โ€ข Visibility in adverse weather is a cause for concern
โ€ข Stopping distances when the road aren't dry
โ€ข High winds
โ€ข Snow
Breakdowns
โ€ข Breakdowns can be extremely dangerous especially on a motorway
โ€ข On motorways evacuate passengers unless there is more danger outside
โ€ข On other roads passengers should stay inside vehicle
โ€ข SOS phone or a mobile phone to call assistance (112)
โ€ข Inform base
โ€ข Supervise and reassure passengers.
Breakdowns
โ€ข Breakdowns can be extremely dangerous especially on a motorway
โ€ข On motorways evacuate passengers unless there is more danger outside
โ€ข On other roads passengers should stay inside vehicle
โ€ข SOS phone or a mobile phone to call assistance (112)
โ€ข Inform base
โ€ข Supervise and reassure passengers.
Collisions
โ€ข Stop and make the area save
โ€ข Exchange details but do not admit liability
โ€ข Evacuate passengers if needed, supervise and reassure
โ€ข Call Emergency Services if necessary
โ€ข Note details (e.g. witnesses, time, take photos)
โ€ข Inform office/base
โ€ข Report to Police within 24 hours, if required
Passenger illness - emergency
โ€ข Access the situation:
โ€ข Call ambulance if required
โ€ข Give first aid if needed
โ€ข Reassure and make comfortable
โ€ข Reassure other passengers โ€“ they may be upset
Passenger illness โ€“ non emergency
โ€ข Access the situation:
โ€ข Continue the journey when person feels well enough
โ€ข Make sure someone is there to look after them
โ€ข When you arrive tell parent/carer/staff what has happened
