. My heart goes out to all
those impacted by this rare catastrophic event. Over
1,000 homes were affected, hundreds were injured,
and the tornado was responsible for multiple lives.
As in most cases with events like the one facing the
Czech Republic, humanity is tested and often the
true superheroes arise from the ashes and bring
aid to those in need. I liken Carmen’s willingness
to help “in our time of need” and the urgency she
put forth, to that of the stories that will follow in the
aftermath of the tornado in the Czech Republic.
Everyday people will become hero’s as they will go
to great lengths to save lives, comfort those
impacted and rebuild villages and communities.
Suffice to say, my family was not impacted by a
tornado created by Mother Nature but rather a
tornado of a different sort -> that will have to wait
for a future publication.
“Thank you, Carmen, for your noble efforts,
taking heed, action and a sense of urgency
during our time of need.” - Brian M. Janosz
It is cliché to say we live in a small world, however,
in technology and certainly cyber security, the line is
fitting. To illustrate this, during “our proverbial
tornado”; after engaging all authorities and
following the respective direction(s) from each, we
were left exhausted both mentally and physically,
overwhelmed by the situation, and a bit hopeless.
Despite being showered by prayers and well wishes
from friends and family, we were at a complete
loss… “Who do we turn to?” “What is our next
step?” “Who can we trust?” …
That is, when I remembered my LinkedIn Network
and my connections in the Cyber Security
Community; Carmen Marsh, Ludmila Morozova-
Buss, Wade Brewer and a few others… We had
already been working with Wade Brewer, Co-
Founder of Vensearch who had been instrumental
throughout, but due to the situation, I had not been
thinking about my work as a Business and
Technology Consultant nor my extensive network on
LinkedIn. Then it dawned on me, Carmen Marsh,
from “100 Women in 100 Days Cybersecurity Career
Accelerator Program”!!!
So, without delay, I messaged Carmen and Ludmila
on LinkedIn and within minutes - NOT hours nor
days (which is the response I had been accustomed
to), I was grateful to receive “responses” from both
ladies along with an overwhelming willingness and
interest to help. This heroic and selfless effort led to
the start of “rebuilding our village”, restoring our
peace of mind, giving us a sense of hope, and
repairing the damage inflicted on our family and
new home.
Without hesitation, Carmen introduced us to
Michael Reese, who in his own right is a superhero;
an expert in cyber, criminal justice and is the head
of IT for K-Love (Education Media Foundation).

With A Superhero

12. I can only imagine that Carmen had to make a
special request because Michael has been
everything, you would expect from an angel sent
from heaven as he has literally been by our side
from the moment we first connected.
We consult with him multiple times a week, and he
is generally available at a moment’s notice and
always happy and willing to help.
The world would only benefit from more people
like Michael and Carmen!
As I write this, it has been about a month “since the
touchdown of our tornado” which led to my initial
outreach to Carmen (i.e., Cry for help!) and our
conversations with Michael Reese that followed.
Although this has been a gut-wrenching experience
for my family and I, with no end in sight, a lot of
good has come out of it.
So, as I reflect and exercise my gratitude, I am
reminded of the value of maintaining a positive
reputation and keeping a trusted network (i.e.,
LinkedIn, Vensearch), the importance of being
active in social channels (which provided my initial
connection to Carmen and Ludmila) and my notion
of a “small world” was once again reinforced. We
truly live in a small world surrounded by lots of
virtuous people.
I have also come to learn that Carmen works closely
with my best friend Gary Coleman, who I have
known since grade school and growing up together
in Chico, California. Additionally, the owner of his
IT recruiting firm, Zeektek is good friends with
Michael Reese and the recruiting firm is a strategic
partner of K-Love for tech-recruitment.
As for our situation, we are certainly not out of the
woods yet, but we have been encircled with great
people including Carmen, Michael, Wade, Ludmila
and others not mentioned in this article and for that I
will be forever grateful.
In closing, I have been honored to have had the
opportunity to write this article, highlighting
Carmen’s contributions towards the tech/cyber
community and humanity alike. And I would like to
take this moment to publicly say “Thank you
Carmen for your noble efforts, taking heed, action
and a sense of urgency during our time of need”.

