To whom it may concern,
I am writing this letter in support of Tony Chew, a student who recently graduated from the
University of Queensland with a master's degree In mechanical engineenng.
I am a PhD Candidate of the Propulsion and Power research group where Tony completed his
thesis - Design of Shockwave Generators for Non-Ideal Gas Dynamics at the Delft University of
Technology. I came to know Tony as the main contact to bhng him here to the Netherlands to
conduct his master thesis from Australia. I also served as his daily supervisor, providing him with
guidance and assistance as he showed great steps and understanding towards completing his
work. Tony demonstrated great Initiative and a keen interest In his thesis topic and was able to
contribute positively to our overall research purposes within the group.
During his master thesis, he displayed excellent research and problem solving skills. His rigorous
analytical and good communication abilities led him to an outstanding final thesis submission. He
developed an aptitude for fundamental studies In gas dynamics and showed interest in the study
of unconventional turbomachines.
Tony has a good academic record and his master's degree gives him a solid foundation to be an
excellent asset to any employer. He has proven himself to have the perseverance. Initiative, and
intellectual creativity necessary to pursue any endeavor he chooses. On a personal level, Tony is
a well-dlscipllned. Industrious student with a pleasant personality. His willingness to travel and
completion of an exchange period abroad demonstrates the courage to cope and adapt to
dynamic situations. This sets him aside from other graduates ofthe University of Queensland.
I have no hesitation In recommending Tony for employment in your program or company. I would
be happy to provide any further information.
Kind regards,
Adam Head, PhD Candidate
