Subject: Reference letter on behalf of
Mr Muhammad Aulaqi
University of Hertfordshire, 21st
July 2015
TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN
I am writing this reference letter at request of Mr Muhammad Aulaqi, who I first met as a
lecturer in two second year undergraduate modules in the 2013/2014 session. It is with great
pleasure that I do it, as Muhammad has performed very well in some of the modules I had the
opportunity to teach him, namely as his BEng Final Year Project (FYP) supervisor where he
delivered a first class project in the 2014/2015 session.
The results obtained under the scope of his FYP were actually used for a paper that we have
recently submitted to one of the most prestigious journals in the field of Vibration Analysis, the
Mechanical Systems and Signal Processing (still under review). His contribute has been duly
acknowledged by putting his name as a co-author, which is indeed an achievement and quite
uncommon for a recent graduate.
Muhammad possesses strong analytical skills, supported by a good mathematical background.
Muhammad is intelligent, hardworking and enthusiastic in attempting to solve complex
problems, without disregarding sound theoretical foundations. One of the aspects that
impressed me the most was his high degree of initiative. He showed to be very detailed and
concerned regarding his FYP outcome.
Muhammad definitely is among the group of students who I would recommend to a future
employer. He always carries a responsible and professional attitude. He is punctual, persistent
and has always delivered on time. His skills in English are commendable as well.
Finally, I would like to express that I would be pleased to expand on my views should you
require it. It is indeed a great pleasure to write a reference letter on his behalf, and I hope you
accept his application.
Yours sincerely,
Dr Diogo Montalvão
PhD CEng MIMechE FHEA