14. The Heart of Gold.
Success With Recognition.
by Matthew Rosenquist
“Carmen possesses the charm, professionalism,
and sophistication that is difficult to resist.”
- Matthew Rosenquist, CISO & Cybersecurity Strategists
Carmen Marsh is an amazing advocate for equality,
equity, and diversity in the cybersecurity industry. I
had the pleasure of meeting her after she relocated
from the Bay Area to the Sacramento region of
California. As the CEO of Inteligenca, Carmen
realized the rich depth of technology in the area was
not supported by social programs that connected
cybersecurity professionals, as was the case in the
Bay Area.
In response, she founded the Cyber Salon roundtable
and invited local cybersecurity leaders to discuss
relevant issues and share best practices. It was an
instant hit. For the first time that I can remember,
cybersecurity professionals in the state’s capital
began mingling and building local networks to
share ideas. Carmen made it happen.
Carmen possesses the charm, professionalism,
and sophistication that is difficult to resist. She
has a tremendous heart and passion to make the
industry better. Her organizational skills and ability
to gather support is second to none. Cyber Salon
was only the beginning. Her subsequent initiatives
have focused to drive the inclusion of women in the
cybersecurity industry and recognizing the allies
who support the equalization of opportunities, and
the importance of diversity. This has included the
100 Women 100 Days, CyberCru 500, and
SacCARES Cybersecurity Career training
accelerators as well as the recognition events
Cybersecurity Woman of the Year and Ally of the
Year Awards.
Carmen established the 100 Women 100 Days
program as a free all-inclusive cybersecurity
workforce development program to assist women
seeking to join the ranks of cyber professionals with
technical industry-standard certifications.
Participants are taught the necessary skills in
preparation for their first job in cybersecurity.
As the spread of COVID-19 began to have
economic impacts on the area, Carmen wanted to
offset the growing unemployment with a retooling
program that created opportunities for workers to
shift careers and fill critical cybersecurity roles.
SacCARES Cybersecurity Career Accelerator
was formed with sponsorship from the City of
Sacramento and CARES Act funds from the State of
California to reskill workers and students impacted
by COVID-19.
To showcase the prospects of a career in
cybersecurity to the youth of Sacramento valley, she
founded the CyberCru 500 program that has
enlightened hundreds of students on the possibilities
for an exciting future. Participants are involved in an
8-week explorer program and connect with mentors.
This training opens the doors to various paths of
cybersecurity and gives teenagers time with
professionals in the industry.
Carmen is about teamwork. Like a magnet, she
pulls together people in the industry and
amplifies how they can contribute through the
coordination of formal projects to improve
cybersecurity. As part of the energetic and positive
experiences, she drives success with recognition.
The Cybersecurity Woman of the Year and Ally of
the Year Awards celebrate amazing women in
cybersecurity that inspire all those who are
interested in entering the field and allies who
actively work to help remove barriers to inclusion
and equality for all.

15. Above all, Carmen cares for the community and for
the cybersecurity professionals that work hard to
protect the security, privacy, and safety of our
digitally connected world. She has risen to become a
beacon that attracts others in support of these causes
and is a force-amplifier for what people can
accomplish individually. Carmen’s leadership is
making a difference.
I am honored to know Carmen and support the
tremendous efforts that constructively raise equity,
inclusion, and opportunities for women in
cybersecurity.

growing. In the U.S. alone, there are estimates of
500,000 open cybersecurity positions. People of all
abilities and all colors need to be welcomed and
encouraged to join or cross-train into the field. All
hands are needed on deck. With this being a new
discipline and with novel career fields being
established across the globe, especially with the
introduction of 5G, artificial intelligence and data
science to network and information security, this
discipline is ripe for a new value paradigm of
inclusion. If these seeds today are planted by all, the
flowers will bloom in 2040.
There are 2 examples from my professional
experience that demonstrate flowers currently
blooming are from seeds planted a decade or
decades earlier.
In 1999, the National Security Agency established
the Centers of Academic Excellence in
Cybersecurity, and in the U.S., there were only 7
colleges designated. In 2021, there are 338 schools
across the country, to include 78 Minority
Serving Institutions, which include Historically
Black Colleges and Universities. With leadership
and a new value proposition, the academic
landscape of schools offering cybersecurity degrees
dramatically changed.
The second example is that the National Security
Agency first offered free cybersecurity camps to
school-age children in 2014 with a few schools. In
2021, there will be 140 camps in 48 states. These
camps include opportunities for students with
physical or cognitive challenges, such as visual
impairment. After seven years and purposeful
direction, campers are now 49% female, reflect
racial diversity, as well as having camps offered
in more states and increased economically
disadvantaged regions for greater inclusivity.

18. Women In The Area Of Digital
Transformation
We need more visionary women like Carmen in the area
of digital transformation. If women have improved
access to skills development in this area, I believe it
will have a positive impact for many generations to
come.
The skills acquired in digital transformation are
transferrable to other sectors as well. The skills are
practical and can lead to scientific breakthroughs.
Because of this I believe there can be an important
generational stake. - Ludmila Morozova-Buss
