Saeed Nasiri earned his MSc in Energy and Nuclear Engineering from Politecnico di Torino in Italy. He took two courses from Professor Gian Vincenzo Fracastoro, receiving the highest marks in both. His master's thesis on a solar dryer for wood in Tanzania was complex and required knowledge of various disciplines. It was awarded the maximum mark of 108/110. Both Professor Fracastoro and Professor Raffaella Gerboni praise Nasiri for his enthusiasm, engagement, competence and maturity as a student.

To whom it may be concerned
I know Saeed Nasiri, MSc in Energy and Nuclear Engineering , since 2012, when he started to
follow my course “Technologies for Energy Saving and thermal comfort in buildings”. Further on
he followed another course, still with me as a teacher, in “Technology for renewable Energy
Sources”. He passed both exams with the highest mark (30/30), and was among the top 25% in
the first course and in the top 8% in the second one. Both courses were in English, a language
that Saeed perfectly masters, both in written and verbal modes.
Moreover, his excellent physical-mathematical background allows him to pass with very good
results not only my course but all course in the MSc in Energy and Nuclear Engineering.
Saeed’s Thesis was supervised by myself, together with prof. Giuseppe Quaglia, and discussed
in October 2014
The topic of the Thesis was a feasibility study on a solar dryer for wood desiccation in Tanzania.
It is a particularly complex topic, because it requires, beyond ordinary competences in Energy
Engineering like heat transfer, moist air thermodynamics, etc., also special competences on
wood drying, in order to assess the optimal speed of the process guaranteeing the required
wood properties, which rather belong to other scientific disciplines like forest science.
Moreover, the Thesis required a deep knowledge of the specific climate, social and economic
conditions of the area where the installations was supposed to be realised, along with the
available natural resources.
Saeed Nasiri has carried on his work with noticeable autonomy, deepening all the topics he had
to face. The Thesis has been awarded the maximum mark, so that Saeed achieved his MSc
degree with a final mark of 108/110.
Saeed Nasiri is a young man which always devote enthusiasm and engagement to his activity
and performs his tasks with scruple and prevision.
He is a gentle and well educated person, who expects from the persons who are talking to him
the attention that he naturally deserves.

Torino, 15/12/2014
This letter is meant to certify that Mr. Saeed Nasiri was a student of my course on “Siting and environmental
Impact of Energy Systems” during his MS Course in Energy and Nuclear Engineering at Politecnico di Torino.
I have had the chance to check his working attitude under multiple aspects. The kind of project that I require to
produce to pass my exam implies a high level of interdisciplinarity and strong team working attitude.
Mr. Nasiri was part of a multilingual and multicultural small team (on his request) which completed a high value
project report. The team presented the work at a professional standard receiving a top score.
Mr. Nasiri has also served as a course assistant in other engineering courses (e.g. on Energy Modelling) and he
has been appreciated for his competence and availability with the students.
Personally, I found spending time talking with Mr. Nasiri very fruitful and enriching, leading me to consider him
as an unusually mature student and person.
With this letter, I affirm that Mr. Saeed Nasiri should be considered as a very good candidate to be admitted at
your establishment.
Best regards
Raffaella Gerboni
